Emerson Home Services did an outstanding job on my recent roof replacement. For starters, Shay Downey really went to bat for me with my insurance company. Initially, the insurance was only going to pay for a partial roof replacement along with some ceiling repairs, but after Shay worked his magic, they not only agreed to reroof the whole thing, but they also agreed to redeck it as well. The roof replacement actually took place today, and I couldn't be happier with the results! First of all, Adam Chastain, who oversaw everything, is awesome at what he does. He's great at communicating and was easy to get in contact if I needed anything. Best of all, he guided his team to do top-notch work for me at every phase of the job...from the decking installation, to the drip edges on the rake edges and the eave edges, flashing around the dormers, to the actual installation of the shingles themselves, and more. Additionally, Adam had his team do a couple of things that weren't even called for in the contract like replacing the decrepit flashing around my chimney and having them seal and repair a leaky attic window that had been the source of a lot of water damage in the past. Furthermore, the crew themselves were hard working, skilled, and super friendly. I genuinely couldn't be any more pleased with my roof replacement. I'm really glad I went with this company, and I'm now recommending them to a good friend of mine who's also in the market for a roof replacement. read more

If I could have given them 0 stars I would have. We used Emerson Home Services to replace our roof, covered by insurance. Our whole experience was extremely unprofessional from beginning to end. Prior to having the replacement we had zero issues with the skylights in our sunroom. However, after the installation all three of our skylights began to leak. No one ever brought to our attention that they may become an issue nor did they recommend having them replaced in the beginning assessment. After speaking with our insurance company, they also told us they could have been covered if there was an issue with them at the time of the assessment or if the contractor felt that they would become an issue and at this point are the liability of the contractor. Emerson Home Services proceeded to tell us we would have to cover the entire cost to replace all three skylights and there was nothing they could do. My husband managed to get them to pay for half of the cost, again after they caused this damage and even received text messages from the sales associate that during the installation the contractors realized there was an issue and it was never brought up. During this time we asked for the pricing for the replacement, as we agreed to pay half to no longer have to deal with this situation and to have our roof stop leaking before more damage was done. They sent us an invoice, from a 3rd party contractor, that they had doctored to reflect a higher amount then what was actually being charged. They told us it was going to be $650 per skylight when on this companies website it clearly stated that the pricing ranged from $149 to $550, after reading this we received our own quote just to make sure and to our findings it was $550 each. So not only did they cause this issue they were trying to make money off us having to pay a portion to fix it. All in all, the way this whole situation was handled was extremely unprofessional and I would NEVER recommend doing business with this company especially knowing that the people actually installing the roof are not even employees to the company. They subcontracted out all of the work. If you are looking to have your roof replaced please use ANY OTHER COMPANY! read more

He reliably checked progress until completion. MAN . . . homeownership can be hard some times. Don't get me wrong . . . Home ownership has its rewards - but it can be soooo difficult finding reputable, reliable competent people for renovations and repairs. I had a guy - NOT Emerson Home Services - put a roof on my existing deck nearly six months ago and it leaked from day one. I iniitially interviewed several contractors and Emerson is one of the people I interviewed. While Emerson's guy (Blake Baggett) was personable, charming and most importantly, knowledgeable. He seemed like a good, honest guy - and the company had a good BBB rating and good ratings on Kudzu - but the cost was just outside my budget. Also - FYI - the company I chose to use was NOT the cheapest - but they gave me a detailed estimate, references, contractor license # - at a pretty affordable price. They allowed me to pay Home Depot directly for materials, the balance (labor) upon completion of job. Also - they actually showed up on the day promised to start the job - unlike the two other contractors that had scheduled previously!!! But I digress - this is a review for Emerson - not that other guy. (I'll post a separate review for them later.) Recently - I spoke to Emerson's salesman again (the aforementioned Blake Baggett) and he came out and gave me a pretty reasonable estimate to repair / replace the horrible job the initial contractor did. I was super impressed - said he would be able to salvage some of the materials used and he even went so far as to say I wouldn't have to pay a dime until both 1) AFTER the work had been done - 2) AFTER we'd experienced some rainstorms to verify that the structure was leak-free. He emailed the estimate - and I emailed him back asking that he include the details he'd given verbally and also include the payment terms. He said he would - and yet its been over 2 months and each time i call him to request the amended estimate - he either flat out ignores me or has an excuse as to why he hasn't sent over the new estimate. (Yes - two months - apparently I'm a glutton for punishment.) I don't know if he's uncomfortable putting the promised information in writing or if he's 'punishing' me for not using his company the first time around - but I found the whole experience frustrating and somewhat disturbing. Yes - I made a mistake by choosing a horrible contractor the first time around - but if he had an issue - he should have just refused to come out to give me the estimate the second time. Or maybe - I'm a jaded butthole and he's really just super, super busy. I'm done stalking him, though. Lol. Argh. Oh well . . . the search is back on for a competent roofer. read more

I am only giving them one star because I have to! DO NOT USE them! I had one of their "inspectors" look at my roof and he actually bent shingles on one side of my roof to try to make it look like wind damage! He was trying to guarantee that there was three sides of the house showing damage so the insurance would replace the roof! (Which is insurance fraud!) read more

Thanks this company has held my hand and walked me through every part of the process. I was wouldn't have my new roof if they hadn't knocked on my door. I tried filing a claim on it by myself but was denied, they pushed for a readjust, and got it approved from for full replacement. The ladies I spoke with are friendly and professional.
