As I understand it, the actually vineyards are south of Santa Fe but, we stopped by the tasting room and split a tasting (about $7, if memory serves). We tried a delightful Chardonnay which was light a crisp. Next was a red that had a little spice to it, not surprising considering the area. Finally, we had a Zinfandel Port which was really impressive. The tasting room itself is not much to mention. Its functional and offers the usual books and spouts and aprons you might find in another tasting room. The bathrooms look like they were lifted from a Getty station. The man offering the tastings was pleasant and knowledgeable. If you like wine and are in the area. See what's offered away from the West Coast. You might be pleased as we were.

For most of his reds, he is unique in fermenting the wine in used bourbon barrels. Wines we tried from these barrels were smoother, rounder, and with a bit more honey than similar wines from oak wine barrels. He also makes some nice whites and traditional reds. Joseph gave a very nice tour of his property and vines, and a very generous tour of his wines in his tasting room. We walked out with 7 bottles and a membership to his wine club.

My boyfriend had a couple other varieties, a red and a white, and they were great too! I appreciate that the wines on the menu had actual descriptions including notes, so it makes it a lot easier to make a choice based on what you'd normally enjoy (or want to try).
