The property manager, Lorena, ALWAYS greeted me with a smile and a check in, which made living there feel truly like home. She went over and above her required job, even wishing me well on holidays, knowing my family was on the East Coast. My only recommendation is to convert the on-site laundry to a card system, although if keeping the coin system keeps costs low ($4 a load in 5/2026), maybe no change is needed! Ocean West is in the heart of a quiet, residential community and adjacent to a school with plenty of on street parking for guests and walkable to 711, Walmart, PetSmart, and Tokyo Central. Very close to Del Amo Mall and an 9 minute ride to the Esplanade in Redondo Beach.

However, communication about maintenance schedules and water shutoffs could have been more consistent. We usually didn't get emails nor texts which would have been more appreciated. She does yearly inspections too. We loved that we had an online portal for payments. The apartment itself was a good sized one bedroom. We had our own heater which was inside the walk in closet. We had one parking spot for us with more storage in the parking spot. Downside of this apartment is that they are not double paned windows so dust and noise are inevitable. You hear everything. Walls are very thin. We were on the first floor and we could hear everything. There are two rooms of laundry and uses Bluetooth for payment which was amazing. However, only a few work. I believe the residents have reported it several times but no action was done. The residents of the complex were mostly couples and single residents. Only a few people had families. With that said, I think this apartment complex is more appropriate for couples and singles who are looking for a more quiet and intimate space. I wouldn't say this place is family friendly.

The whole place is gated, and my bike is not visible to anyone outside the complex, so it must mean that someone in the complex stole it. They cut my lock off and took my bike. The landlady doesn't care because she just puts signs saying she is not responsible and won't put up security cameras. She said whatever happens is your responsibility. I have lived in about 10 apartments in my lifetime and I have NEVER experienced anything like this before. My bike wasn't even worth that much so it really shows what type of low life people live here that would just steal their neighbors bike to sell. And having the landlady onsite living here is worthless since she won't do anything. This place is the most insecure place I've ever lived. Also, it's winter now and the windows are so thin, you can hear all the traffic and fire trucks pass every night. And the temperature in the apartment is just as cold as the temperature outside because there is zero insulation. This is the worst place I've ever lived and cost too much for the location. The laundry card machine is constantly broken so you can't do your laundry unless you put $100+ in your card assuming you want to live at this dump for that long because you won't get that money back if you don't use it all.

Paint splatters everywhere, cheap appliances, no AC, huge gaps underneath the island connecting to the floor, garage storages are disgusting, and that's just a few examples. This isn't even the biggest and most disturbing issue. I say again - It's property management! One person in particular = NADIA! Nadia is only responsive when it benefits her. Otherwise, you will not hear from her. She contacted me three times for my renters insurance despite this already being sent to her via text twive AND then the 3rd time threatened to charge me for not having it on file. What's mind boggling is if what I provided wasn't sufficient documentation there should've been communication. Not one time! She even said thanks when it was provided. I digress. She rides around on her golf cart to walk her dog, leaves work early to pick up her daughter & doesn't return (I can't even begin to tell you how many times I tried to catch her in the office - never there!), and doesn't even communicate to her co-workers about the issues on this property. Nadia knew the day I moved out, when I followed back up and randomly stopped by because of the lack of response, and NOW I've asked about my Security Deposit twice with absolutely no response. I will be placing identity fraud alerts on our information because who knows what lengths she will go to hurt me and my family. Original review: If I can provide less stars, I truly would. Our family of 4 resided here from May 2024 through June 2025. We did the 13 month lease with $1000 off for the life of the lease (it was a promotion that was going on at the time). Nadia Padilla is extremely UNPROFESSIONAL. From the start, we should've known, however due to circumstances out of our control, we dealt with the hands we were given. First, when we applied, she had a trainee, Kelly-- super sweet and kind, and Nadia GASPED audibly when she saw mine and my husband's paystubs as part of the application. And she asked us if it was ok to show Kelly-- stating she will be showing Kelly later anyways to process the application. Second, she took FOREVER to communicate material and necessary information about our application, deposit and move in date. She didn't get us a copy of the lease till we were moving in. Third, our laundry machine was out for over 2 months and I had to threaten legal action to get the washing machine fixed. She had us walk down our laundry two buildings down and use their washing machine, unload it and use our dryer in our unit. Mind you, in both locations, the washer and dryer are upstairs. To add insult to injury, she knew I had a newborn and a toddler -- so laundry was basically a daily thing I had to do. I got in contact with the service they contract with and I found out that she did not call them timely, and when the service person came to look at the washer, he then had to wait for Nadia to approve the parts for purchase. She did NOT return their call in a timely manner which caused delay. Again, UNPROFESSIONAL. This is a listed amenity. They cannot advertise it as part of the unit and deliberately delay the maintenance of it. Fourth, we noticed that our rent was not matching up to the numbers we were seeing. In the middle of our lease it appears they switched programs or providers of the rent management. We were previously able to pay rent ahead of the due date, but for some reason the rent was increasing despite meeting the balance. We finally inquired why there was such an increase and again, she was unprofessional and said every penny was accounted for in their ledger. Kelly, finally told us it appears there is a CREDIT of a few hundred dollars and advised us not to pay ahead and wait for the bill to actually show up to pay. It worked. Fifth, the garages are shared. Our particular unit, 2665 unit A, has two tandem parking spots that share with unit B- who also park in tandem. Unit B moved out in Nov during Thanksgiving. Because of toddler and baby, when we noticed they were no longer there, so at times we would park the car in the middle but we mostly parked within our lanes. Come December we were notified that cars will be parked next to us-- we don't know who. So for a MONTH two cars were parked next to us and it appeared as if it was to prevent us from parking more comfortably. We expressed concern about who the owners of the cars were because Nadia specifically said only people who live in our building will have access to the garage. It wasn't our neighbors' car for sure. Lastly, we cleaned this place from top to bottom for DAYS. Yet we were charged $500 for cleaning fee. For those of you who have the time to do a small claims, I would encourage you to. I say this because when our neighbors moved out, NO ONE CLEANED THAT PLACE WITHIN 21 DAYS OF THEIR MOVE OUT. In fact, that unit was not rented out until April-- and literally a week prior is when that unit had ANY cleaners and painters come. I know many will think this may be a one off, but I promise you it's not. I have been a renter for more than half my life at this point and I have never met a leasing manager this unprofessional. I hope you never have to deal with her.

