They were right. The coffee was incredible, the food was perfection, and the staff were unbelievably kind and welcoming. Everything tasted so fresh and flavorful. It honestly felt like it had been grown in someone's backyard garden. I had the tuna salad with seven-minute eggs (amazing), and my son got the breakfast sandwich... which my husband claimed he didn't want until he took one bite and immediately wanted to come back before we flew home. On our second visit, they had sold out of the brioche bun for the sandwich and we were so disappointed but one of the staff members (owner, manager, or actual angel) overheard me talking to my husband and offered to make it on different bread. They went completely above and beyond, and the sandwich was still unbelievable. Amazing food, amazing coffee, and customer service that truly made us feel cared for. I've been dying to try Emissary's mango sticky rice matcha since I first heard about it, and let me just say, wow! Because parking around Coconut Grove can be tricky (especially on weekends), it took me a couple drive by's to finally make it in, but it was so worth the wait. The matcha itself is one of the most balanced flavor-specific matchas I've found in Miami. So many places make unique matchas with syrups that tend to edge on being far too sweet, but Emissary gets it just right. The mango sticky rice notes shine without being sugary. It's incredibly delicious and has quickly become a constant craving for me. The ambience here is also a huge plus. The space is welcoming and has an inviting, community feel. Definitely elevated, but never snobby. The staff are always so sweet and genuinely kind, making every visit enjoyable. It is also a great pick to work from your computer if you're able to catch a seat at the bar, or anywhere else during laptop acceptable hours. I really enjoy my visits to this café. They have really nice coffee and the food is excellent. I love the avocado toast and the pastries from Flour and Weirdoughs are unmatched. With that said, I was slightly unprepared for their no laptop rule from 8am-2pm because I arrived hoping to catch up on emails and get a little bit of work done. Very cute coffee counter in the Grove! I love this concept! I love how light and airy it is in there. Perfect place to post up and get some work done and enjoy some coffee! I ordered an iced latte with pistachio milk! it was delicious high quality coffee. It came in a glass with a lot of ice, which kept the coffee nice and cold! For food i tried an item that debuted the day i was there, i cant find it on the menu now but I believe it was called le jiffy! It was a veggie sandwich and the ingredients tasted SO fresh. The ciabatta had such a nice flavor and the tomatoes, avocados, and arugula were dressed with EVOO and the perfect amount of salt and pepper. I've heard great things of this new spot in the Grove so wanted to check it out for breakfast. On their menu online they have certain items until 12pm and others afterward so made it before 12 to try items on both menus. As I entered, I was not really greeted and the barista that took my order wasn't the friendliest so I tried for that not to ruin my experience. I ordered an iced latte along with the egg and cheese brioche breakfast sandwich and the egg scramble and toast. It was a busy weekend so I was lucky to find one spot to sit. The decor is really nice and modern yet minimalist. I received my coffee and it was delicious. They use counter culture coffee, which has great espresso. It took about 35 minutes to receive the food and it was given to me in to-go containers. I guess the barista thought I wanted the food to go? We unpacked the food and ate it there. The manager was really kind and apologetic for the delay. He gave us a chocolate chip cookie to try and another coffee. The breakfast was truly delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked and great flavor. The brioche was soft and pillowy. The toast was crunchy and flavorful. Their butter and jam was also a really nice touch. The cookie was also really good. They use Flour & Weirdough pastries and bread and it's definitely great quality. Would definitely return to this spot and try some additional food and drink items. But I was a pleasantly surprise on my way to a different place this morning when I saw Emissary (it's in the back parts of the Grove and has a small entrance so I almost missed it). Beautiful decor and filled with light, they have a nice diner bar you can sit at, or, if you're lucky, you can try to snag a seat at one of their tables. It's about time! I was finally able to make it to Emissary for a brunch meeting and it did not disappoint. Starting off w the matcha latte, what's not to love the frothy heart design. Best part it is the matcha is sugar free. I ordered the eggs w avocado and substituted for the trending Domaselo protein bread. The quality of ingredients is seriously authentically good! Visible by the color of the eggs and the maldon salt generously sprinkled over the eggs and avocado. Olive oil quality was also amazingly tasty. And ofcourse, being in the Grove the aesthetic and vibe is chic and cool perfectly blended with its surroundings. The owner was there and he was super nice too! I am always looking to try new coffee places and Emissary had popped up on my search a lot so I decided to give them a try for a solo date. I came on a weekday at around 11 AM and found that they were super packed. Seeing how full they were gave a good feeling. I ordered a iced matcha latte and their egg breakfast sandwich. The coffee shop has very serious bar vibes. I could easily see them serving drinks in the evening. I sat outside as they have some tables inside and outside. My food and drink were brought to my table quickly. The service was solid. The matcha was good. My breakfast sandwich looked amazing but fell flat in the taste department. It was very bland and did not really satisfy me. I will say though that the eggs were some of the fluffiest eggs I had ever tasted or seen in my life. I'm honestly confused by some of the low reviews. I live in the Grove and come here 2-3 times a week. No other local coffee shop compares. The vibe strikes the perfect balance--calm and peaceful, yet still lively. The coffee drinks are consistently excellent (I always get a cortado), and the food is fresh, simple, and delicious.
