We stayed in Room 10 which features a king size bed and a large soaking tub. The bed was comfortable, clean, and the bathroom was sizable. We always felt like there was a lot of space to unwind and relax when we were in our room. We were offered the Fall menu when we were there. On day 1 I had the apple crumble French toast (AMAZING) and I'm not even a big French toast guy. Your table has fresh orange juice, water, and coffee/tea when you come down and get seated. Loved this. On day 2 I had the traditional breakfast and enjoyed it thoroughly. The staff was friendly and accommodating - as expected from a well run B&B. We were on site for a small gathering of gamer friends and so I also tried some of their offerings in the small cafe. I tried Italian wedding soup for lunch and got several hot tea drinks. All excellent. They have a small "snack room" near the main entrance that has popcorn, and water, coffee maker, and other small amenities to make your stay more enjoyable. Overall, this was one of the most visitor-focused B&B we've had the pleasure of staying in. It sounds obvious to say that, but it his place really puts your money to work to make you enjoy your stay. Thank you!

The suite was spotless and beautifully furnished and had a very comfortable king-size bed. We received a gracious and warm welcome from the host when we arrived. First, let me start from the outside going in. The street that the Inn is located is so quaint and charming, we weren't even inside yet, and I knew it was going to be wonderful. Diane and Chris were fantastic hosts, gave us tips on where to eat and things to do. The Inn has a fireplace in the common area along with coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Our suite was a great size, and I was very impressed with how clean it was. The mattress was very comfortable, and so was the couch in the sitting room. The in room breakfast was perfect! Stocked juices in the mini fridge, fresh yogurt with honey and berries, and ready on our table were granola, fruits, scones, muffins, biscotti and the most delicious cakes. We did not get into our car at all as everything was less than a 10 min walk away. We did the train ride, a show at the opera house, Big Creek tasting room, Myst, Molly Maguires, and shopping. When we come back to Jim Thorpe, and we will be back, Times House will be our place to stay! I'm already trying to arrange a friends trip for next fall!

We didn't have to hunt for parking, as they have designated spots for the bed and breakfast. Chris (one of the innkeepers) greeted us after we parked to offer assistance with luggage and show us to our room. We were staying in Serenity which was located on the third floor. The room was beautifully decorated and meticulously clean. A small table was already set with dishes for breakfast the next morning. Fresh baked goods, courtesy of Diane (the other innkeeper), as well as fresh fruit, homemade granola, and a refrigerator stocked with orange juice, apples juice, bottled water, creamers for coffee and yogurt were all provided for us to enjoy for breakfast at our convenience. Down in the main parlor there was also a side table set up with coffee, tea and hot cocoa. When housekeeping visited our room the next afternoon, everything was tidied up and the items we consumed were replenished. The room had a television with streaming ability. The location of Times House was perfect and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. We did not have to visit our car again until our departure. My husband and I have already recommended Times House to several friends and plan to visit here again ourselves.

They have brochures out, mints by the door, a heated towel rack! There were so many food options left for me - tea, snacks, oatmeal, bagels, juice ... Due to the pandemic, I had planned to take breakfast up to my room and eat privately, since my room had a little table, chairs, microwave, and mini-fridge. This wasn't necessary since there were no other guests, but could be a good option for others traveling during this pandemic. Matt was very helpful even from afar. He explained how to use the tv and provided advice on hikes. He was very responsive to texts and phone calls, and it was not an issue at all that he wasn't there.

It was our first time at a B&B and we didn't know what to expect. Nancy and Tom were the ultimate hosts, giving us good advice for tourist attractions, parking and options for restaurants for dinner. The breakfasts were delicious and the choices were more than sufficient! I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a wonderful tourist weekend. Conveniently close to town and couldn't ask for nicer people.

