My lady has been doing my hair through all my life phases (layers, bangs, bob cuts, etc) Just a couple weeks ago I went to her again for an above the shoulder cut and we talked about how when I first went to her I was a teenager and now I'm 4 kids in. I dropped off pants to be hemmed. They have a side business on alterations. They didn't give me a receipt so I asked him to write it on a piece of paper --they asked me to come back in three days when I got there the third day it wasn't done and so the guy Dan asked me to wait while he's doing it. Made me wait 25 min!! Why would you do this ?? why can't you do it while I'm gone?!! I gave you three days!! I will never go back to this alteration place. They don't know how to speak English. I've been going here for a couple of years, and I have to say -- Alex is the man! He can do guy's hair (obviously), he can do ladies' hair. I've seen him do highlights and prom hair styles. Just be careful if you go tithe lady, as she doesn't speak English very well, and isn't as good as Alex when it comes to men's hairstyles. And did I mention that this place is CHEAP? It's only $10 for a men's haircut. I easily pay twice that whenever I go to a Supercuts. My only complaint is that Alex tends to wander away from the store, and then there's no telling when he'll be back. There have been a few such occasions where I didn't have any other time to get a haircut, and I've had to settle for the aforementioned Supercuts. When I don't feel like dealing with my long hair I can go here and they wash my hair and straighten it for such a deal. If I'm looking for a perfect and consistent fade, it doesn't get any better than this place. I came here upon recommendation from a good friend who changed barbers due to his long-time barber being ridiculously overbooked. He raved about how quick this place was. I figured if it was enough for him to leave his barber of many years, it would be worth checking out. Plus my hair was growing horribly out of control. Can you say emo? My friend was not kidding. I sat in the barber chair at 12:35 PM and was done and paid for by 12:55 PM, and was cut exactly as explained. The place is easy to find with plenty of parking. For guys, reservations are not necessary as they welcome walk-ins. Be advised, I've only come to this place for fades and trims. If you're looking to get your hair frosted, feathered, pampered or whatever it is you guys with long hair do, please share your opinion with me. I'm currently growing my hair out. read more

For example, I can pay $12 + tip for waxing for lip and eyebrows. A similar service will cost around $20 bucks elsewhere. Very good deals also for manicures and pedicures. I know a bit less about their professional hair services. 3. Location: Very easy to find though taking transit to it is a bit harder. In the lot where Bally's Fitness is located and across the lot from KMART. 4. Variety of services including hair cutting, nail, and waxing. 5. Takes walk in. I've never made an appointment here and always got serviced pretty fast. 6. Open all days including weekends. Hours of operations: 10-8pm (M-F), 9am-7pm (Sat), 10am-6pm (Sun). 7. Takes credit card - e.g. VISA Cons: 1. Customer service can really be improved. I never get a thank you as a customer. 2. While it takes credit card, it charges .50 cents for a fee. Thought I would try somewhere new. How does that saying go...you never know until you try? Made an appointment for a pedicure. Came in on time but had to wait 30 minutes. No sorry or anything, strike one. Place is located by Ballys in the strip mall. They do hair, nails and alterations that is a new combo for me. It's not the cleanest and not the worst I have seen. There are two or three chairs for hair, two chairs in the back for pedicures, a hair washing area and the alteration booth in the very back. The people here seem nice they don't talk a lot to each other nor to the customers. There was a male taking care of the hair care clients and two ladies tending to the nail care. Pedicures usually last about 40 minutes from start to finish. My experience was the fastest, most rushed, bad job I have ever had that lasted 20 minutes. I was looking forward to relaxing in a spa chair with a little foot and leg lovin'. But instead got poked and cut bad enough that it bled and I have polish all over where it shouldn't be. Strike two, three and four. What an experience for $17.00. Oh well can't say I didn't give them a try. read more

