Toward the end of our meal, another family came in with a young child who was clearly upset and crying. They were seated behind us, and honestly, it did not bother me at all. What was upsetting was seeing the waitress approach the family and tell them that their child was a problem and that they needed to take him outside so they would not disturb other customers. This happened around 2:15pm so it was almost closing time and the restaurant was no longer very busy. The interaction came across as unnecessarily rude and lacking compassion. The family ended up leaving before even ordering because of the way they were spoken to. I later spoke with the other mother because I could hear how upset and embarrassed she felt after the interaction. It was heartbreaking to watch a mother, on Mother's Day, simply trying to enjoy a meal with her family, be treated that way. I understand restaurants want guests to have a pleasant experience, but kindness and understanding should always come first, especially when it comes to families with young children.