Communication with the owners was uncomplicated and straight forward. I wanted to book one or 2 nights, to celebrate my 1 year anniversary with my fiance. The owners worked with us, and we were booked for 2 nights (Saturday/Sunday nights) in the Gold room. Check in was easy...We were asked to tell what time we wanted breakfast (between 8 and 10am), confirmed our credit card used to book the reservation, and were taken upstairs. The building is gorgeous..built in 1865, and decorated tastefully with period appropriate decorations and carefully chosen accents, avoiding the tendency of some B&Bs to become a huge collection of clutter. The staircase is a gorgeous spiral/curved stair, and up the center of the staircase is an antique elevator, added in the 1930s. Our luggage went on the elevator, and we were shown into the Gold room. The gold room has a tall 4 poster Queen size bed, an adorable fireplace with electric fake insert that makes real crackling noise, and a bathroom with single stand-up shower. The pass-through between bathroom and bedroom has a small fridge with complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, and small coffee pot. The room is equipped with glasses for wine, coffee, tea, and other typical amenities. We enjoyed our stay in the Gold room. A table in the gold room allowed for a quiet spot to play board games later that evening, and the "crackling fire" was a surprising hit for both of us. (We may buy one for ourselves now.) The downside of the gold room for me is the stand up shower. It is small, and all tile, which made me feel a bit claustrophobic. This is not a deal breaker, in an otherwise excellent and relatively affordable ($145 listed price for a Saturday night, as of Feb. 2018) bed and breakfast option. Breakfast the next morning was excellent. The table was set with a gorgeous peacock patterned china that I'm now in love with, (Sadly I think they will notice if I steal some...guess I'll need to search online...) We started with an apple and oat muffin, served hot. Gordon (one of the owners) provided us with beverages, while Cecilia (the co-owner and chef) prepared breakfast. We were given a fresh fruit bowl. The pineapple was perfectly sweet. Our main breakfast food was Eggs Benedict on croissants. I find this to be slightly surprising as a dish served to guests without letting them know ahead of time, as some people can not stomach undercooked/poached eggs. My fiance is one of those who doesn't like eggs "runny"...but he cleaned his plate, to my surprise. The Hollandaise sauce was thick and creamy and unbroken, the asparagus spears topping the dish were cooked perfectly, and still had a bit of bite to them. Crispy slices of croissant were great to dunk in egg yolk, and the ham slice in between added the salt the dish needed. I was fully satisfied with the breakfast, at this bed and breakfast. We went out for the day Sunday to visit family. I checked with the owners before we left to see if we could switch our room from the Gold room to the Dutchess Suite for Sunday night, knowing that the couple staying in the Suite had checked out. For an acceptable upcharge, we were able to move to the Suite for Sunday night. The Suite is gorgeous, and if I could do another getaway weekend here at the Inn, I'd book the Suite. It has multiple rooms, a well appointed kitchenette closet (silverware, dishes, fridge, coffee/tea pot, microwave, sink), a parlor for watching TV or playing games, and another 4 poster bed, this one lower to the ground than the Gold Room. An unexpected bonus for us is a plug-in fan found in the kitchenette closet. My fiance needs white noise to sleep, and this was awesome. The bathroom is what makes this Suite the best, for me. It has a larger standing corner shower, and a sunken whirlpool tub. I think I soaked in the tub for over an hour, until I could have floated out. The only downside to the Dutchess Suite that I noticed, was the bed. It is an old 4 poster bed, positioned on a gorgeous wood floor, and even with protective coasters under the feet of the bed, the bed squeaks anytime you roll over or move. This made for a disruptive night of sleep, as we are each restless sleepers. I'm not sure this is something that can really be fixed, and isn't a fault of the owners, it is just a downside for us. This morning I got up and made myself a pot of tea, and I've enjoyed typing this review on the free (and fast!) wifi, while relaxing in the beautiful parlor. I don't know what our last breakfast is going to be, here, but I'm on my way downstairs to find out. 5 stars, Hillard House. We'll be back...this place is a great find, and an accent to Wilkes-Barre's beautiful small town feel.

When pressed for when we were going to be arriving, we advised that I was just getting out of the hospital from a minor heart attack and we were unsure when I was being released but once we knew, we would advise. Without any further discussion, the owner cancelled our reservation as they aren't ADA compliant and she assumed that I couldn't go up stairs. It was minor and I had no limitations upon being discharged. We chose the location due to being walking distance to the Kirby Center and ended up driving an hour and a half home after the concert as there were no rooms within walking distance to the venue for New Years Eve. I reached out again this year prior to making reservations for the 30th to make sure that we wouldn't have our reservation canceled again. There was no apology, no admitting that maybe she should have called us prior to up and canceling our reservation so we won't be staying there this year either. Beware and have a back up plan in case they just up and cancel your reservation and leave you hanging.
