This is the worst possible facility to be in. They are the equivalent of a puppy mill for mental health. The doctors outright lie in charts to protect themselves from thier own negligence. 15 minute bed checks where techs shine a light on you waking you. Being a PTSD veteran struggling and having been in other facilities and multiple years of the same diagnosis they added additional diagnoses that are contrary to a complete neurological psychological review, and 5 other doctors that had actually spent more than two or three 20 minute sessions with me. If you are military or a pilot AVIOD THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Poorly credentialed staff, constant emergency codes and violence. Very unsafe facility. read more

Absolutely amazing-- my adult daughter (19 years old at the time) was there in January. I can't say enough about how good this place is! She's been elsewhere, and this is the best! This place is one of the worst places to be in. I suggest just getting therapy or going to group therapy. This place made people go completely insane and more suicidal. This place is literally AWFUL. Let me go over some key reasons. First of all, the "techs" that are employed to watch you are not in any way professionally trained or qualified to do so. They have no required background in mental health services and are basically overpaid babysitters. They do not care for the health of the children, only that nothing happens that messes up the routine of having the easiest day and getting to go home still employed. The "therapists" are absolutely garbage, relating nothing to the children and opting to try and manipulate and brainwash them into believing that it's all in their heads and they just need to do what they're told and find a way to cope because they're too difficult. The babysitters also, while I was there, seemingly thrived from being rude every time a child was clearly distressed, being a CHILD, or was going through exactly what ended them up there. They all appeared to work off of the idea that we were undisciplined, ungrateful, and rude little assholes that needed to be "dealt with". They used GOING OUTSIDE as some type of reward, opting to force us in a tiny room for all hours of the day if they didn't think we deserved to go outside. And during the hit of COVID, we were made to be two feet apart, with 10 of us in a tiny room with minimal chairs, which for me with my very bad scoliosis, was awful. There was NOTHING ever done to resolve conflict by the babysitters, so half of everyone was always upset and in a bad mood. These people DO NOT care about your health, only a paycheck. They don't see you as individuals and will absolutely juice you up if you make the day harder on them. read more

This facility has to be one of my favorites. I've had many other facilities that I've been too and they all sucked. This one was so far the best in my opinion. We had groups that helped my heath like, rec therapy. I must say though the staff were absolutely horrible, they fought with me through out my whole experience there. The only reason I wouldn't go back is because of the staff, I didn't get to see my therapist at all during my experience. A few tips if you do plan on sending your children. They don't need shoes or a change of clothes. Unless you want them to have them. I walked with my group without shoes and the same clothes on for the entire time, during gym, outside time, and lunch. The facility is pretty much clean. And about the sleeping part, I had two roommates plus myself. It was so fun. I would definitely go here if I had to, the kids didn't want to pick fights or anything, obviously these kind of places don't help with most teenagers or kids/ mostly teens. It most certainly would be the place I would go to again if I had to go. read more

They sent me here the day I reported that I wanted to be a conscientious objector. They try to force pills down my throat. I reject all attempts, I report I wished for an early voluntary release and they detain me for an additional 4 days to try to bully me into staying. The white patients all bully me, they refused to give me shoes and didn't allow me to shower. I was mentally tortured and treated like a human piece of....yeah. The white patients were shown preference, the patients of color like myself were bullied and forced to take random medications, they didn't even explain HIPA laws to all the patients, all their phones are modified to record phone calls. It wasn't until they found out my father was a prosecutor that they let me go early. A shameful SHAMEFUL institution. read more

Place is terrible, horrible staff and I would not recommend this place at all. My bill was due and they would only allow us to use our phones weekends for 30 min and I asked them if I could have my phone until I figure out my bank situation but yet they didn't care. I was kept in intensive care at this facility for thres months, during which they would put me on huge regiments of ten plus psychiatric medications at a time, only to take me off of them and start me on an entirely new and different regiment a week later. One of these medications are sufficient to significantly alter thought patterms. I was assaulted by two of the staff, and I was never believed because of my struggles with mental illness and the sheer amount of drugs they had me on at any given time. They even threatened repeatedly to have me admitted to the psychiatric state hospital indefinitely, that I was "incurably insane". Turns out thsue drugging me caused me to act this way, since I recently found out I just have ADHD and autism, not the bipolar type schizoaffective disorder that they claimed I had. I have many physical health problems now because of all those drugs, and the three months of abuse I suffered at this place have given me no end of PTSD. Do not let yourself be trapped in this hell on Earth. read more

