Edit: The owner of this location reached out to me and informed me that all the fruits in Guava Sunrise are authentic and fresh, except for the guava (which is a flavoring). She also notified me that the way I ordered my smoothie should've included different substitutes, which caused it to be too sweet. I appreciate her messaging me, and I'm planning on visiting this location once more and rewriting my review the next time I visit Seattle. The customer service here is very good. I love a good smoothie. I stopped here after a Costco trip because I wanted a variety of fruit without buying gigantic 20 oz containers of them. The workers are really friendly, like other reviewers mention. I got the Guava Sunrise smoothie and asked to remove the whey protein while also getting a free add-on from checking in on Yelp, and the worker told me she could give me another add-on since she wasn't putting in the whey protein! I got a Vitamin C boost and some acai. However, my order wasn't that great since the flavor was incredibly artificial. It might have been the Vitamin C boost overpowering everything, but I felt like I was drinking dessert instead of something that should've been packed with fresh fruits. I love that there is so much options to choose from and it is categorized by your intended goals, such as weight loss, immunity support, mass building, etc. You're bound to find something you like. There is a lot of customization involved in choosing your add-ons. Drinks come in 16oz and 32oz. I usually go for the 32oz because I'll just drink it all day or put the leftover in the freezer and let it thaw out the next time I finish it. Although it's on the pricier side, it is worth the investment. The smoothies are usually packed with nutrients, protein, or antioxidants. My fave drink is the Emerald smoothie. It takes even better with peanut butter if you enjoy a nutty, creamier taste. I also recommend the Green Goddess if you want your daily intake of greens. Wow, this place is not what I expected. As an avid Yelper, I usually look up places to check out when I want something yummy. This time, I was at the nearby Costco and decided to stop by without any prior knowledge. It was not what I was expecting at all. I don't know why I thought this was a basic fruit smoothie place but I was surprised (not in a bad way!) to see that this is a more complex and healthy smoothie spot. LOCATION & PARKING // There is a ton of parking here BUT there are so many cars around because of the Costco and the Home Depot around here. It is a hot mess driving around this place so be careful or else someone will hit you or randomly walk in front of you. The actual smoothie place is medium sized. There aren't a ton of tables inside and it's more of a grab and go kind of place. MENU & SERVICE // The menu here is enormous! I like how easy it is to maneuver because you can select something based off of what you're looking for. I applaud them for their accessible design. The service here was great too - nothing to complain about! DRINK // I ended up ordering the COCONUT PASSION (Coconut, Pineapple, Banana, Almonds, Whey Protein, Nonfat Milk) with a shot of VITAMIN C (bonus: the shot is free if you check into Yelp). When I first got it, it was a lot more thin and liquidy than I thought it would be. I don't know why but I thought it would be thicker and colder. I ended up not being able to drink it until much later so when I got home, I dumped it into a glass and left it in the freezer for a bit. It was really good! I thought the almonds added something unexpected to the drink. I'm glad I chose this - it was the perfect blend of sweet, summery, and refreshing. The only thing is the smallest size (16oz) is almost 7 dollars! OVERALL // 3.5 stars While it was a good smoothie, I don't think it's worth the price. I didn't want to be confrontational and I get that I got what I purchased, but I felt like that response was not completely honest. If that was truly going to be thrown out, why not offer it to the customer right in front of you inquiring about it? That would be putting the customer first. Second main gripe is terrible web app. I went through the arduous steps to register and wrestled with the online checkout for at least 5-8 minutes to try and order the above acai bowl but gave up. The web app is also part of your business and part of your customer's experience. Terrible failure here and needs immediate attention if 25% off first online order continues to be promoted. Love love love this place after a kick ass workout...or even when I just want a fast meal and don't feel like chewing. The flavor and add-on options are neverending. I love the Lean Out, which I think is one of the meal replacement smoothies, made with chocolate or vanilla whey protein, peanut butter, nonfat milk, and banana. When I'm feeling like something more fruity I go for the Sambazon made with acai, strawberry, cranberry, almond milk, and whey protein. ECS is also great for protein snacks and a variety of workout shake mixes. The gal working was very nice, but not especially helpful. She didn't really say anything after her version of the "Hi, there. Do you know what you'd like, or would you like some time to make up your mind?" greeting, but she did let me and all the (male) customers that flooded in after me choose our drinks in peace. I was kind of surprised that she didn't offer any suggestions or ask if any of us were new to Emerald City Smoothie. I wasn't in the mood for any cow (nonfat) or soy milk, so thankfully the menu was easy to quickly narrow down to a few tasty sounding choices. (Many of the drinks contained soy milk or nonfat milk.) I'm something of a berry addict (see: "last meal" section of my Yelp profile), so I chose one of their drinks that was berry-tastic. I'm not sure which one, but it had at least one kind of berry in it. The cost was about $4-5 for a big 20 or 24oz (styrofoam? ick) to-go cup. The employee(s) could have tried a little harder, but I definitely enjoyed my smoothie and would be happy to go back for another. read more

I find that when I view these smoothies more along the lines what health benefits can be had from a high protein smoothie before a workout, I find that five plus dollars isn't a bad price to pay. I dock two points for how lackluster the "treat" smoothies are compared to the more corporate minded Jamba Juice, but give back a point for having some really good health smoothies (like the Lean Body for lifters or Eternal Energizer for those that need a quick pick up before hitting the gym). The menu board looks like a giant Jeopardy board with the header (Good For You, for instance) then a row of drinks under it. Service was friendly and quick.