However, a couple of drawbacks are the absence of charging points in the apartment's garage, which prevents me from charging my electric vehicle, and the lack of dumbbells in the gym area. These were clearly communicated by Marylou during the site visit. However, it would be greatly appreciated if these amenities could be added in the future. Its part of one of the best school district in LA and a family friendly neighborhood. Invest the time in your apartment search to look elsewhere! Azure is a great spot to live, albeit…read morewithout any amenities to justify such high rental rates for the area. There is no doorman, package room, pool, roof-deck, gym or any other convenience that one can usually find standard in a similar type of rental community in the Hermosa/Redondo Beach area. Azure's management company, Pan American, is a master of the "bait and switch" sales tactic in which they'll lure you in with rental concessions and then increase your rental rates as soon as your initial lease expires. Their rates are inflated for the market, which is why there are units sitting vacant with little interest from prospective tenants. The rent for my unit increased 12% year-over-year when you factor in the initial rent concession to bait us to move in and the property management company tried to claim that increased rental rates for the renewal are aligned with the local market. If that were true, there wouldn't be vacant units in the building with such high turnover. I offered to keep my rent flat in order to renew my lease, which is still 9% higher than my effective rent during the initial lease and they rejected the proposal. They would rather lose money offering a rental concession to new tenants than keep an existing tenant at full-price. Pan American's corporate greed and senseless business practices are unethical and tacky. Do yourself a favor and pass on this property!

This building changed owners about a year ago and is now professionally managed by Pan American…read moreProperties, Inc. of Tustin, CA. The building does not have an on-site manager, but the manager has been quite responsive when I have reported problems. Without an on-site manager, package delivery services are somewhat questionable. Some packages do get delivered inside the security gate somehow, but some get left outside the gate by the mailboxes. I have chosen to have my packages delivered to The UPS Store less than a mile away. That has proven to be convenient enough for me. The new owners have done significant work on the property since they acquired it. The building has new exterior paint and landscaping. They are in the process of refurbishing the units with new cabinets, appliances, hardwood floors, and vertical blinds. There are sixteen units in the building, eight of which have two bedrooms, and the other eight have one bedroom. The building has a laundromat in the basement. Refurbished units are getting a stacked washer/dryer unit as well. All units come with a garage. Residents of two-bedroom units get their own two-car garage with over-hood storage cabinets. Those in one-bedroom units share a garage. The parking area has a security gate, and the garage doors can be locked as well, if desired. Additional storage space may be available for rent. The building is pet-friendly. First floor units are accessible to disabled people, but the wheelchair-bound may need to install a threshold ramp. There are no outdoor spaces for recreation, nor does the building have any other shared recreational facilities. Natural gas, water, and trash service are included in the rent. Time Warner Cable provides TV, phone, and broadband. Verizon services the area, and their phone and DSL services are available in the building. Only the slowest DSL service is available here. Verizon's FiOS is available in the street, but for some unknown reason, the ownership has chosen to not have it installed in the building. I find this puzzling given the effort they are putting into updating the property. My understanding is that Verizon will install it in the building for free, if allowed. My unit is quite comfortable. The living room in the two-bedroom units is quite large. The unit is heated by a single double-sided gas wall unit between the living room and the hall to the bedrooms. This means that the bedroom doors must be left open in the winter to allow heated air to flow into them. The neighbors in the building are all very nice. Unfortunately, more than half of them have moved out or are preparing to since I moved in. Apparently, after the building changed hands, the rent for the current residents was increased substantially to the extent that several of them have been forced to move out. The situation with the rents for the current residents who were here before the building changed hands is so extreme that it has me wondering how fairly rents will be handled from year to year. The building is less than half a mile from South Bay Galleria. That puts most shopping and several dining options within walking distance. Bus service is also convenient. Stops are located at the corner of Artesia and Inglewood a short block away, and the nearby mall is serviced by several lines; so public transportation is quite easy from this location.