My daughter was just released dropped off to her sons girlfriends parents ( without asking ) The hospital was informed that she was homeless and non compliant with medical care for her hallucinations . On admission and would need safe placement . They gave her a prescription she had no job no insurance to buy this medicine . This place is a scam. The therapists and psychiatrists are not trauma informed and this leads to misdiagnosis and mistreatment of patients. Their medical records leave patients with a loss of rights due to misdiagnosis. You are left feeling invalidated with more trauma due to their medical negligence. The staff is not to be trusted. They falsify medical records and try to keep you longer to line their pockets. The social workers are also a joke. This facility should be shut down! read more

They advertise that they offer spirituality. When my husband told them he was Catholic they forced him to participate in yoga which is against our religion as the poses are a form of idolatry. They also refused to allow him to speak to a priest for over a week and then only had the priest come one time during his month long admission. Mel also told me she would call me a week before he was discharged and failed to provide Andy updates. I found out from my husband and his command that he was being discharged. The day before discharge they told my husband it would be better to have a MEB than a traditional retirement. I would not recommend this facility to any service members as they do not have your best interest in mind. read more

My brother was involuntarily admitted to this place and he did not see a doctor until the 4th day, yes the 4th day he was involuntary admitted. Really???? This hospital did nothing, but make sure to "Crank him in and then crank him out" like a machine, 12 days, when it was clear he was not 100%. My family voiced their legitimate to social worker and psychiatrist but fell on deaf ears. It was quite clear they could care less about him. The staff in the hospital had shown prejudice and judgment towards him it was QUITE obvious. Staff trying to daily coerce him to state his political stance. Okay if you are patient clearly not well and you have staff doing this to him/her showing CONSTANT judgment towards him for NO good reason, is that good for his MENTAL HEALTH!!!!!! How Dare You!!! Is that in the best interest of the patient????????? NO!!!!!!! Disgusting and UNBELIEVEABLE this place is open. He said, patients that were admitted before him said this place is a "DUMP". Patients who had been there told him the staff acts like it's just a 9:00am-5:00pm job that's it. No Compassion or Empathy. They even had a medical staff person from the veteran area drive him to the tow place and was asking him/interrogating him about his political stance. WHY!!!!!!!! What the heck does that have to do with anything about his Mental Health!!!! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!! THIS PLACE IS A CASH REGISTER, VERY OBVIOUS. Oh, and I told jade about the 1-star yelp reviews I read since my brother hadn't come like therapist was not returning my calls, so I shouldn't be surprised about his lack of treatment and treatment towards his family. You know what she said she had the audacity to tell me she never heard of Yelp. Really??? Well, then jade and the hospital you do not care previous yelp reviews of poor treatment and especially not care about my Yelp review, so here it is. It's Quite Obvious I'm not the first family member to call, so of course don't have the medical staff return my phone calls but have jade call to represent the hospital. She/jade said from this call they use it like a learning tool. I was not impressed and told her I know why she called to cover the hospital. She was insulted and said I was being Nasty. Horrible! I strongly advice to go to elsewhere! I went in for help and they turned me away after wasting my time and effort. There is a so called Nurse named Amber who seemed like an office worker sitting in the front office stuffing her pig face with popcorn while she is on the clock. After she was done and wasted hours of our time waiting she comes over and says she is a Nurse did everything with an uncaring, mocking, excuse ridden attitude and says everything to turn me away. She ignored all the facts and eventually walked off while I was still talking to her and trying to get help. She refused to give her full name, employee number and isn't wearing any name tag on her clothes. She is wearing casual clothes and contends she is a Nurse? I don't believe her. How can this be allowed when they take all our private information and have no accountability at all. This place is uncaring, unhelpful, horrible service, and a complete waste of time. Emerald Coast is a sham. They (Betsy) falsified discharge papers claiming she spoke about plan fo patient with me via phone. She checked that family was involved in discharge plan and many other false statements. She spoke to no one just had him call to get someone to pick him up. He said when he called they came and told him he would be leaving and he didn't understand as he wasn't doing good. As of last Thursday, her statement to my daughter was patient would not get out until the earliest if then next week and they were possibly going to send him to the state hospital. He was picked up worse than when he went in. I called and confronted her with the false documents and her response was I am sorry I couldn't get a good number to call (like that excused her lying on documents). I asked her why the plan changed and he was discharged so abruptly and her reply was he said he wanted to leave. REALLY!!! another lie. He tried to overdose on drugs after one day out.. The problem with people having the mental illness is not that they don't try to get help but the state of the mental health industry is the issue. They do more harm than good pushing drugs that make people worse and then letting them go. This is not the end I will be filing complaints against this Betsy's license and Emerald Coast.
