Our family recently hired Mary Jo Odom (through Florida Nuptials) to take a family photo. We were…read morelooking forward to having this photo taken as this was the first time in many years that four generations of our family had come together. We all live in different parts of the country - trips like this don't come around very often. We thought that getting family photos together would be a great way to remember this time together. We just received the photos and were quite shocked at the quality. Out of 200+ photos, maybe 4 of them turned out okay. Everything about the photos is terrible. The lighting, staging, framing, etc...me taking photos on my iPhone would have turned out better (and cheaper). We wanted photos on the beach at sunset with the gulf in the background. She picked a time in the late afternoon/evening and assured us that this is when lighting would be best. We were pretty concerned that it was still too bright out but she said the lighting in the pictures would turn out fine. We trusted her. However, in the finished product, we are all squinting terribly, and sunlight is far too harsh in some places with weird shadows in other places. She had no idea how to stage these photos beyond us against the dunes (though we had previously stated we wanted the water in the background) or sitting in the sand (which we didn't really want to do). She didn't know what to do with us standing. As a result, we are all awkwardly standing next to each other. Some of us are touching, others are standing bizarrely far away from the person next to them. An experienced photographer would have seen that and fixed it. We brought all of these concerns up to her when we received our photos (late, of course) and were very condescendingly told that we should just be lucky that we still have four generations of family still alive. This "photographer" was highly unprofessional, late and seemingly inexperienced. Save your money, find someone else.
