Echols has done a number of major (new roof with rain gutters, sunroom, etc.) and many minor renovations (front door, fascia boards and trims, new roof on shed, etc.) on my home over the last 18 years. They have always done top quality work and I have never had a complaint ( I am picky too!). In fact, they went above and beyond to take care with other existing home elements and they clean up so well you can't tell they were even there after the work is done. Their master carpenter, Sebastian, is extremely skilled and experienced. I marvel at his knowledge and how he strives for perfection. He is also friendly and responsive. I would recommend Echols to anyone without hesitation. I am considering some additional work on my house and Echols will be my first choice. read more

I called to get a free inspection because of some minor wear and tear damage to several areas of my roof. The person who answered said that someone would call me--she didn't know when (early disorganization sign), but no sooner than Monday. Got after Monday and Chad scheduled with me for the following Tuesday. However got a got the following Monday that Chad is not available. Okay, not a big deal. Someone came out on Monday (Not Chad). Well I had to talk to this guy through his truck window and he was not very polite (not rude, just not polite). After looking at the roof, he informed me I need a new roof. I asked him what existing damage he saw. He said he didn't see any except the one spot I pointed out to him. Either he didn't really look at my roof carefully or he doesn't know anything about roofs because I have some other places with damage pointed out by other roofers (ALWAYS get multiple estimates). Can't speak to their ability to install roofs because this company won't get that far with me. If they don't treat your right before they even make a sale, you can't hope for better afterward. I bet that guy's goal is to sell as many roofs as he can to as many suckers as he can. This company would be better off having people who can identify damage do the inspections instead of just getting guys who tell people they need new roofs. I'm sure they would actually sell more new roofs that way. read more

All of this rain reminds me that I'm so glad we had Echol's Roofing fix our roof back in August. We got quotes from several companies and they were competitive. I'd like to share a great experience that we had with Echols and one of their roofing team members, Billy Dodd. My wife and I had a leak in our upstairs bedroom that came through during a heavy rain a few weeks ago. After finding Echols in a "Best of Atlanta" guide, we tried to set up time with them for a repair estimate. We had someone out within a day to take a look at the roof. Billy was extremely courteous and walked me through where he believed the leak to be. While to repair was a little pricier than I expected, Billy got me on the schedule quickly and offered to help do the general shingle maintence we needed as well. After a week or so, Billy came back out to complete the repairs. While I wasn't able to be home, Billy took a number of pictures of the before and after work and identified the issue where we expected. We have not additional issues since the repair and would recommend Echols and Billy for future work. read more

This group gets a low review for me as I tried to ask them to come out to repair some siding at my house. This is not a review of what kind of work they do onsite but of their customer service that I experienced. Although I had given this group my information and the work that I was hoping to get done, they were telling me that my work was not "an emergency" and that they had been in business for 50 years and needed to attend to their regular customers in light of a major storm that had just passed. Why go through the extend of sharing all of that? If they had all of that in mind and knew I was not a repeat customer w/ an emergency, why go through the trouble of data collection with a "may be call you back" and extracting more information...and at the end basically saying that they will attend only to their regular, repeat customers? Maybe that's good customer service in their point of view, but they lost credibility in my books and I won't be contacting them for any further home improvements/repairs. Very dismal and poor service w/ this group. read more

Echols has done several repairs for us. They replaced a roof, replaced gutters, replaced old vinyl siding with Hardie Plank cement board, and replaced windows. Also repaired a deck. All quality work, at a fair price, with no high pressure sales. Very straightforward and a pleasure to work with. read more

We called Echols to get a quote on replacing our windows. (They were listed in 2020 Spring Edition of "Best Picks" Atlanta. Our call was returned by a Gainesville number & we don't answer calls not recognized. "Mona" left a VM that "they could not help us out as ALL of their "crew" was in Dublin Ga working on a job". Don't know why this Co. Is Listed in the 2020 Spring version of "Atlanta Picks" (for Buckhead and Midtown) if they are such a small company they don't have enough reps to serve metro Atlanta. And the receptionists need to be told to quit asking for people's addresses when they call to speak to a rep for a quote. We were also asked for an email! Why ask all of this info if the Co is too small to do much work? Last thing we want in America's warzone right now is some stranger with our address, knowing we have the means to get a $20+K job done. Sorry you lost our business... "Echols". read more

Called Echols Roofing to inspect our roof after high winds ripped off some tiles. I was called back within 30 minutes of leaving a message and an appointment was promptly organized. Gregg Bennett contacted me to let me know the day and time for confirmation. He showed up at the exact appointed time, explained what he saw and then gave me a quote fix the repairs. I am shocked to see the low scores on this company. I found them in the 'Best Pick Reports' we got in the mail and so glad I did! AC was our contact the entire time and was WONDERFUL! He held my hand through the whole experience of replacing our entire siding, new shutters, and front door. We were SO SO PLEASED with the end result. The crew was thorough and very polite (don't speak much English) but they did great work! I would recommend in a heartbeat and I will to all my friends. I used Echols several years ago to replace a roof. They weren't the cheapest but I went with them because of their reputation. Fast forward to 2019, I needed larger vents for the exhaust fans in our bathrooms. The vents installed by Echols were too small for larger fans. We were having moisture problems in the bathrooms and needed larger vents. In short, Echols refused to replace the vents on the roof with larger vents (they had installed the existing vents), apparently because the job wasn't big enough. What good is a roofer if they won't help you with follow up work that doesn't involve replacing an entire roof? I rate them very poor for customer service and arrogant attitude. Now I'm left with trying to find another roofer to handle a small job, which is very difficult to do. I would never call them again and never recommend them. If you use them, be prepared for "no" when you need follow up work. read more