I came here when this place first opened. I decided to try it since I live nearby...but that was a wrong decision. I asked the man to just TRIM my hair and to keep it layered... but he just kept cutting and cutting and cutting, and took about like 5 inches off! I though to myself that maybe it'll be okay...but after the whole cut, i did NOT like it. I was annoyed that he didn't listen to me and that I had to pay 15 bucks for the cut. Decently priced Men's haircut at $10, but my hairstylist lacked finesse with her shears and buzzers. I like haircut experience to be calming and relaxing, but Emotion Beauty Salon didn't deliver. As I asked for a #2 on the sides, the stylist rubbed my skull with her hair clipper like it was some sort of scalp massage. It wasn't unpleasant per se, but it did feel aggravating at times as she turned the corners around my ears and inion (that's the protruding bone on the back of your skull!). The shear work on the top was quick, but lacked accuracy as I noticed a some hairs that were completely missed. Maybe the stylist was new or in a rush, but you can find better $10 haircuts in San Leandro. read more

I got my eyebrows waxed and I asked for mirror while she waxed my eyebrows and her reply was no. She didn't speak much English so I agreed to let her continue. In conclusion, one eyebrow is half as short as the other. I was in a time crunch and was glad that they took walk ins but now I'm drawing in my half bald eyebrows. read more

I would be very careful getting any nail service here ESPECIALLY a pedicure. I went here one year ago and an older women did My pedicure. I thought something was weird because she kept digging in to the right side of the nail on my right foot. The next day full blown infection. Had to go to the Foot Doctor had to have the nail removed and when it grew back it grew back wrong so I had to have a second surgery all because of them. And I have great looking feet from what I am told and certainly no ingrown nail. Now I know some of you might think I am an idiot for this but I was tanning next door a few day's ago and looked in saw a new person and thought what the heck they can't do it the second time. WRONG. Same thing on the right toe four hours later I was at the foot Doctor again infected. Took the nail out again. Stay the heck away from these people I am in the middle of reporting them to the Alameda Better business Bureau and whoever regulates cosmetologists and nail techs. So I came in here looking to get a haircut for myself . I got a haircut by the lady ,as I go to sit down a guy waiting tells me to make sure I tell her how I want my haircut because she likes to make the decision for you. I asked for No. 2 on top and 0 on the side. As soon as she made the first cut I knew it was not a 2 . I go ahead and ask her if that's a 2 , she tells me yes. As you can see in the picture it is not a 2 . It is a very short 1 . Apart from all of that she is very aggressive with her clippers . I haven't been at Emotion for a while, because I was moving back to Oakland from San Leandro due to divorced. Last week, I just stopped by at Emotion for a haircut. There is something changed at the shop, Alex is back after gone to work for someone, and plus they have a new young girl working over there. As I know she (Linda) is new on the job for a few months, the first time I was afraid to let her cut my hair, but after I gave her a chance to do it, then I knew for sure she knows what she is doing. Built in the new mall thing that used to be the parking lot adjacent to Bally's Total Fitness, this one-stop salon is a nice respite after working out. Everyone is really nice, though I still find it a bit disconcerting to have that many services in one location. But that's just me. The prices are reasonable, which was a good thing, because I would have had a heart attack after working out, if they weren't. Though I would recommend one keep flip-flops in their car, just in case, so as not to mess up the nice pedicure they received on account of having to put back on the sweaty socks and tennis shoes. Lesson learned, but no regrets, because you can't really see the sock marks on dark nail polish. read more

