Requested a quote on April 26th and was offered a free estimate by one person. I followed up two weeks later to book it and a different person responded that they could not honor the estimate request for free for the same service. The person also let me know if I don't know what I need they can't help me. Not sure how I would know if my system needs to be repaired or replaced. Isn't that your job and the point of a quote? The company is price gouging due to inflation and taking advantage that the weather is warm and people need air conditioning services. read more

Last week, I reluctantly followed through on an appointment that I made with Hearthside Heating that I had to be coaxed into keeping . When I bought my circa 1937 house with it's sunroom addition that hails from the 1960s , lt does have the original wall furnace in place . It never worked and I had a handyman type take a look at it who informed me that he was scared to even touch it . So based upon that response and knowing that the unit itself had to be close to 60 years old , I really had prepared myself for the fact I was going to need a new heater in that room and I was beginning to question whether it made good sense to pay the $70 service call fee for Hearthside to come and pronounce the death sentence that I was sure my heater was going to receive . After much internal debate , I finally decided the $70 would be money spent well so that I know once and for all that this ancient heating apparatus could not be saved . So having said that , you absolutely cannot imagine my shock when Hearthside sent their very competent service tech , Joe, to my home and he was able to revive it . And not only did he revive it , but he did so after a thorough inspection and then declaring that it didn't even need new parts ! Someone had turned the gas line off and the pilot light had been extinguished and once Joe corrected both of those issues , we were back in business . Not only did it come back to life , but this Antiquated heater has the nerve to actually work very well . That room gets positively toasty now . So after that, I became hooked and I only want hearthside to come and attend to my heating needs and I have to have Joe ! My strong suggestion is that anyone who may have a questionable heating issue to contact Hearthside . Because they really are fantastic. Replacing a small home boiler is not rocket science but the application needs to be correct. I had some quotes that either made a quick judgement without walking the house, wanted to talk about his family, about the economy, or just a quick look aroud then a quote. This guy came in, saw what we had, measured the house, sized up al the radiators, then gave advice for type, btu, and brand. They were a bit more than half the price of others with a good warranty and historically good brand. Buyer beware others want to quote 20% for boiler and 80% labor. They were in and out in one day. Inspector took 5 minutes to approve. Highly recommend. read more

Greedy and dishonest are the words I would use to characterize this firm. I asked how much for an estimate on a plumping issue, they said $70. They sent the guy out the next day, he spent 5 minutes looking over the situation and told me it would be $450 to fix. He recapped and this time quoted the price around $550. He kept talking and recapping and every time the price passed his lips it was a couple hundred dollars higher. Once he got up to $900 for the exact same repair he started at $450, I stopped him. He said I wouldn't do better anywhere else because the part was $435. I had already found the part on Amazon new with free shipping for $85. I told him no thanks and he charged me $45 for the 5 minute chat on top of the $70 estimate fee. I told him the lady on the phone said it was $70 for an estimate. He said "yeah, $70 for me to drive out here and $45 for a half hour of my time!" He was not there for a half hour, and the woman on the phone never said anything about an hourly fee on top of the $70. If she had, I would never have scheduled. I don't know who you SHOULD call for your plumbing needs but I know who you should NOT call. Good luck. read more

Our A/C stopped working immediately following a 4 day power outage. I figured I'd give Hearthside Heating a try since they had good reviews. I was expecting to hear that it would be weeks or a month before an available appointment, but they were able to come out the same day (about an hour or so after my call). Joe was very good, identified the problem, checked a few other things to hopefully head off any other issues that may have been the cause, and then fixed the A\C unit. Prices were reasonable. I was very impressed and will gladly call Hearthside Heating again with any other future issues I have with my furnace or A/C unit. read more

Called Hearthside for maintenance check on air and heat. Appointment scheduled easily, same week, 8:00 am which was great! Joe was prompt, professional and pleasant. He explained what was needed, told me what it would cost, asked if I'd like him to go ahead, was quick, asked if I had any questions, took payment and was out the door! Best service call I've ever had! Originally called company that installed furnace but couldn't get early appointment and they were kinda rude when I had to cancel and reschedule. I said I needed to cancel my appointment and before I could say I'd like to reschedule, they hung up. I'll be calling Hearthside again for next maintenance and any other air/heating issues. Compared quotes from various HVAC companies through Yelp and Hearthside's was both competitive and honest. Used them to recharge the refrigerant in my AC. The tech had to come out a second time because the AC pipes were still frozen the first time around and the receptionists on the phone did not mention that we needed to run the fan only for several hours before the visit. Nonetheless, Hearthside was able to fit us in for another appointment the following day. The total price was exactly in line with the quote received (no surprises!). Very happy with the service and covid precautions (e.g., tech wore mask and distanced within reason the entire time). read more

Had them replace the fan motor and fan blade for central AC unit. Hearthside tech Joe was prompt and courteous. Other HVAC places had a few days wait time, so I was happy that Hearthside could do the repair first thing the next day after my call. Their hourly labor rate is $85, comparable to other companies. Service call fee was $45. Others had a service charge of $85-98, which includes 15 minute to 1/2 hour diagnosis/labor. Joe took the time to review basic ongoing maintenance and was very helpful. Even if you're happy with your HVAC company, you should consider Hearthside if the other guys have a longer wait time. read more
