I had a great experience at Macondo Coffee Roasters and would definitely come back. I ordered the tuna sandwich and substituted the spring mix for arugula. It was absolutely delicious! The portion was surprisingly large, so I ended up eating half and taking the rest home. I also tried the beef plantain empanada, and honestly, you can't go wrong with that combination. The sweet plantain paired perfectly with the savory beef, creating the ideal balance of sweet and salty flavors. My boyfriend ordered the cheese arepa. It was good, but nothing out of this world compared to everything else we tried. For drinks, I had their cold brew made with 100% Colombian coffee. It was incredibly refreshing, and adding two pumps of pistachio syrup took it to another level. My boyfriend ordered the caramel frappe and really enjoyed it as well. One thing I loved was the atmosphere. The decor has a very Colombian feel, which gives the space a lot of character. There's plenty of seating, making it a great spot to study, work, or just hang out for a while. Overall, great food, great coffee, and a welcoming environment. Love love love this place. This was my second time coming here- just for coffee this time. I got the same drink as the first time, cold brew with strawberry white chocolate cold foam (not always on the menu but they seem to always have it) & my friend got the Bahama cold brew, this was different because they blend the cold brew with banana and coconut syrup. You can tell the coconut syrup is real & not a synthetic flavor. If you are used to the fake flavor this tastes a lot different and you might not like it. The staff here are very nice & I love how you can see the beans getting roasted. The roaster stands right next to the machine while they are cooking! This morning, I met my Son By Law for a late breakfast early lunch catch up. This place is very well set up and luckily we were there after the morning rush and before lunch. The food that we had was fresh and delicious. The young lady that took our order. Francielis was very nice. There was another young lady that brought us our order, she also facilitated and brought us condiments. I have been to Macondo a few times now. I really enjoy the ambiance and the food is good. Today was no different, food was delicious, the atmosphere is laid back and the decor is so cozy!! What was different this time was the service. Initially, the girl who took our order was sweet and she put all our orders on the same numbers which was great since we all ordered separately. We had a wonderful meal and then as we finished, a waitress came and told us to leave so that others could sit. While we had been there a while , I think it was rude to ask us to leave. This isn't a place where tables have servers and us staying takes away tip from a server . If the goal is to set a welcoming atmosphere, this is not the way. I love how the decorations make me feel like I am in Colombia! The staff were friendly and welcoming! The coffee I ordered was great. I started with the moccacino. I had never tried this before and I loved it. We also had the corn casserole. My boyfriend had wanted the berry blues iced latte but they didn't have. So he ordered the pumpkin spice iced latte and he was not a fan of the taste. It did not have any sort of pumpkin spice flavor to it. It was pretty busy for a Sunday morning. So bummed I discovered this spot on the last day of our trip. As I was leaving my hotel, I asked the concierge what the best local bakery/cafe. He initially said somewhere that sounded like a chain restaurant then he remembered Macondo. We stopped in Monday late morning for and Iced Matcha and Empanadas. We asked the Emmanuel which were his favorites and he said Ham & Cheese, so we got one of those and a Beef. My drink was solid, I got it with almond milk. Perfect creamy and earthy balance. Kinda wish I got a larger size. Luckily I bit into the empanadas while parked outside. We got a Chicken on by mistake, so I limped back in. The cashier apologized and got the correct one fired up. I offered to pay since but she declined since it was their mistake. Talk about good customer service and tasty error. It was packed with what looked liked regulars and tourists. Food, ambience, and service were great...Until they weren't. We were a table of six ladies who have frequented this location. We all ordered full plates + drinks and paid more than adequate tip. The plates came at different times, which was fine and expected. All the food was delicious as usual. Loved the food, tipped well, had a nice time. Then I got the receipt. There's a "tourist tax" on there that I never saw mentioned anywhere. Not on the menu, not at the table, not when I ordered. Just quietly sitting on the receipt after I'd already paid and already tipped and keep in mind, I also ordered food to go on top of everything else. So I was already spending good money here. Then I look at the receipt properly, and there it is. And look , it's not about the money. I can afford it. It just feels gross to find out you've been charged something extra that was never mentioned, after the fact, when there's nothing you can do about it. That's not an accident. That's how it's designed. If you're proud of the fee, put it on the menu. Simple as that. The fact that it only shows up at the very end, after you've eaten and tipped and ordered takeout and let your guard down that says a lot about why it's not shown earlier. Good food though. Staff were excellent, they offered recommendations for first timers, and even helped with cleaning a mess that wasn't theirs (accident outside the cafe). I had the veggie sandwich, didn't know what to expect, but it was large, hot and crispy. Also very good. The mocha shake was excellent, I almost got a 2nd shake. Overpriced coffee. We ordered and they asked if wr wanted a paper cup or a mug. I didnt know there was a difference in price! They charge you for using a mug that they keep anyways? Makes no sense. Delicious little cafe in Doral. The coffee was amazing and I believe they roast it themselves. The restaurant is very nostalgic of Colombia and makes you feel like you're there. I wanted to go the traditional route so I got the campesina casserole and it was delicious! Perfect mix of eggs, maduros, and chorizo. It lives up to the ratings and hype! I'd go back... Food: Delicious food and