i went in to get my hair trimmed and last time a older lady did it and it was perfect.... she listen to what i had said and did everything how i wanted it.... but this time when i went in the guy was there and i told him take off 1inch and he did at first then he dryed my hair and straightened it (he didn't ask me if he could he just did it).... after that he started cutting more of my hair of i was sitting there and in my head i wanted to scream.... he cut 5 to 6 inches off and i hate it but I just smiled and payed..... but when it came time to pay the bill was $40 and last time i came in for the SAME thing it was $25 and i asked why it was $40 and he said the wash cut blow dry and straighten....... when you get your hair cut don't you usually get it washed? No stars!! Do not go here for nails! I used to tan next door and would come in here to get a mani and pedi because it was so convenient. They were always nice to me and very friendly so I would also get clothing alterations done there as well. It was like a one-stop-shop. But once I was getting a pedicure done just before my wedding shower and a couple weeks later ended up with the toe nail fungus under my big right toe. This was over three years ago, but I doubt much has changed. Once you get it, there isn't much you can do to get rid of it according to my doctor. This is from the lady who did my pedicure not using clean tools and not being careful. This is the number one cause of toe fungus. And now I suffer from it. It is definitely embarrassing and it is actually painful when I get pedicures done or when any kind of pressure is applied to my big toe nail. I should've said something earlier on Yelp because I never forgot about this and knew right after it happened that I would NEVER go back. The lady would dig out my cuticle so deeply that she made me bleed and it hurt like hell. Shortly after that was when my toe was inflicted with the fungus. So choose your nail salons wisely and make the extra effort to go to clean and professional, quality salons. I like Queen's Nails in Hayward on Hesperian by the Target. They are excellent. But there are many others to choose from in San Leandro. read more

I give this place great props for the haircuts, highlights and Japanese straight Perms. Alex his mom and Holly do great cuts. The reason I did not give them 5 points is the customer service. Too aggressive with tonail nippers, rough with straight perm. (but the perm came out great) They do great flat Irons too. read more

This place is a disaster!! The only efficient one is Alex at cutting hair for men. I started to go there about a year ago. They used to do a magnificent job with my eyebrows ( that was the skinny young Asian girl) later on the older Asian lady started to mess up on them but I kept on going because she did a fair job for $9 until she literally slashed my eyebrow, it hasn't grown back yet the way it was. Also, pedicures horrible for $17 it's just not worth it I rather pay $30 somewhere else. This lady poke and cut my toes making them bleed. I chose a light color for my toe nails and the lady in a so not pleasant voice told.me that it was too light too many coats. Seriously why would they carry a color that They're too lazy to apply?? Aggressively after being done she grabbed my flip flops and tried putting them on me so I could leave.... It seemed that she was in a hurry and wanted me out of there on a quickness. Since the nail polish wasn't dried yet she mest up by toes and she yelled at me saying "careful" who In The world puts on their shoes not even seconds of getting their toe nails painted... After she fixed it she told me to get up and I almost slipped she didn't gave my a towel they have tile n my toes were still wet.... They do such a mediocre job that I'm seriously never going back. They didn't deserved a tip & were lucky that I payed them after cutting me. That's how salons lose clients. ah and not to mention that the old lady cut my moms hair in layers and uneven after my mom told her that she just wanted her hair straight and no layers... I have been going to Alex for years, and he is the best for men's haircuts. I think it is such a reasonable price that I pay him with a full $20 bill every time. He was on vacation last month, with in-laws in from Korea, so I had to have the lady who was there cut my hair. She did just as good! I am embarrased to say, before I retired, my wife and a friend convinced me to have my gray hair colored somewhere else. It was a botched job, which a re-do did not repair. So my mom raves about this place because she gets mani/pedis from "Holly." I went there and there was only one lady that was there and I was desperate to get a mani/pedi before I went into labor (I was due in a week). The older asian lady who I later found out was NOT Holly did my mani/pedi for $24 and it was not a pleasant experience. First she did my pedicure - note there's only two spa chairs so make an appointment. Things were going well until I felt excruciating pain! I screamed bloody murder and she says, "sorry, you have an ingrown." No lady - I did not ask you take my ingrowns out and by the way, isn't that forbidden? I let her continue to my manicure - both were just so so... I felt very rushed and my cuticles were not completely clean cut. So I try the eyebrow wax. Apparently the waxing room was taken so she had me sit in the chair that people use to wash their hair and it was completely uncomfortable. Afterwards, she hands me a mirror to check it. Lighting was bad so it looked okay. But when I got home, she left several small hairs that I basically had to pluck them out all over again!
