The next morning I called the front desk and explained that I had to be in court 60 miles a away but I wanted to stay a few more nights. The lady said ok no problem, when you get back Just come talk to the desk attendant. I said it would be late before I'd be back. No problem she said. I got back at 3pm and my room key wouldn't work. I went to the front and before I could say anything I noticed all my stuff was moved out of my room and put behind the desk on a cart. I said "excuse me why are my things there" this is where the big bad manager comes and proceeds to tell me I had until 1 pm and that was the deadline to pay to stay. I told her the staff earlier told me not to worry if I would be late in the day. The manager didn't care & started to threaten me that if I didn't leave she was calling the cops. So I asked for my things and I expressed how unhappy I was. I went outside with my items to my car found that they broke my printer and my laptop was cracked. I went back inside and this manager would not talk to me and told me to leave her property would never be allowed back. That same morning at the breakfast I found food that was expired and moldy food it was pretty gross.

The bedding in our first room had visible stains, including orange/brown discoloration on the comforter, which is completely unacceptable. We notified the front desk and were offered to try a different room that was checked by the employee but I was informed that there was stains there too. At this point we decided to cut our losses and leave and ask for a refund which was thankfully given to us the following morning by a different management. We did have to reach out to them though. They never reached out to us. This was very frustrating after a long day of travel when all we needed was a clean place to rest. Cleanliness is the bare minimum expectation, and this experience did not meet that standard. The most concerning part was the lack of care from the front desk when we brought up the issue.

Our room was a double queen and it was large and spotless clean with tons of space for my laptop and all my chargers. The beds were clean and warm and our air-conditioning was powerful. The shower is spacious and complete with Dove soaps and shampoo and pleanty of fresh clean towels. The fitness center has benches, cable machines, dumbells, a bike and treadmills. The free breakfast was hot and fresh with eggs, waffles, omelets, bagels, oatmeal coffee and tons of other yummy stuff. The location is great with a Perkins in the same parking lot and a higher end steak house across the street. Plus, all.of Rapid City right down the road. Also, there is a incredible water park attached to the hotel but I was there on business and didn't have time to visit but I am sure it was awesome just like everything else at this hotel! I loved my stay and I will.definately stay here next time I am in Rapid City!!

The room was spacious and unique with a hi-top coffee bar facing out over the city. There was an easy chair and King bed. We had a fridge. The bathroom was fine - everything worked. We slept well the bed was comfy and the a/c was quiet and easy to use. The furnishings did seem a bit dated. The wall had a large map of Rapid City. We had a sit down dinner with our group and the service was outstanding. I ordered a filet mignon which was prime beef that was truly excellent. My wife got a walleye that she did not like apparently too bony. We had a nice breakfast before leaving and this was the only restaurant on the entire tour that provided me with crisp bacon which I always ask for. We would stay here again when in the area. "The lightnin' rod, strike it hot It's gonna hit you like…read morethe Rushmore rock" (AC/DC) WHAT WENT WELL: The location is excellent, within a very walkable distance of many restaurants and Presidential statues. The room was decent sized, the beds were comfortable, the HVAC and Wi-Fi worked well, the room had a nice work desk, and the shower pressure and temperature were excellent. Bottles of water were available in the lobby for just one dollar with payment on the honor system. We had one dinner here and that was fantastic. The food servers and staff in general were very good. BREAKFAST REVIEW: The buffet had some good hot dishes, especially corned beef hash which is always appreciated. There were just two types of cereal, and there was just bread - no English muffins or bagels. There were zero Danishes, pastries, or muffins, which are pretty much standard in other hotel breakfasts. They had whole fruit for your yogurt and granola, but the cut fruit was obviously from a can. IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES: We saw many examples for improvement opportunities. The arms on the room's upholstered chair were badly worn out, and more significantly, the vinyl on both headboards were badly ripped and missing chunks. Our room had no refrigerator. We stayed at seven hotels on our tour, and this was the only hotel room without one. Even the peephole on the door was an issue, it was set so high on the door, I couldn't even see through it when I stood on tippy toes. There were enough electrical plugs in the room for for charging, but the two on the nightstand didn't work. The bathtub floor was chipped and was extremely slippery. Thank goodness there were grab-bars on two walls. The tub drained slowly, even with the drain removed, which is how we found it when we took occupancy. The water pooled for a while before it emptied.

I found a bandaid wrapper which against a rug that is quite dark it is very obvious. A used fork was also under the sink and a pubic hair in the shower that didn't belong to me. There were crumbs here and there. I bright this to the attention of the front desk clerk and they said they'd let housekeeping know. She was not concerned or horrified at all. As a travel agent I cannot in good conscious recommend this place to anyone. Steer clear!!!!! I left a nasty note and a $5.00 tip for housekeeping in the room hoping they'd do their job so the next person doesn't have to worry if their room was properly cleaned or even sanitized!!!! The view from our window was obstructed by plastic sheeting. There was a strong chemical smell in the hallways and our room (233) smelled of strong chlorine or bleach. The room was clean and comfortable enough, but the water pressure was terrible and it was hard to get all the soap/shampoo off. Their full breakfast service is not open so they give you a bag with a few packaged food items. They also provide coffee and juice. We didn't call the hotel prior to booking to ask questions so we didn't know about the construction, the bagged breakfast, or their staffing issues (as one employee offered up). If you are considering staying here, I definitely recommend calling ahead to see if these issues have been rectified. Overall, the hotel isn't too bad and has potential to be a decent place to stay. I do wish they had taken extra care to place visitors (us) away from rooms that were affected by the construction. It wasn't full, so this should have been a priority for them.

Our room had been fully paid for since March, and the hotel had been notified in advance that we would be arriving late. Despite this, the front desk employee refused to let us check in unless we paid for an additional night. We were traveling with our family, including small children, and were left stranded in the middle of the night with no car and nowhere to stay. At 2:30 a.m., we had to walk to another hotel hoping they had a room available. Thankfully, they did because of a last-minute cancellation. The next morning, I spoke with the manager, Stacy, who was absolutely horrified by what had happened. She sincerely apologized, refunded our stay, provided complimentary breakfast for our family of four, arranged a ride for my husband to pick up our rental car, and reimbursed our Uber from the night before. Her kindness and professionalism completely changed our impression of the hotel. While I truly appreciate everything Stacy did to make things right, the overnight employee's actions were unacceptable. A family with young children should never be turned away from a room that was fully paid for and reserved months in advance after the hotel had been informed of a delayed arrival. I hope additional training is provided so no other family has to go through what we experienced.
