Emory Point is one of Atlanta's newest and biggest mixed-use developments ITP (inside the perimeter). It opened Fall 2012 and is still currently undergoing development and construction. By the time you read this review, Phase 2 may be complete. This section is on the east side of the property, next to the Emory Hotel & Conference Center. Phase 3 will start on the west side of the property. The entire development is located near Emory University on Clifton Rd, across the street from the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention). I first visited Emory Point in early 2013 to check out The General Muir, Todd Ginsberg's New York-style Jewish deli. The General Muir was one of Emory Point's first tenants and arguably its most popular one. There are several restaurants at Emory Point. Many are chains. These include BurgerFi, Marlow's Tavern, Fresh To Order (fast casual), La Tagliatella (Italian), Tin Lizzy's (Mexican cantina), and Which Wich (sandwiches). There's also Chinese (Chow Mei Mei), Indian (Paradise Biryani Pointe), frozen yogurt, cupcakes (Sweet Monkey), and more. Of the restaurant lineup so far, only The General Muir and La Tagliatella are destination dining spots; ergo, worth a special trip. The other restaurants have locations elsewhere around the city. For an ITP mixed-use development, Emory Point is fairly big. It's not on the same scale as Atlantic Station, but it still has all the requisite elements: apartments, restaurants, retailers, and office space. Everything looks great. The property is relatively new and clean. The landscaping is beautiful and the grounds are well kept. The whole place is nicely designed and aesthetically pleasing. There are charming European elements and lots of open-air patio dining. There's a spacious parking garage in the center of the property with free parking. Free parking is limited to certain hours: If you enter the deck before 5pm, you get two hours free parking. If you enter the deck after 5pm, you get three hours free parking. During peak periods, parking attendants are present to assist folks entering and leaving the garage. The community holds special events such as "Movies & Music in the Park" and farmers markets. Emory Point's main drag is Avenue Place, which runs through the center of the development. If you want to fully explore the shopping center, don't forget to check out the shops and restaurants on the front side that run down Clifton Rd. read more

Emory Point is a little shopping center/food court area across the street from the CDC and Emory campuses. It's a mixed residential/commercial complex and would be an awesome place to live at if you work/go to school at any of the local places. If you're like me and are just visiting, then it's super convenient. They have a CVS on the corner with a full pharmacy if you need to pick anything up. They have an American Chinese restaurant, Papis (Cuban/Caribbean food), Desta (Ethiopian) and one of my favorite places around, General Muirs. GM is great for coffee and their food is surprisingly delicious as well (although I might advise skipping their Sunday fare as it's underwhelming). Unfortunately for the businesses it gets pretty quiet here in the evenings and on weekends but during the day, the complex is bustling. There's a lot of temporary paid parking but you can also park longer if you go to the garage. I don't know how many businesses validate but you can get your ticket stamped at GM after you purchase something. read more

Been living here for a year. Recently they changed the company. Previously, if you want to transfer to a new apt or to a new community, you don't need to pay the application fee. But now, you have to go through the entire process again. The leasing office is unhelpful as always and the agent seems always impatient. Def over priced. If I could choose it again, I wouldn't live here. read more

Emory Point or the Point is not what it used to be. I went here a lot while u was an undergrad at Emory. I can't speak for the apartments themselves, because I only go to restaurants in the area. FWIW, I used to go to the restaurants because they're good. It seems a lot of them have closed as well as some of the shops. Parking was three dollars although they still have the sign up for free two hour parking. They may need to change the sign or take it down. The only reason I would bother going again would be for the General Muir or Desta, but I would avoid the parking deck next time! read more

New development with shops, restaurants, salons. I would love to be able to live in one of the apartments/condos above this area! It's very clean, and there is free 2 hour parking in the garage before 5 pm, and 3 hours after. The metered parking only takes credit/debit cards. The shopping destinations include Tin Lizzy's, Marlows Tavern, Sweet Monkey (froyo), Solar Dimensions Tanning, Which Wich (sandwiches), CVS, fitness, and varius other shops. Emory Point is another one of Atlanta's miniature retail developments with shops, restaurants, and apartments. Since it's not really large, the parking deck is a good place to park as all the spots in front of the stores are metered and with 2 hours free in the parking deck you can easily take your car out and go back in for 2 more free hours. There are plenty of food options such as Marlow's Tavern, Tin Lizzy's Cantina, The General Muir, Which Wich, Sweet Monkey, and more. Plus a couple of shops such as American Threads or my favorite Loft, plus a few other shops. Overall it's a pretty quiet area, traffic isn't that bad until you get stuck in the parking deck behind a bunch of cars trying to get out and someone has lost their ticket, but there's usually an attendant or security guard around to help out. Other than that, it's an "A-Ok" kinda place to hang out at. read more

Lots of options for food and shopping, both clothing and grocery. Very pretty. Almost every restaurant has outdoor seating so it's probably great on a nice day. Nice view of downtown. It's right near the CDC and Emory's campus so a great option if you're in the area for conferences, doc appts, or classes. Key point: three hours free parking. read more

Staying at a nearby hotel within walking distance, this was a good place to go on my free time with a small but nice selection of restaurants and shops. Definitely an upscale crowd - don't look for a dollar store here. There's still a lot of development along the main road from the hotel, so be careful as the sidewalk has a very narrow width - kinda like playing chicken. read more

