My surgeon has been great thru my knee surgery process. The rest of my experience has been far from good. To begin with they never said I had to prepay for my surgery. After surgery is scheduled and preop interview was done, they say it has to be paid or they won't do it. I ask why no one ever said that and got no answer. Then I ask if ill get an itemized receipt showing what im paying for and was told no. When im about to cancel my surgery they find a way to send me an itemized receipt. Day before my surgery I send in a form from my employer so that I xan do light duty. I finally get the form 8 days after I had sent it. This is after 6 or 8 phone calls and a handful of portal messages. I ask to speak to the practice manager that is in charge of the office and get sent to his/her phone where i leave a voicemail. No call back as of now and that was about 27 hours ago. One of the doctors nurses has a bad attitude problem as well... read more

I was having knee problems and was referred to Emerge Ortho by one of my neighbors. Dr. A. Kersten performed knee replacement surgery and I was back home the next day. There were some complications during rehab nevertheless I'm fully recovered, and the knee functions well without pain! Dr Kersten and his assistant are genuinely thoughtful and amiable, and the office staff were professional and friendly. i went there as a walk in and was told it would not be long. An hour and a half later after being told I was next I was still sitting there. Nobody came out to talk to me. If I had known it would have been that long a wait I would have come back. The front desk woman with redish glasses didn't even say she was sorry when I asked for a refund. Referred by a friend after hurting my shoulder I left a very nice email for George Floyd on 12/7/23 who did not respond to my email, so I left a message on the companies general website contact me page. Still no answer. With it being the holidays, I called the office to ask if Mr. Floyd was on vacation. The Receptionist was not at all friendly and did not answer my question, but sternly asked "who is this"? When I told her I had been trying to get an email reply since 12/7/23 she informed me like I should already have been aware "You have to go see your Doctor and be referred to us". She clearly did not apologize for their office ignoring my contact attempts, so I will be certain not to work with this company. It's 2023 folks, Customer Service is not something you can go without. Off to find their competitor and hope I have a friendly experience. I do not beg anyone to take my money. :( Shameful. read more

I was referred here by the FastMed clinic where I went when a sewing machine needle went through my index finger and a piece broke off. The PA at FastMed had attempted to remove it but had no luck. He contacted EmergOrtho ( formerly Blue Ridge Bone and Joint) and they were able to see me the next day. Blessedly, Dr. Napoli is a conservative surgeon and suggested we just leave the minuscule fragment in so as to prevent further trauma to my digit. That was such a relief! He schedule a suture removal for 10 days later but assured me I could have it removed by my own doctor so I wouldn't have to return to Hendersonville! I thought that was quite considerate. The office is clean and neat. The office and nursing staff are warm and friendly. We had about a 15 minute wait despite being a last minute appointment. read more

I don't have any complaints about the care I received at 800 Fleming Street. I do, however, have real problems with the atmosphere. If you are comfortable in a large room where all the therapists are male and all the assistants and receptionists are female, where the men give the orders, choose the music, make every decision, and "rule the room" you will be comfortable here and possibly thrive. If, however, you think the world has progressed since the 1950's and that women have something to contribute to the general wellness of our society, you might be more comfortable elsewhere. I have given Dr. Hicks a chance at Emerge Ortho to professionally find what might be aggravating my shoulders, and rib cage among other things. On our first appointment, he sidled real close to me and asked me where I went to high school. Really? Is that why I was there, to answer questions about my personal life? Absolutely not. He ended up moving my arm around a bit and pressing on my shoulder muscles and suggesting a cortisone shot. I went back for a follow up 3 weeks later and was still in a lot of discomfort. He didn't exam my shoulder and said that I needed an MRI of shoulder and neck. (Since I hadn't been treated for my neck they later denied that part after I made a phone call after nobody called me, but approved the shoulder). What a waste of my time. He left the room satisfied that his office earned his $. I won't go back. Obviously Cigna, my insurance company does not feel that Emerge Ortho meets the Cigna Tier criteria to lower my copay from $70 to $50. I even ended up owing $40 in back copay because of their designation and was hounded daily by phone calls and and bills. I will go to another office if I ever need to. read more