coffee! Had the Açaí bowl and two empanadas. The granola in the bowl was a little basic and bland. Service: Everyone was so friendly! From the lady working the register to the servers bringing the coffee. I met there for a 1on 1 business review for work, and my only complaint would be is that I wish there were more power outlets to charge my laptop. Walking in it's very welcoming, we went on a very busy Sunday early afternoon for some brunch. I'm plant-based and was happy to see they had Vegan Pancakes on the menu and avocado toast. I was disappointed with both items. The pancakes were extremely thin and dry, super overpriced for what you get. The avocado toast wasn't appetizing, the bread wasn't toasted and chewy, it's more like a guacamole spread thin layer on the bread topped with pickled onions that tasted rancid with a drizzle of balsamic glaze on the plate for decoration not on the actual toast. The latte wasn't any better tasted more like oat milk than actual coffee and I had to get up to get my own sugar bc they didn't bring any with the coffee and when asked for it they never brought it. It was a full house and I get it that available sitting means money for the business but they were literally asking you to leave as soon as you finished your meal. They do roast their own coffee and that was very nice to see the progress as it's part of the sitting area. Overall I will not be returning. read more

Came here for breakfast with my bf and daughter. We were a little confused upon walking in as you order first at the counter and then go find a seat. But we figured it out relatively quickly. My daughter had a mocha cappuccino iced and she said it was good. My boyfriend had a cappuccino and he enjoyed it. I had a regular American coffee and they give you warm creamer, so that is nice. The coffee tasted good, but it wasn't anything out of the world which I was expecting from the reviews. I had the fabio's favorite and it was quite tasty, a little dry, but really good. My daughter had an Arepa as well as an empanada and she said both were really good. My boyfriend had an oatmeal iron man , he said everything tasted great. We all shared the guava and coconut cake, which I thought was a little dry, but had a great flavor. The service was great and everyone was really nice and the place was super cute. They were supposed to close at 4, so I don't understand why they couldn't just wait the 30 minutes. There were plenty of people inside. The person that greeted me asked if I was coming by for a drink and I said yes, and he said "that's too bad." Why even ask. Visited Macondo (Doral) on a Sunday, and it was a great experience (it's at the corner of a mid-size shopping center, and there was plenty of available parking on the Sunday (June 23, 2024) that I went). This place is a mix between a cafe, a restaurant, and a modern cafeteria. As soon as you walk in, you'll see a giant chalkboard menu to the right, well-designed for easy viewing while waiting to order. Once you place your order, you'll receive a number to take to any available table. The food was fantastic! Fresh, flavorful, and just right. * El Gringo wrap was amazing, especially with picante sauce (my husband's favorite). * The guava croissant cookie was a pleasant surprise, warm and fresh. (I personally enjoy sweet guava desserts, so if you not into guava this may not be your thing, but I always recommend trying everything once--you never know). * Dulce de leche pancakes were delicious, not too sweet or heavy. *The avocado toast was fresh and tasty. * I had a cappuccino with almond milk (no sugar), which was awesome. *My husband ordered an iced matcha with almond milk, and it was excellent, smooth without the usual matcha aftertaste. * We also had freshly squeezed orange juice, which was naturally fresh and not overly sweet. This location is big but in the back, people sit back there to work which limits where you can sit. This place was loud because people come here to drink their coffee to chat and relax. While we were in line, I didn't know it was self seated. I wanted a table by the window but someone took the seat. I sat in the back with folks who were working but it was uncomfortable due to the size of the table . Once a family left the table by the window, I left to grab the seat so I can have more space. I'm very happy I did that. The iron man meal was great. The mini sausages weren't your normal sausages and it was something different to eat. The pancakes weren't good in my opinion. The pancakes tasted like the pancakes you take from your freezer to reheat. I was not a fan of it. The vanilla cappuccino was cute. It had a design. I never had a coffee that came with a design. Hmmm....where do I start? From the outside, Macondo seemed like another hole-in -the-wall on the corner of a small shopping strip surrounded by warehouses with 16-wheeler trucks buzzing by. However, when I opened the door to the place, the intoxicating aroma of freshly brewed coffee made me forget the outside world and all my worries, ahhhhh....and the ambiance was chill with some people busily working on their laptops. The wood decor gave the place a warm fuzzy feel. The order counter was directly facing the entrance door and the menu is high up on the right on a huge blackboard neatly written in by hand. There were all kinds of delicious dishes including an assortment of vegan meals. I placed my order at the counter, paid, and was given an order number on a stick and instructed to place it on the table of my choice. Soon thereafter, the food was brought to my table. The hot mocha and my husband's cappuccino was deliciously flavorful. The food seasoning made my heart sing. The servers were courteous and responsive. Lovely place to visit at least once. I discovered Macondo a little over 2 years ago and have been coming back ever since. This is one of the best coffee shops in Miami hands down. Great service, delicious and a variety of foods and amazing quality coffee. The ambiance is very welcoming (at least Doral location). A great place to get breakfast / coffee with friends. On my most recent visit I tried the avocado toast: absolutely delicious. The empanadas were OK as well, would have liked a little more flavor or salt in both. Additionally, there is now a $1 takeout fee which I don't understand. Although just $1, it seems unnecessary. read more
