Went to Emerald City with my family to pick up some tabletop dice and figurines for Dungeons & Dragons I grabbed a set of dice and went over to the books to flip through the books and got pulled aside by Jeremy and was made to empty my pockets in front of my family like I was a thief I politely did so which resulted in him realizing that I did not steal anything so he decides to walk over to my family and tell them that they cannot walk around with anything in their hands while they're shopping that they must bring it to the counter we just wanted to pick up and some cheap merchandise so we can play a game as a family and we're treated like common criminals there's no excuse for this and it was extremely embarrassing. I refuse to pay outrageous prices just to get treated like a criminal work on your customer service and I may return not everyone is a thief read more

This is the absolute best comic book store in the area. Their new location is easy to find, and it is massive. Unlike many other comic book shops, their aisles are nice and wide, enabling you to browse and find exactly what you're looking for (or find lots of other cool stuff). Everything is organized, not jumbled together, and their staff are all knowledgeable about the items in the store. One of the best things about EC is that they run frequent raffles and promotions. Our family loves their cosplay events, where they encourage you to cosplay, and you can get your picture with other cosplayers. While you're there, make sure you go to their back room and try a new board game. They've got a selection of what seems to be at least fifty board games that can be played (which lets you know if you'll enjoy the game enough to buy it!). We've made a number of purchases based on what we've demoed there: Ticket to Ride, Forbidden Island/Desert, King of Tokyo, etc. The staff are all very friendly and greet us by name. We've often asked for recommendations for new comics, games, and such, and have never been steered wrong. Adam, Kari, AJ, Zoe, Daryl, Forrest, Joshua, and so many others are very friendly and a joy to be around. They are also wonderful at special ordering items and holding them for pickup. read more

I went there to buy a super awesome comic that was being signed by the artist, I happened to know the artist and I went there completely out of my element ! I am big into customer service and when I walked through the door I did not get a hello - it'll cost a store that is my element a star so I don't want to hear it. I literally fly off my rocker when I get bad customer service. It's an unintelligent business move - that being said: Also the friendliness of a (female) of the cashier sucked - I gotcha though girl, I don't belong there but your nasty self underestimated me because I deff spent 60 bucks in comics so smile and speak when your spoken to. Can't punish everyone because some rude individual didn't enjoy my patronage.... The other employees there where very nice. The sheer selection and size of the place and the mixture of toys and oddities are enough to warrant an visit. If your element is comics, toys about comics or involving popular cult- cultural cartoons and collectables about all manner of things including a certain popular bbc show.Then you should go. It's like the target of comic stores. I've revised this rating from 4 stars to 5 because of an awesome response from the owner. I'll be shopping there again in the future. read more

Visiting from Ohio and yelped comic book stores. I'm staying about 30 minutes away and it was between here and another comic shop. I definitely made the right choice. I had to walk around twice just to soak it all-in initially! Comic books galore and very well organized. Employees were super helpful and knew their stuff. I ask a few questions about what I was interested in and off the top of his head the gentleman with the beard named a comic for me. I passed on the graded one because I wanted so much more around the store lol retro to new action figures! Movie props replicas scaled characters!!! Huge funko pop selection. I didn't look too throughly through them because I was interested in some more semi bigger ticket items but from what I browsed you can basically find almost anything you could think of!!! Even some signed cartoon artwork! Huge Star Wars and Star Trek selection. Memorabilia heaven!!! And again the staff was super friendly!!!! So nice and helpful. Clean facility. Comics galore!!! If you ever have an opportunity to stop in it's worth it! One gentleman in the check out picked up a comic on reserve and they have a rewards club as well! You won't be disappointed! read more

I was a patron for the first time at EC collectibles this past week. I must admit, they impressed my socks off. After 20 years, I'm getting back into collecting comics again. The store had an amazing selection of comics, each and every back issue well preserved in plastic with a cardboard backing. I was blown away by their selection of collectibles as well, action figures, board games, you name it. It's basically nerd heaven. Aside from the selection, the staff really make this store. Everyone I spoke to was very helpful, and happy to explain, in depth, any inquiries I had. I was curious about how to put values on comics, signed comics, stuff like that... and they (I say they because 2 people were helping me, not just 1) gave me great in depth answers. It's the kind of place where a nerd can feel "among his/her kind". Now that I'm back into collecting, EC is going to be my "go-to" place hands down. Wilson's bookstore is much closer to me, but the experience there is the polar opposite. Rude "comic book guy" running the comic section, poor selection, comics shoved in boxes without protective wrappings... 20 years ago, I loved Wilson's, but now EC will be my place. Today is International Tabletop board game day, and I can't believe I haven't reviewed Emerald City yet. I love this store. It's always nice, bright, and clean. In addition to comics and nerd swag, they carry an impressive selection of tabletop board games. Some of my favorites include Settlers of Catan (they have a bunch of expansions here too), Pandemic, and Betrayal. If you aren't sure whether you'd like a game, they have a big room where you can play with your friends to test it out. I believe they also do weekly Dungeons and Dragons games as well as other tabletop games. Sometimes on the weekends, they'll have people dressed as superheroes, such as Iron Man, Captain America, Batman, etc, which is really cute for kids who are into the nerd-dom. Oh! Something else I love about this place is that they have a good selection of SciFi novels. When I was living in Orlando, that was something the shop by my house was missing. The last I checked, they had Asimov's Foundation series, which made my appreciation for this place go through the roof, since Foundation is a classic in SciFi literature. read more

We probably could've spent even longer here if we weren't so hungry. Vast selection of comics and comic related memorabilia, along with tabletop games including a ton of demos with a demo room. I went last Sunday to look at some comics. They have hundreds of comics in boxes by the wall that hangs tons of other comics. I started to walk up to the boxes and I was stopped by a female employee. I told her I've been through those boxes tons of times in the past. She would not let me by the boxes. She would not move the boxes to me either. Being 10 feet from the boxes I had to shop sight unseen using my memory and her help. I left after looking at 1 comic. I am a 43 year old avid comic book collector. Have shopped here for years, especially when they had their store in Seminole. Since their consolidation, the inventory has really expanded. If you are into comic books, this is the place for you. I am more of a gamer and comic books don't hold much interest for me. They also have a separate gaming area where they regularly host all kinds of events/games, very nice. The customer support staff seems genuinely friendly and helpful-kudos! Which brings me to why I rated why I did. I am all for supporting local businesses and actually prefer to do so. Their selection of ancillary products is mediocre at best. I understand that they don't want to carry a huge selection of product that doesn't sell well, I work in retail. I'll use an example; I like to put my board game cards in protective sleeves to extend their life, many other folks like to do this as well. Over the last year, every single time I go in to see if they have any, they are out of the sizes I need, so it seems obvious they are selling. I end up having to buy online, sometimes online is cheaper, sometimes not. When I mentioned my frustration to the cashier, the response I got was, "Well, maybe we're having trouble getting them from our supplier." I'm sorry but this seems unacceptable to me. If your supplier can't keep you in stock of items that continuously blow off your shelf, then maybe it's time to find a new supplier. Finally, their prices are what I would call "mostly competitive"-not great but not ludicrously over-priced either. I've purchased several board games there that were only a little more than an online store. Have never found anything cheaper, either.