Given that I have colleagues that work nearby, I have visited a number of times for various lunch meetings. I think that the diversity of restaurants so far is really nice. I am looking forward to seeing what comes with the second phase of this development. I don't use the retail at all, but am happy that there is a CVS should I just happen to need something when I am over there. So far, I have tried Marlow's Tavern, Burger Fi, and Which Wich in person. I had catering from Fresh 2 Order. I look forward to trying out some of the other dining establishments. There is a parking deck. During the day, you get 2 hours for free. In the evening, it is 3 hours for free. When I am there for lunch, there is a parking attendant who will help you as you are leaving. He will take your ticket and put it in the machine. If you happen to need to pay, he will assist with that, as well. It definitely helps to move things along. read more

I'm already very impressed by Emory Point - and it only seems to be about half done. Like most developments popping up these days, it's a mixed development (similar to Atlantic Station), containing commercial properties (restaurants, shops, etc) and residential properties: modern condo-esque apartments overlooking the shopping center. The restaurant options are a huge draw for Emory Point - mainly due to "Restaurant of the Year": The General Muir's restaurant and the European chain, La Tagliatella. The rest of the options aren't too shabby: popular chains serving American bar fare, such as Marlow's Tavern and Tin Lizzys, there's also a Which Wich, and Sweet Monkey - a fro-yo cafe. Other tenants include a CvS and a few trendy fashion boutiques including fa'brik and American Threads. There is free parking offered in the garage up to two hours (on the weekends, up to three hours) as well as metered street parking at $1 per hour. Overall, I really like the set-up, it's nice having a fancy-ish shopping center close by, without having to brave the traffic to get to Buckhead or Midtown. read more

This was my first visit to Tin Lizzy's, and will certainly be back. Great atmosphere; good place to meet friends; inside and outside seating. Loved the chips and guac dip - $9.00. Had 2 tacos - spicy shrimp (very good) and southwestern chicken (ungood! chicken was very dry and taste-less). $3 - $4.00. Parking is free in the covered garage for 2 hours. Street parking is $1.00 per hour, but it's not plentiful. read more

I went to Emory Point a few days ago only to find that even more restaurants and shops are now closed. Now there are only about 4 restaurants and one clothing store, also there are a few exercise places but that's it! Parking was also $3 for up to 2 hours when it use to be free. I'm not sure if the rent is just super high or what but this was a total waste of time. I doubt I will return to Emory Point. read more

I'm woken up by trucks EVERY MORNING at around 6 AM or 6:30 AM. Extremely noisy environment for a high quality sleep. Considering the rental price (~1500/mo/person), Emory Point is awful. read more

Parking used to be free up to 2 hours but now it's $3 up to 2 hrs ($5 for 3 hours). It's really intended to service people who walk here from the nearby businesses. There's also no coffee shop, only eateries. General Muir serves coffee but it's also a restaurant so it's very busy; not ideal for a meeting over coffee after work. read more

Living in the Buckhead area my boyfriend and I try to check out different places around the area for food and drinks on our Friday nights. We have been to Tin Lizzy's many times around our house in Buckhead and have always liked their food. One Saturday night we decided to venture out to Emory Point and decided to eat at Tin Lizzy's. When we arrived, we were welcomed with smiling faces and great music playing on the patio. Thomas was our server. I have never been so impressed with a server at any establishment as I have been with Thomas. He was attentive and had a perfect mixture of conversation and service. Our first time at Tin Lizzy's at Emory Point was definitely a memorable one. When my boyfriend and I went back to this Tin Lizzy's a couple weeks later, we were welcomed once again by Thomas. We were most impressed how he remembered our names and even our order. He definitely created a great atmosphere for us and we will now forever become loyal to this Tin Lizzy's location. I strongly recommend this place for anyone looking to grab very reasonably priced food with a great atmosphere. It is a great place to just grab drinks at the same time a perfect date spot. Ownership and management must be doing a great job because every employee who worked there seemed to have a smile on their face and an upbeat personality. It is rare these days to find such genuine service, and when you do, I feel it needs to be recognized. Keep it up Tin Lizzy's and if you can ask for Thomas, he will give you VIP treatment and you will leave happy. read more

The leasing office was difficult to deal with. On our move in day ( a Sunday) we arrived at the leasing office to begin the moving process. We had hired three movers who arrived at 1:15. Due to snafus created by the staff, we were not able to begin moving into the storage unit until tow hours later. When I complained, I was told that we should not have moved in on the weekend, as the leasing office is too busy on the weekend to address our needs and the leasing office is short staffed (yes, the problems we were having were actually MY fault...). So I paid three movers for 2 hours when they were unable to accomplish anything. When I asked the company for compensation for that time, I was told they would only compensate me for half of my expenses. Go figure. read more

I would not recommend this apartment complex. The staff are extremely difficult to deal with. This includes improper maintenance, poor security (key fobs malfunctions, broken garage doors, etc.) and even apartments that were so poorly designed that they do not receive cellular service. Furthermore, what appears to be luxury amenities can quickly be identified as cheaply built lip service. Living here almost feels like a scam! read more

Emory Point is a great addition to the area. I often hold lunch meetings at the restaurants and shop at the retail stores. However, by far, one of MY FAVORITE things is the guy who works in the parking deck who does push-ups in between helping out customers.!!! This dude totally motivates me! I mean, most of us at Emory Point are indulging in massive calories or spending money while this guy takes care of his health while working in the parking garage. He is an inspiration! We should all seize the moment -- we would be a much healthier country. All the CDC and Emory employees who frequent Emory Point know this to be true! Keep it up dude. Keep showing us all how we should stay in good physical condition regardless of work conditions. Thanks for the motivation. It makes me want to keeping visiting this shopping center.
