Actually I like the idea. Great idea and effort! İ like empanadas. Generous and delicous farcement! I only expect better dough! But still good. We have chosen 3 different types. Traditional (steak), anticicera (chicken) and Oriental (chicken). I like all, I prefer less sugar... They also put powdered sugar top of traditional steak empanada. Its good, different but not It's not the taste I'm used to... But not bad at all. Even it's good. Foremost I like the ladies, they serving happiness and smiling face. My second time coming for lunch and for the second time it was perfect again! The staff is amazing and friendly. Smiling and there to help answer questions and explain the empanadas. And OH MY GWAD they are so flavorful and cooked just right. The shell is soft and small amount for crispy on the edges, the inside packed with so much! They also have different choices from traditional to oriental to veggies, that pair with yummy sauces. Just writing about them makes me want to go back again! From the minds behind Puerto511 - Chef Jose Victorio has finally opened his Peruvian empanada concept in fells point at the former Sofi's crêpe location. I do have to write a disclaimer - I am writing the article for Baltimore magazine about this place but the food and service that I received was phenomenal. The space is much larger than I originally imagined because when I used to go to Sofi's, it was during Covid and I would only order from the window, but if you turn the corner, there's a whole main entrance with inside seating, a huge outdoor seating and they have restrooms and water stations. What shocked me the most about this empanada place is their commitment to the environment traditionally to go places waste a lot of plastic and to go containers, but this hand food revolution as the chef says is to reduce 90% of waste. Only the chimichurri sauce because of the oils comes in plastic. Everything else is in a compostable container. The Peruvian empanada dough is a little sweeter than the other empanadas and it is filled with what feels like a full meal. At first glance, the "oriental" might seem a little strange, and not PC, but in Spanish it's not a bad word for Asian cultural items. This had the Chinese Peruvian fusion fried rice and it is so delicious and there's a hint of smokiness and it feels like you're eating this fried rice inside of an empanada dough. This is still in their soft opening phase, but as of this weekend, they are going to be fully operational from 11 AM to 8 PM Tuesdays through Sundays. We love supporting local businesses, and honestly the quality of the empanadas here - they're baked and none of the meats that they use is ground - they cut them. The price point is really fair considering how much work goes into their empanadas considering also that their dough is handmade. It's not pre-bought and the quality of the ingredients are really excellent - I think other places are selling their empanadas for a little more. $5 is a steal - you do pay .50 for their sauces. Oh my goodness, I am so happy to have this empanada place open in Fells! It is absolutely delightful. The location is kinda hidden, tucked away in the alley by Barcocina but with a huge outdoor seating area! The chicha morada is my absolute fave - so refreshing! The veggie empanada was hot and fresh with the best filling. The ladies that work here are such sweethearts and work so hard to make everything from scratch! The guanábana smoothie is also so yummy! Great new Peruvian empanadas shop in Fells. It's tucked away right near Kilwins. They have both an indoor ordering option or a window outside. There's minimal dining inside but plenty of outside options too. There are about 7 different options to choose from and all were delicious. The drinks are fun and localized too. This new spot in Fells is awesome!!! Friendly service with great menu recommendations. We got the lomo saltado and huachana empanadas, and both were so delicious, especially with their aji sauce (adds a little kick). About $5-6 per empanada and $0.50 per sauce. Limited indoor seating, would recommend eating by the benches near the harbor! read more

I was excited to check this place out-I love empanadas and love puerto 511! The empanadas were fine, while the sauces were excellent. They would have been better had they been freshly cooked-instead they were pulled from under a heat lamp. I was slightly confused to see the total on my bill-the large wall menu clearly displays a price of $5 per empanada but they actually charge $5.95. It's been that way for a while and they don't seem inclined to correct which isn't great in terms of transparency. I also tried the lucuma smootheie-different, but tasty. Hoping they move to heating to order and correct their menu soon. read more

I would say 3.5 or 4, those who know, know this place used to be Andina and that was located downtown by Puerto 511.. I loved Andina's empanadas. Even tho at its core the names of the empanadas are the same they are just not what they were when i compare. The Lomo Saltado empanada is still fire tho , but I was unimpressed with the others I got. Check them Out. It could be the dough they are using since these ones are bigger. read more

This spot is so clean and well-thought out. It has water bowls and snacks for dogs, a big ice water station, and ample seating (especially outside). I got the one vegetarian option, which was fresh and flavorful, and just tasted like real food. I paired it with the chimichurri, which was vibrant and garlicky. I could have easily eaten a 2nd empanada for lunch and will get 2 next time. I do wish they'd add a second vegetarian option for variety. read more

I went with my 7-year-old son because we like empanadas I always prepare them at home, but this time we decided to explore empa 511, we ordered the chicken one, the turkey one and the vegetable one, the chicken one tasted exaggeratedly of garlic, the turkey one had a touch of cream with garlic but very strong and the vegetable one was the only one that was good. On that occasion we were attended by Mrs. Patricia Margarita, who with a gesture of mocking smile laughed because I did not leave her a tip. I told chef Victorio my comment as a customer and he justified himself by saying that maybe his cooks did it wrong, that was just his answer. That was our first experience, we decided to return to state that the cook thing was true, this time I went with my friend John from Washington to give me his opinion because I am Peruvian and I know empanadas very well. We ordered the huachana which was so salty that we threw it away, the loin didn't have much juice and the anticuchera still had a very strong garlic flavor. My friend and I decided that the best was the vegetable one and another surprise was the very Peruvian purple chicha, it was very watery not as a real purple chicha should be, the passion fruit with chia still tasted like water with a touch of passion fruit flavor. My applause for Mrs. Susan who is very nice attending and Miss Kenya super cute and charming, I am very sorry that she is no longer working there.
