The owner is horrible, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I was told a price of $65 from a rep from their office and it took them an extra day to get out there than scheduled (I had to find out when they were coming out). I called the owner to follow up with the price, the owner yelled at me over the phone and was irate. I will do business with someone so unprofessional again. Dennis just finished fixing my VERY old furnace. And by VERY old, I mean this thing used to burn coal!!! It was converted into a gas heater like 60 years ago. I called Emmi around 3:30PM and (hesitantly) left a voicemail. I don't like leaving voicemails because it seems unprofessional, but thank god I did. After calling 5 other companies (after Emmi) from Yelp in my area that all either said "we don't service that type of furnace" or "we can get you in next week", I started thinking about going out and buying a space heater just to get through the night. Then my phone rang at 4:40PM and it was Dennis. He said "I just got back to the office and can be there in 20 minutes". 20 minutes later he pulled up and by 5:30PM the heat was on! He even had a VERY old / hard to find part that turns off the gas line if the pilot light goes out. The old part I had was defective and the gas kept running when it went out at around 3:00PM. My wife and I smelled gas and I had to run downstairs to manually turn it off. It's currently 8 degrees outside... if he hadn't helped us, we would've been SCREWED! During a heat wave I realized that my air conditioning condenser wasn't working. I decided to call Emmi Heating and cooling since it's located in my city. Initially the man who answered the phone seemed really friendly and accommodating. He said he would be out to my house between 3 and 4. At 4 he still had not showed up. I called him several times and left a voicemail. Nothing. 5 o'clock....Still nothing. Very unreliable and never had the decency to admit mistake or even return my call. Mr. Emmi is my neighbor and did our furnace and duct work installation and central air. No complaints. Did a beautiful job on the duct work to give us more ceiling height. He gave us a great deal on our ac. Any time we need him he's always quick to get back to us or stop by to check it out. read more

UPDATE: stay away from this business. I had to stop having Emmi do work on my house after an unprofessional interaction. Things just kept going wrong after that, and I've brought in a new heat company who took one look at the boiler and steam pipes and couldn't believe someone set them up as they were. There have been multiple steam leaks, clanking, and the radiator chosen for the living room is nowhere near large enough and will have to be replaced. Emmi took thousands of dollars to do work that will have to be substantially redone because of its poor quality. read more

When our furnace went out at our rental, during my first winter in Michigan (that means it was an emergency to me), our landlord called Emmi Heating & Cooling. Dennis Emmi and a guy he was training, were out pretty much within the hour and inspected, cleaned and fixed the furnace. Since the service call and repair was on my landlord's dime, I do not know how much he was charged, but he was there for over an hour. When we bought our house (around the corner from the rental), I called Dennis to come out and inspect my furnace. The service charge was $85.00 and my furnace was given an A. Since then, Emmi has done a yearly inspection of the furnace every fall. In November, the furnace went out. Emmi came out , thought it was a fuse, replaced it and the furnace worked. Two days later, the furnace stopped working again. Emmi came out, pretty quickly after i called and spent some time trouble shooting. After replacing a couple of parts that allowed the furnace to work for a minute or two, the furnace was still not fixed. Turns out it was my thermostat wire - somehow it was shorting out the furnace. When Emmi replaced the wire, we discovered it was so old that the insulation (?) was turning to powder when we touched it. But, with the new wire, furnace works like a dream. Took him most of the afternoon. Cost was $170.00 for parts and labor. We will be having Emmi come out and install central air this spring, and he will be my go to guy for furnace inspections, and the like. Very professional, yet friendly. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! He had Emmi come out to fix our A/C on Tuesday 8/2/16. They said they would be there in the morning, and didn't show until around 4 pm. They seemed to fix the A/C, but less than a day later it was out again. I called them back and they said they would be over the next morning. They did not show up in the morning and did not answer the phone or return any of the two voice mails we left. They should up around 4:30 pm without calling ahead of time. They charged us for another service call ($85) and labor to replace a part that took them maybe 15 min for a problem they didn't catch less than 24 hours before. Also, the guy in charge (I'm assuming Dennis) did not talk to us at all. His assistant that honestly didn't seem to know what he was talking about did all the talking. FYI they only take cash or check, which they did not disclose before giving us the bill. The lack of customer service and quality work was a major disappointment. DO NOT CALL THESE GUYS. I would rather spent a little extra money on someone else to have the job done right the first time. read more