They found that my neck had stenosis and some other severe thins that needed fixing quickly. They were great, informative, did the surgery promptly and hopeful will relieve some the pain. They plan to do another surgery when my body is ready. Dr answered all my questions and had another appt. before surgery to explain what will be done. They couldn't have been nicer. I underwent a Flexor Tendon Repair of two fingers of my right hand that were lacerated in a fall. As a veteran, the VA does not perform microscopic surgery. I was referred to Dr. Napoli on the same day that I initially saw the hand surgeon at the VA. That physician called him and within 5 minutes, Dr. Napoli returned his call and scheduled me for exam the next day. Dr. Napoli immediately scheduled me for surgery the following working day, on Monday at Pardee. The surgery took longer than Dr. Napoli had anticipated, but he is so skilled and dedicated to perfection, that it didn't appear to bother him. He conservatively prescribed me Tylenol #3 for after surgery pain, which felt like I had a ball of fire in my palm and then was nailed to a cross. I got really emotional about that and he assured me that if I took the T3 with 800mg of Motrin, it would relieve the pain adequately. I had my doubts. He further assured me that if it didn't work effectively, he would prescribe something stronger. I must say, it worked like a charm. I cannot express my gratitude to Dr. Napoli and his assistant, Lauren, enough for the care they provided me. Dr. Napoli is no nonsense, serious and knows his business! This man is as professional as it gets! Even with my feeble attempts at jokes, I managed to get a smile or two out of him. He is truly my hero! He told me once that the injury that I incurred was the worse type to repair and predict functionality. He even stated that had this injury occurred 10 years ago, they would not have attempted a repair. I would have been maimed for life. I still have stiffness, nerve pain, and reduced strength and ability in the hand, but I'll take it!! I thank God for the dedication that he gave wonderful surgeons like Dr. Napoli. He is truly among the top hand surgeons in the world!! Now, the day surgery clinic at Pardee- another story. Because the surgery and recovery took longer than expected, I was not awake when the clinic was scheduled to close. There were tow nurses in the recovery room. To wake me up, one of the nurses started bumping me in the head to wake up! That was a rude awakening! My nerves were rattled, to say the least. I asked for Dr. Napoli and she said that he was gone already. (Not true) I asked to speak with any MD available and finally the Anesthesiologist that assisted in my surgery came to find out what was wrong. I don't recall his name, but I'll never forget his kindness. He comforted me and told me that I should not have had to go through that after all that I had already been through that day. soon thereafter, Dr. Napoli appeared and listened to my concerns as well. Dr David Napoli corrected the Depuytren's Contracture in the little finger of my right hand in January 2015. While living in another state I had previously undergone Xiaflex injections for the same finger which lasted about a year and a half. Last year I had the little finger of the left hand done using the "needle" treatment that I can never remember the name for and it seems to be doing much better than my first experience with Xiaflex. Dr Napoli also favored that procedure this go-around. My initial consult with Dr Napoli convinced me he was the doctor for the job. He's very thorough and explained everything he was proposing to do in terms even I could understand. The day surgery facility (Pardee) is right across the street and handled me very well. Following surgery I had no pain and only a little discomfort from a splint (which was alleviated for the most part during a short office visit for adjustment). I recommend Dr Napoli without reservation and am looking forward to a return engagement to release a "trigger finger" condition in another finger. read more

Dr. Lilly is the best! He has been my ortho for about 1 year, following me for a hip replacement done 20+ years ago. Recently I accidentally fell at a store, knee first on a concrete floor. Broke my patella (kneecap) in half. I saw him the Monday after my injury and was scheduled for surgery the next day. I am so grateful for his excellent care and expertise. I recently went to see Dr. Hicks for an emergency room follow up for my ankle. He never LOOKED at my ankle. He never TOUCHED my ankle. He started giving me excuses as to why he shouldn't bother with an MRI. Then he rolled his little stool over to my chair and took my hand. He started manipulating each finger , bending, turning, like you would during a Carpal Tunnel exam. I told him this was painful yet he proceeded and then took my other hand and started doing the same, a bit more aggressively. I wasn't really sure what was going on, since I was there for my ANKLE. I told him that I work with my hands as an artist and that I am on the computer a lot. Then with one last painful bend of my thumb he said "No, I was going to tell you that you should stay off the computer and not be googling diagnoses.", as he rolled his stool back to his notes. I don't appreciate a physician purposefully inflicting pain on me in order to make a snarky ill informed and unprofessional comment. read more