Contacted Echols regarding a leak in our roof. Gregg was able to find the problem immediately and provided a detailed estimate. He repaired the roof the following day and we have had no further problems since. Very positive experience, not to mention he had to drive across Atlanta to reach us. Highly recommend. read more

I've had AC at Echols install 13 windows at my house on two different occasions, and I would not call anyone else. His crew installed the Simonton 5500 series, and they are beautiful. The windows came in on time, his crew showed up on time, did exactly what was described beforehand and left my place cleaner than when they arrived. There were no hiccups and no surprises. Echol's roofing was just one of 3 business's that we interviewed and we were pleased with the customer service. Jeff Oggletree was professional and provided with the information we needed and worked with us on price, although roof prices sure are high. As soon as the rainy off and on weather stopped, we got a call that they would be there the next day and it would take 2-3 days. On the first day, they got 80% done! They finished the next and cleaned up and the roof looks great. We will now wait for a good rain to be sure that no leaks occur. I'm sure Echol's will provide us with excellent care if something happens, or at least that's our hope. read more

Had an intermittent leak in a 20 year old roof (30 year shingles). Elected to try a repair instead of replacement. This was done in Aug. 2020 by Billy Dodd & 2 helpers. Took about 3 hours at a cost of $2500. Seemed a bit high but came with 1 year warranty. Intermittent leak continued - in different places and not with every rain. Unusual ceiling construction and insulation caused leak to show at locations other than where water penetrated. Billy was out 2 other times about a month apart when I reported more leaks. Each time he did more repairs but the leak continued but not after every rain. In Dec. 2020 I requested a different repair person come and Mark Ashe (Echols President) came and climbed on the roof with me. After studying the situation he admitted he was not sure they could find the leak and preferred to return all my money. Said he would sleep better at night. My full $2500 was promptly returned and I will now start over and replace the entire roof. For the sincere effort Echols made to made things right plus the honesty I think they deserve 4 stars. I'm not sure other firms could have done better. My regret is not doing a complete reroof in the first place. read more

Note: This is a review for the customer service of Echols, as I was pushed away from actually using their services by their own associate. Called Echols wanting to get 9 windows replaced and attic insulation done. I was talked out of it by a terse associate who explained that for anything less than 10 windows it would be at least $600 per window and a $20 fee just to get a quote! I asked if anything could be done since 9 was close to 10, and was shut down indicating that "we have to have a cutoff somewhere." While that is a perfectly logical statement, it was incredibly rude and did not help me want to give them any of my business now or any time in the future. The associate also said that the additional work for attic insulation (giving them more business) had "nothing to do with windows" and would have no impact on pricing them. Again, this associate enjoyed pointing out the obvious in stating that windows are not insulation, and it again was incredibly rude. Be warned that you will be treated like just a number, and not a customer with whom they want to build a relationship. read more

Called company for roof leak estimate based on great reviews in all those free home improvement "best of books" After repeated phone calls they promised to have someone call me to set up appointment this week. Of course it's Friday and I've heard nothing so at 12:10pm today I call and got the service who informs me that the office is closed for the weekend. They also close at 3:00pm during the week. I called Echol's because one of my neighbor's used them to do some work on their shingles and I had a similar project at my home. One of Echol's contractors came out to my home last week (showed up almost an hour late) and gave me some options and said he would send me a written quote which I never got. Today, I received a phone call from Mark (I believe he is one of the owners) and he said they took on a larger job/contract so they could not do the work at my house and he just abruptly hung up in my face without giving me any other options or time to respond. It's obvious that they do not look out for "the little guy" and have no problem leaving customers in the dust. I felt the need to write this review to warn others. I guess the $15,000+ job I was willing to give them was not good enough. I also work in the city's building industry and could have brought them additional residential and commercial business. You never know who your potential customers could be Echol's! I would give them zero stars if this was an option. It's no coincidence that other reviewers of this company feel the same way I do and are totally dissatisfied with Echol's lack of customer service. This seems to be a common theme amongst other reviewers. I would NEVER recommend this company. read more

Not the cheapest quote but I was very happy with the customer service and workmanship. Big job and they brought out 10-12 guys to complete the work in a timely manner. They also did a great job helping me select the shingle type / color...bringing over many, many samples until we finally figured it out...very helpful. read more

I don't understand some of the negative reviews. This is the second time we've used them and they have always been good at communicating the timing of service as well as the costs. Our roof leak was repaired quickly and we were given options on simply fixing the leak or replacing the entire flashing. I also like their personal follow-up as a locally owned business. read more

I must say that I'm a critical consumer and don't often provide the maximum rating on anything. That said, I think Echols did a great job with the timeliness, quality of workmanship, and cleanup of the project. I was told they would start early but as I got dressed I didn't believe anyone would start as stated. I was surprised that just as the sun came up, a full crew was outfitted, had covers over my shrubs and were prepared to go to work at the exact hour promised. They worked all day...didn't interrupt me at all, except for the obvioius knocking as they nailed the shingles to the roof. I can't say enough that I was truly impressed and would definitely recommend them again. In fact, I am waiting on a chimney repair right now. read more

We received a quote from Greg Bennett for a leak on our patio roof and another spot on one of our vents. They were not the cheapest, but we checked with the BBB and found no complaints. Greg impressed us with his knowledge and was thorough. The crew showed up on time and finished the job the same day. Had the worst experience with the estimator. He was arrogant, obnoxious, and belligerent. He essentially told me that he didn't want my business because I was probably looking for the low-cost provider (even though I told him to give me an estimate on architectural shingles, which are not inexpensive), and he drove away. I would never use Echols. read more