Grossly overcharged for air conditioner parts and materials when only my wife was home. Charged $90/capacitor, $120/contactor, and $42/lb freon. These should cost around $20/capacitor, $30/contactor, and $15/lb Freon. My total bill was $550 for an AC tuneup. I would have expected $300. read more

Horribly over priced!!! They charged an $85 service call, then on too of that, they charge for labor by the half hour. What is a "service call" if not to have them come out and labor to service my unit? They charged me $241.00 to fix what was a short in the wiring from my thermostat to the blower. He fixed it by moving the wire a few millimeters with a screwdriver. It took him an hour maybe, and in the process of tracing the problem, maybe blew a couple fuses. How an hour long service call escalated into $241 when there were essentially no parts is a mystery to me!!! To make matters worse, they went to a rental property and did a spring tune up on the AC there, the $85 service call came to $170 after a half hour of their labor and adding some freon. Granted, I would expect to have to pay for the freon, but labor charges on top of a half hour, easy service call? I will NEVER call this company again. Don't use them. They are criminals and I hope they go out of business!!! read more

I had damage from the big storm that flooded our basement. I understand every plumber, electrician and every service person was slammed during this time. I called Emmi because they were located about two blocks from my house. They came out as soon as they could, they kept me informed they were running late which I totally understood because everyone was swamped because of the flood. They came at 6:00pm and stayed until 8:30pm after being on call since 8:00am that day. They replaced my electrical board on my furnace, cleaned it all out. They tried to fix my water tank, cleaned it and dried it out. It still wouldn't work. They came out the next day first thing in the morning with the rest of the parts they needed and replaced the valve on my hot water heater and they also hooked up my sump pump. On the second day, Mr. Dennis Emmi came with Mr. Treyvon just to double check everything. Literally, the nicest, most genuine service people I've ever used and I've used dozens. They charged me $300 for everything. I couldn't believe it. I even offered them more money and they wouldn't take it. I will forever use Emmi Heating and Cooling. Dennis and his crew installed our new duct work, and installed our high efficiency furnace. I can't believe how prompt the service was! They were able to make it to our home within half an hour for an estimate! Not many places can do that, especially in November. He made it easy to work with us, and our work schedules. They arrived right on time on Monday morning, and they were completely done by 2:30! I couldn't believe the skill and efficiency among Dennis and his crew. They were friendly and polite, although I did my best to keep out of their hair. I did the worst thing a homeowner can do, which is ask for a service that wasn't initially discussed (I needed new venting for my hot water heater) and I was quoted an extremely reasonable price and it was completed that same day. His crew really helped me with an otherwise very overwhelming project. I would recommend this company to anyone. There was no upselling, no pressuring of any kind. This company is a joke. If you need boilers fixed, stay as far away from these guys as possible. They were supposed to have fixed a boiler line that was leaking and this is the third time I have had to call them to fix it properly. Worst of all they keep pushing their arrival time back days. They claim they are coming but then call later and say they have an emergency and can't make it out until the next day, or Saturday, which costs more money. Since no one was home then, instead of calling to check what was up, they just left. They also seemed pretty hesitant to even take the job with my homeowners warranty paying, rather than me hanging them a check on-site (but that's minor compared to not even calling when they found no client on-site). read more

Our furnace went out overnight on one of the coldest nights of the year and we tried contacting a 24 hr emergency service with no luck. First thing in the morning, I called a couple of places in the area for service and asked the first business to respond to check out my furnace. Between the callbacks from the offices and the callbacks from the technicians, I accidentally booked two companies. Emmi Heating and Cooling was the second to arrive. When the I answered the door, I explained to the technician what had happened and apologized. He seemed to get bit annoyed at the situation (understandable). What happened next is what was so puzzling. He told me that he should charge me for the mistake and then proceeded to go on a profanity laced tirade which concluded when he threatened to punch me in my face. I never swore at the man and offered an apology at least 4 times. This whole situation was witnessed by the technician who was already on site and two other Emmi Heating and Cooling employees who were waiting outside. Unbelievable experience. I would never use or recommend this company and am surprised they have managed to stay in business. read more
