Then, out of the blue, he told me I needed lots of work done, that it wasn't covered by my insurance, and that it had to get done immediately. That's when I started my search for another dentist - someone ethical, knowledgeable, and honest. I found Dr. Bongiorno. From the moment I stepped in the office, I felt comfortable. The administrative staff are all friendly and accommodating. They even told me where to get change for the meter! Ms. Bee was super sweet while doing my cleaning, and Dr. Bongiorno took the time to educate me on dental health and overall wellness. He thoroughly explained what was going on with my teeth and laid out all of my options. During the whole process, I never felt pressure or like I was being talked down to. Plus, during each procedure I have the option of choosing the background music. I ended up getting all of my work done for about 4% of what the other dentist wanted to charge me. I've been a patient for about a month now and have referred several friends and family - even though we all live in Brooklyn! Everyone who's made an appointment with GoodDay Dental has raved about how personable and smart the staff are. Who would've thought? I know my dental history, and I know the difference between needing routine care and being pushed toward treatment that does not match my actual condition. I even referred my coworkers to this office because I believed in the care I had received in the past. When one coworker mentioned that she also did not feel she received a proper cleaning, I chose to give this office the benefit of the doubt because I had never personally experienced an issue before. Unfortunately, after today's appointment, I can no longer say the same. I contacted the office immediately to explain my concerns. Not only was my issue not resolved, but I did not receive a call back, an apology, or even an offer to bring me back in and correct the problem. They're dishonest and look for things you don't have in order to charge you exorbitant prices. I came here to get my teeth treated. The dentist seemed hesitant in his diagnosis, and the hygienist was even worse. I don't have the best teeth, but I do maintain good daily hygiene. The hygienist recommended a deep cleaning because I had tartar and plaque. The cleaning cost $795. Then the supposed budget coordinator arrived, and the treatment for my teeth would cost $12,185. At another place in the same area, the treatment would have cost me $5,533. Even so, I paid half the cleaning, $395, to start, and they only cleaned half of my mouth, on the right side, both upper and lower. During the week, I got two second opinions from other dentists and called dental insurance companies and plans. The result: I have no plaque, no tartar, and a cleaning wasn't necessary right now. I had a broken tooth, and these dishonest people at Gentle Dental wanted to put a crown on me for $3,050. The other two dentists recommended the following: you have 70% of your tooth still good; it's best to preserve it by getting a filling that, with care, will last and keep part of your natural tooth.
