I went here based off of another review when I first moved to New Orleans 6 years ago, and have refused to go anywhere else since. I've gotten a bunch of different things fixed, and have never had any issues with the quality or speed of service. The main reason I love this place though, is the fact that I can 100% trust that they will take care of my needs at a fair price and never rip me off. Emile is a stand up great guy, knows what he's doing. Have a 2015 Srx caddy. It seemed my power steering just went out one day without any warning. I took it to my Cadillac dealer and they dismissed it as a faulty ECM which was on back order from manufacturer. Told me they would call me when part came in. I waited for months with no word from service mgr. Went on for 8 months driving around with no power steering. So I took it upon myself and called around to find the part I needed. I located it ,paid $375 for module w money back guarantee if it wasn't the correct part . Took it to Emile's and he installed it and had it reprogrammed for $550. Took maybe 3 days . (He had to wait for a dealer mechanic to program it) . Drive it off and it was good as new. No telling what Cadillac would have charged me , probably upwards of $2k. Fraudulent, crooked mechanic. I went to him after reading glowing reviews of his shop on a local subreddit. I have a limited knowledge of cars and Emile seemed pretty direct & up front, if not rough around the edges. I've been to him two times in the last year and a half. The first time I took my van to him, the repairs seemed a little insignificant (and quick) for what he was charging, but I took his word for what was needed and paid what he asked for. The second time I went to him, it took well over a month for him to get STARTED on my van, which he eventually diagnosed as a faulty fuel injector. I had to call him every day for about two weeks (after the initial month long wait) in order to get him to finally complete the work. He was pretty rude to me from the beginning, even yelling at me at times. Anyway, I got the van back after paying over $800 for the new fuel injector, a "bad battery" which was fairly new and he replaced without asking, and my rear shocks which very much did need replacing (and I have no complaints about). My van ran better than before, though it still acted funny from time to time. I didn't take it back to Emile because I was so fed up with how long it took him, not to mention the rude interactions, and I had no more money. After a month, I took it to another mechanic (who came highly recommended by numerous friends of mine) to diagnose what I thought might be a fuel leak from the fuel injector installation. The new mechanic inspected the car and called me back in, telling me neither fuel injector had NOT been replaced at all, only a connector. I looked at my invoice Emile provided and sure enough he charged me $370 for a new fuel injector and the labor. I called Emile immediately and he got angry at me and started yelling again saying there's no way this mechanic could prove that this was the case, it was "his word against mine". I asked him to supply the receipt for the purchase of the part, he said he would get back to me with it. He never got back to me, haven't been able to get in touch with him since. I have since called the new mechanic who once again confirmed to me with pictures that nothing had been replaced. Total fraud, makes me question all the other things he said he "repaired" on my van the first time. Before taking my van to Emile the first time, I read another review on here with a similar claim of being ripped off. I didn't pay any mind since I thought all the positive reviews outweighed the possibility of fraudulent activity, but wishing I paid more mind and got a second opinion. read more

Dishonest mechanic; brought my car with the fuel pump acting up, charged for a new pump, $100+ in "labor" to reset "the computer", and "replaced the faulty wiring to the ignition coils." When I got my car back the driver-side switch for the passenger window wasn't working. I spent weeks and $800 for him to fix wiring just for him to break some wiring. I called him about it, and he acted like he never touched any electrical wiring and he can charge me to fix later because he's "busy". He never offered used parts so he might have charged me hundreds of dollars for a few dollars of wire because he might not have even changed the fuel pump or the fuel filter; not a reputable mechanic worth $100+/hr labor. Doubt a computer reset was needed at all for $100+ read more

They have an excellent business model (unlike AAA)- "I work on cars, so let me work on cars. She knows where to find a single (as opposed to pairs of everything that's sold in the automotive industry..." I asked "you have a perfect rating on Yelp!- seems your door would at least have a single sticker on it. Her response "well they never sent one, otherwise we would". Emile is the best. Period. My daughter is a student in NOLA and she had car trouble and had it towed to Emile's. It turned out just to be a dead battery and even though he took time to diagnose the battery and alternator and verify that everything was working ok, he didn't charge anything! Emile's is the best for car repairs at a reasonable price. A friend recommended me to them and said that everyone in his family takes their car to Emile's and have never had any problems. Prior to my visit, I had a mechanic tell me that it was going to cost $900 to replace all of the parts to fix my A/C. I took it to Emile's who said that nothing needed to be replaced, I just needed freon! They charged me $72 for the freon and I left a very happy customer! The only reason why they don't get 5 stars is that I dropped my car off at 8am on a Monday and at 3pm they had not even looked at it. They were just so busy with other cars that they had to keep my car overnight before they got to it. Other than that minor annoyance, it was awesome! read more

Brought my car to Walker VW for a recall item to be repaired. Asked them to look at my AC as it would blow warm air intermittently. The said my compressor needed to be replaced along with some other item- total 1300.00. I decided to bring my car to Emile for a second opinion. Emile's has taken care of my car twice now, both times above and beyond any auto shop I've ever been to. This summer I my car was submerged in water and stopped working. Emile and his team figured out the problem, solved it quickly, and gave me an extremely fair price. The second time I went in for a "check engine" light that was on. The car ended up being fine but they said my car sounded too loud. Turns out I was running on no oil. Here we go started out a bad day. Live in Hammond and work on the Westbank. Got a call from the wife about a septic issue and headed home. Got to City Park exit and my truck just died. Don't know any auto places in NOLA. So I looked on Yelp and called them. They have a towing service they use that is quick. Got my truck there and within 5 minutes they were under the hood and diagnosing the problem. It was my alternator and there outsource parts guy was there with the part already and I was in and out in about an hour. Cost $250 and $85 for the tow. Some may say I could have gotten it cheaper but I believe not by much. Tell me another place that could have gotten to me that quick and back on the road. They were extremely friendly and knowledgeable and there dogs were very friendly. Even though I live in Hammond, I will be stopping by them again to have look at some small fixes with my truck in the future. I would recommend Emile's without hesitation. read more

What more can one say I worked in the area for years and Emiles seemed to always be there. I had a different mechanic shop I was going to for years but it seemed like the last few times every repair was costing 700 to 1000. Decided to try Emiles , the price was fair. For the same job the other shop was charging a 1000 for ,Emiles was less than half of that. Service was great and the friendly confident atmosphere was just what was needed.
