I had a $25 gift certificate that I purchased at an auction for Emilia. I stopped to in to use it to buy a hostess gift. The young woman behind the counter had limited ideas about how to maximize its presentation and I walked away with a sweet but anemic bouquet. To further challenge the situation, she refused the gift certificate until she had called her boss at home to verify that it was real - I didn't have a "valued customer" experience. I really highly recommend Emilia's. This stand has the nicest flowers in Berkeley, in my opinion. She's been wonderful about special ordering flowers for me. If the owner is there (whose name I've forgotten- sorry!) she will put together a truly stunning bouquet for you, based on your description. She put a wedding bouquet together for me, on one day's warning. She's made me a couple of gorgeous bouquets for men (very elegant, not to frou-frou or girly). Great selection, nice arrangements, kinda pricey.

Beautiful flowers but just a tad pricey. The owner was very friendly (she was helping other customers) and all the customers seem to like her a lot as they were engaging in conversation. However, the girl that helped me was nice but a bit passive aggressive to my limited knowledge of flowers. I was looking at flowers one day and I was told that they accept credit cards, then I made my purchase and was given the smart a** remark that they do have a minimum and I can go to the ATM if I have no money. Maybe I just have to get used to living in Berkeley. Are people usually this arrogant around here? read more

These ladies and their flowers are amazing!!! I live in Oakland but used to live around the corner from this amazing shop. Now, I drive 30 minutes every time the occasion recommends flowers because they have the most beautiful, unusual, and long lasting flowers In the Bay. I showed up before they opened on Valentine's Day, asking for flowers and they made me an amazing bouquet that I simply could not have gotten anywhere else. In doing so, i know I messed up their entire day, but they are so dedicated to amazing customer service that they did it anyway. Thank you ladies! Emilia did wonderful work for my daughter's wedding. She paid careful attention to detail; the bride's bouquet was stunning as was the nosegay for the mother of the bride. The groom's and usher's flowers were just what we had requested. Don't pass this florist up if you are looking for exceptional standards. The only disappointment was the wrist corsages were too loose and kept falling off so that the mother of the groom and stepmother weren't able to wear them. My daughter's graduation day was ahead, so I first called another local florist off of my google-search list. They told me that they were the actual flower source to all other florists in town, so I had pretty good expectations for the price I did not limit, the fact that I chose the exact arrangement they had posted on their page, and that I agreed they'd deliver sooner than I wanted... just to get it done with no issues! The bouquet delivered was ugly and far off what I had selected that, only the fact that it was bad enough to not have a graduation ceremony during a pandemic, and that we couldn't be there to celebrate her accomplishment, that I couldn't care less to waste any minute on anything other than making another attempt to make it up for my daughter! I got it right the second time around by finding Emilia's Flowers! The representative gets "outstanding" on communication, service, and for coming through above and beyond what any florist would do for their customer. I went into detailed questions this time, and she never sounded impatient or hesitated to give me flower options that she could make available on a last minute basis. A magnificent looking arrangement was delivered on the day of graduation (next morning) and made quite the statement! The quality and the professional creativity were also undebatable! With the COVID closures and limitations on balloons and chocolate boxes' pairing, the representative went out of her way at my request to compliment the flowers with the purchase of a bottle of champaign! I don't know that businesses with five-star ratings have to be that good, but it sure is worth noting when five is the most I can give Emilia's! The folks who work here have always been very friendly and helpful-- they arrange the flowers tastefully, wrap them up, and tie on a ribbon-- all while chatting cheerfully. The flowers I've gotten here have always seemed very fresh and have lasted well. maryam (the owner) has been running this stand for years now...and she really rocks your socks off, both in her mad floral skills and in her unbeatable wit. she can get you just about anything from the sf flower market, and her creations are always unusual and beautiful, never any baby's breath! i wouldn't get flowers anywhere else...especially not from that plastic-wrapped elephant pharmacy stand down the street...blegh! read more
