One of my aunties, my mom's friend, recommended this salon while I was researching salons to go get a reasonably-priced haircut at. I called to inquire about haircuts, and got Mai on the phone. Booked a Thursday afternoon with her. It was $50 for women's haircut. It was $160-ish (I can't remember the price, but somewhere in that ballpark) if I wanted a balayage. I went with just a haircut. I went in wanting a butterfly cut. Mai consulted me on how she would cut it, and even though it was a bit shorter than what she said it would be, it was fine, as I wanted to go just below shoulder-length. I have waist-length hair that had been permed nearly 2 years earlier, so the bottom half of my hair kind of has a wavy/slightly curly texture, and the top of my hair was kind of flat and heavy. Now that I'm a Master's student while also working full-time, it was time for a more manageable hair length and style while pursuing my studies. My boyfriend said, "I love it! You look gorgeous and sexy!" He's my boyfriend, so that was incredibly sweet of him to see. My mother, who can be hyper-critical and blunt, praised the haircut, saying it looks really pretty, the hairstylist did a great job. Pretty nice hair salon, I've come here probably 4-5 times since it opened. I want to say that I've had different hair dressers every time. The owner Ann did my straight perm back in 2012. Which was pretty good, lasted longer than 1 year but the process was sooooooo long. Around 6-7 hours. Jade cut my hair as well, she was good. A bit more worried about if she was doing okay or not so she didn't really cut much of my hair. Eason on the other hand, he was super into what he was doin. I went in with long hair and wanted to do an A-line but not exactly sure how exactly I wanted it. And he basically just took what I told him and did what he could. AMAZING. I can honestly say I've had better haircuts for $7. Writing a review for another salon reminded me of my terrible experience at this salon. I was recommended this place by two of my Chinese friends. Also, it's pretty strange looking at the other reviews seeing all the one stars vs. the five stars. I went to this salon a few years ago with my mom. Let's talk about the price. I got a haircut with my long hair and they charged $80. I was so shocked. My mom got a trim and they charged her $50. On top of that, the service was god-awful. The worst I've ever had. One person was available to cut my hair. A few minutes into it, he left without saying a word. The hair was still clipped so that all of my hair was in my face. He took a smoke break in the middle of my haircut. He came back smelling terrible. This was not worth $80 at all. I actually saw him a few days ago taking a smoke break outside of the salon, so he's still working there. read more

Pandemic Review I was coming here on a regular basis before and during the pandemic. Once restrictions were loosened, I reached out to my usual May to have my haircut. Haircuts are in the $25 range, but they do the usual hair wash as well as cut. The people in the front desk are very nice and while they don't speak much English, it's easy enough to communicate and wait for your haircut. I can't speak for the other stylists, but May is very accommodating and very easy to communicate with for your hair needs. It is greatly recommended to get your stylists number to set up an appointment as it is more convenient. Be aware though that they do accept walk-ins, but you may be left waiting due to an appointment. Parking for this place is plentiful as the plaza is huge and it's next to a Safeway. I would recommend going or coming in the morning as it would be easier to avoid the major rush for Safeway. read more

Zero Star Review I felt I got sexual harassment. So a male hair stylist cut my hair for me (the one in his middle age, about 40+?). We both speak Cantonese, I guess that is why he thinks he can just say whatever to me? So here are two conversations that make me feel aweful: 1. he: hey, you know what, I think you are very pretty, but you are just too short. me: ?????????? he: don't get mad. I am telling the truth. 2. he: did you do your makeup yourself? me:eh, yes? he: ok, you got a pass grade on your makeup. Not bad. Horrible horrible horrible service. I wanted to do balayage but not one of those employee can speak english at all. So they don't understand what i want. So i took my bf go with me and do hair coloring. The service is totally suck why? They bleached my hair. But they bad part is he bleached whole my root a whole time and put almost 3 hrs in there. My scalp burnt but no one give a fuck or care. I did let them know my scalp burning and want them be careful when wash my hair. But that guy just do rough way anyway. My sister and I just got a haircut here, both left very satisfied! My hair wasn't cut any shorter than I wanted and all my unhealthy, dry, split-end hair was cut off and I ended up with a perfect blunt straight cut, exactly what I asked for. I left this salon feeling deceived. While waiting there, I asked the woman at the front desk about the haircut price. She said $35 for women, and $40 with hair wash. So one guy asked me to skip someone who had been waiting in front of me. I felt awful. The guy asked me not to care about him! Then he cut my hair really fast and dragged my hair so often as he was rushing to finish it. Not nice. The worst part is the guy charged me $40 instead of $35, claiming that my hair needed to be super short to pay $35. I was too kind to leave him the amount of tip he does not deserve. I can honestly say this was the worst cut I've ever received. I asked for 2 inches off but May cut at least 4 inches. My hair was waist length when I walked in and shoulder length when I walked out. It was twice as short as I asked. I don't know if she messed up and kept cutting or if she just wanted to do her own thing?? When I told her it was too short she kept going telling me it was okay and my head would feel lighter, but that's not what I asked for. On top of that, she cut it all uneven and choppy. Some of my layers are longer in the front and shorter in the back. At this point they're no longer layers, they're just uneven. It was so bad I had to go to another salon to fix it. Jade has now been doing my hair for a year. I love how she cut my hair the first and when she trims it to maintain the cut I want. I showed a picture and she was spot on to my expectations. I like watching her cutting my hair because it looks so artistic. She is a lovely lady but doesn't engage in conversation, especially at first. Now that she has known me we do the usual salutations which I'm fine with. When the stylist talks too much they then to not pay attention to what they are doing, so no conversations is fine with me. I'm always happy when I leave with my cut or trim. She also does a great job of coloring my hair. She also did a special hot oil treat on my hair and I was very pleased. I came in to get my hair dyed. I chose the color light brown which in their book was like a caramel blonde. I have dark hair and I understood it takes time to process to blonde however by time she processed my hair for the 3rd time, some of my hair was already starting to fall out. She processed it one more time and each time it was still an uneven color. It was hidden when she straightened my hair, however when I got home and looked at it. It was uneven all the way through.
