Bad business practices, doesn't care about customer service and uses a false identity to sign notices and doesn't abide by the notice information proving to be false information given to occupants! Don't sign their contract because it means nothing to them and the "managers" don't even know what the fine print is or what it means. I had a hardship this past month and was agreeing to my notice completely which was pay my fees and last months rent in full by the date specified on my notice, two days earlier in fact. Upon calling I spoke with Nathan who was the on site manager at the time and he had told me that my signed notice was invalid and now since it is past the first of the next month I had to pay the rent due for the current month and this month without notice- which was due in two days. I wasn't asking for partial payment but I was willing to pay the amount and he argued with me and stuttered saying there was nothing he could do, that his program (that he wouldn't disclose) quikstor didn't give him the option to change this amount and it was set by the owner. I asked when the person who signed this document would be in Andres Marino, and he told me he wouldn't and that Andres could contact me if he wanted to on his own will. I asked about the owner and he wouldn't give me that information either. With research there is no Andres Marino in the area, let alone any in the world that are tied to this establishment. My rental agreement form that I had signed the day I rented the unit states that the occupant will pay the owner the indicated fee for each letter sent to the occupant notifying occupant of the owners lien. In the event of default the occupant agrees to pay all collection and lien costs incurred by owner. I also had a lien fee amount increase from my agreement to this notice and didn't receive the proper written notice of change. Well here I am trying to pay for this notice what I'm agreeing to and trying to set up a payment agreement for this months rent and he won't accept it. He told me he can only split the payment if I go in with a family member and he could do two cards on his system. Unfortunately I don't have the luxury of that. But, if I go into the office I can use multiple cards in one transaction. This is really shady to me, and help me if I'm wrong but this smells of illegal. I couldn't even get a straight answer. All he could say is that is the way it is and he can't help me because then they would have to help everyone else. All the managers would tell me the same thing if I could get a hold of them, but he wouldn't classify when that could be or if it would be within these two days. Quality wise- they have rats that were promised to be taken care of. Our items are covered in rat poop, fur, and nesting from other items they've torn up. Our unit and our belongings are also water damaged from their pipelines bursting that caused flooding. We were told it wasn't their problem or their responsibility. I wouldn't be surprised if our unit has been broken into and damaged more or if they kick us out regardless of policy. Maybe they're used to it and this happens more often than not. read more

Our company was contacted today regarding a late payment in Sept. They received the payment Sept 11th which was a Monday. Even the IRS gives you a Monday. Now they want to charge late fees and other so called fee. We have been with them over 10 years and have not been late. Our check should only take a day to get there but somehow all the sudden they are not getting their mail in a timely manner. After all this time they will not help me figure out what changed.................I don't think they are looking at their mail every day. read more

I believe a lot has changed with the staff. I needed a U-Haul and storage unit and the staff was beyond helpful, knowledgeable and had excellent customer service skills. I've had no issues (yet). Sorry there are so many bad reviews, but my experience was awesome. read more

My fiance and I needed a storage unit. I was asked for my ID and I gave it to them. They would not accept my ID because its not a drivers license. I was going to bring my fiance in and have him show his drivers license so we could rent the unit. The unit was supposed to be for both of us. The guy at the desk flat out denied me a unit and said he would not rent to my fiance either even though he had a valid drivers licence. This is absolutely NONSENSE!!! I'm writing because I have been a customer of Emerald 78 for about 10 years. They switched management as their is a gentleman that is absolutely rude. He threatened me with breaking my lock and me not being able to access my items. I have not been treated so rudely and it's constantly. The website and hours state 6:45PM and was one minute after 6:30PM and I was unable to enter and he said if I don't like it, I can find a different storage unit and move out. He has told me repeatedly to move out and I have seen him speak to other people of color in this manner as well. I've been very courteous asked if I can speak to supervisor he told me too bad, there's no way, and if the supervisor wanted to speak to me would contact me. I asked if he could have him contact me, and he repeated again, no and if you do t like it move out. I'm stunned. I had to call police to come because I was so scared by his threats. read more

I would never recommend this storage to anyone, not even an enemy. They are cheaper than many other facilities, true, but it is totally not worth the savings if you things get stolen. I've found the office staff unfriendly every time. I would not recommend them to anyone, My recommendation: pay a bit more and get real security for your things and people easier to work with. They are resurfacing the asphalt so all campers/RV's have been asked to leave to the property for 2 months... I've no problem with that.. It's when I asked for my pro-rated refund and was denied on the 7th of the month, did I have a problem. Not sure how thats fair or moral. read more

this place sucks!!!!!! they have a gate which should gain you access 24/7. on sunday's their hours are from 9:00am to 2:30pm. i store my boat there outside so it's just parked. because of their hours i can't get my boat until 9 am and have to have it back my 2:30pm or else i can't get in. this is the worst f'ing storage place i have ever seen. don't bother doing business here. it's an absolute joke. read more

I've been using Emerald @ 78 self storage for many, many years now and have no complaints. As long as you know how to read, you'll be fine. Their website, as well as the signs on the property's gates, clearly state that the office is open till 6:30, with a 15 min grace period to get out of your unit and off property by 6:45. Never been a problem for me. I know these days, with technology at our fingertips, it's hard to find out a businesses hours of operation, but look around and you'll see the signs. Slow down and read them. Now, if your looking for a place to store your crap, and you need to be getting to it after 'normal' business hours, I suggest leaving said crap at home or in the trunk of your car with all your other crap. Management has always been polite and professional. Want frills, go to Disneyland. Want a place to store your extra 'stuff' that you can't keep at home, for less that most other storage facilities, bring it here! read more

my son has his things in storage at Emerald Self Storage. I called in the month of march, because my son said he didn't and couldn't make his storage payment. They took the payment and told me it was paid. My son called me and told me that it had been paid by him and not to pay it. When I called Emerald Self Storage back they informed me that his storage was paid up through May 1st. I asked them why they took a double payment? she told me that they have a lot of storage unit, and had no idea that it was a double payment and it was paid through May 1st. When I asked her when she posted the payment to the account wouldn't have noticed at that time that it was already paid? And would , informed us that it was paid?Either party, that made the 2nd payment? No she did not she just took payments from both of us. I just called them today May 13th because my son said he could not make his May payment and now they refuse to take a payment from me. Is that legal? How can you not take a payment when somebody wants to pay something? I would never do business with Emerald Self Storage and I would recommend 0 stars on this Self Storage Company. read more

I have used Emerald for years and the prices have remained the same. The place is an older storage facility but is kept cleaned. The Gate Hours say 7am to 6:45pm Last Entry 6:30pm so I can see where some people would be confused. They offer xtra hours to the gate when you move in. read more

Top notch security. Sign should be posted when gate is left wide open for the trash truck to drive through. Somebody may accidentally drive past the gate code key box. Plenty of signs posted when gate is closed. The security guard who stopped me to verify that I have a unit on property never asked for my photo id, only my name. I could have given him any name. All he did was look at my card with the gate code number. Security was not very friendly. He was actually a jerk. read more
