Inside Pastilitos

So I dined and last week and again, I am happy. I did only order appetizers because that is what I love and I wasn't being very adventurous but they filled me up. Two horchatas later and the excitement from seeing others order the stuff lobster and disappointment I hadn't, left me extremely satisfied. The other ladies who joined me were happy with their meals as well and couldn't believe how such a small place on the outside had such amazing flavor and great food on the inside. I promise, the next time I go back I will order something different. Not saying I still won't get my pupusas and tamales to go but I will definitely order a different dish. Maybe even entree

This isn't like some fancy restaurant. This is a nice, homemade food type of place. As in, this taste like something from your abuelas house. Which I personally enjoy but perhaps others would not! Portions: Medium - Large Dishes: Chicken Tamales and Pupusa

Pupusa's were ok.

The staff was attentive and super friendly. It's a cute restaurant with great tasting food. If you're reading this, YOU MUST TRY!

The best Latino food in Baltimore City without a doubt. Very homey and comfortable atmosphere and services, awesome delicious food at large amount with good (almost on the cheap side) price. Salsa that came with the complimentary chip sets the right start to what's coming up. Chicken soup is hearty and has large amount of vegetables and meat (1 whole breast & 1 whole wing). Plate combo has greatness of everything: perfectly fried plantain and corn bread, soft chewy steamed tamale fully stuffed with bean and pork, super tasty aide rice and beans, warm and fluffy tortilla, and the most tasty beef. Rice pudding is just the right finish to all the great flavors. I left the hat on the seat and the staff ran out and gave it to me before we drove away, I am very thankful for that kindness!

This place offer very great spanish food, especially salvadorean. Pupusas are my favorite. Also the best "aguas frescas". I recommend also the mexican steak. With spanish rice, salads and spicy sauce on peppers.

I do not know how this place got 4 stars. We went there around 6:30pm, and were seated in the back room area, where there was one other group of people. It was FRREZING COLD back there! The waiter came and took our order, and was nice. I got two corn tamales, and my lovely dining partner got a chicken burrito. I will let her review her experience with that. The food took a LONG time to come out to us, for the amount of people that were in the restaurant. My corn tamales were good. I only ate one, because there was nothing else on the plate to offset the soft texture of the tamales. They had a soccer game on the WHOLE time we ate, and I GET that soccer is a staple in Mexico, but when you have guests, at least turn the volume down enough so the guests who actually want to have a conversation....can. No one said hello to us (other than the waiter who sat us)., or goodbye to us when we left. As we left, we walked through the WARM part of the restaurant where there was soft ambiance lighting...and HEAT. There are WAY too many restaurants to choose from here in Bmore. Seriously....we will not be back there. We love to eat out, and try the diverse richness in culture that we love about Bmore. Sad to say, this place is not a great impression of our city.

I ordered three chicken and cheese pupusas, and they were a great size. I was nearly full after the first two. The flavor was on point. My apologies for my photo because I was already halfway through my third pupusa before I remembered to snap a picture. I also tried the corn tamale, which my wife and I enjoyed a lot. On top of that, I ordered a steak taco, which unfortunately didn't make it into a picture either because I ate it too fast. What stood out to me was the "shell." Instead of the usual flour or corn tortilla, it uses the same masa dough as the pupusa, and I really enjoyed that difference. We finished our meal with the nuegados en miel dulce, something I had never tried before. I was glad I did because it was delicious and a great way to end the meal. Overall, the food and experience were excellent. If you are like me and rely on Yelp reviews to decide where to eat, I highly recommend giving La Casita Pupuseria & Market a visit. You will be well pleased like I was.

There are a few cafe tables out front and 10, or so tables inside. The plantains are just how I cook them, without the mess. You get 1 whole plantain with sauce on the side. Shrimp is seasoned just right. Rice sides actually have flavor- unlike other shops that just throw some dried parsley on it. Just try it, you won't go wrond.

I wasn't feeling up to the big chains and places I wanted to try seemed to close early. Luckily this place was open and I had been wanting to try it for a while. Definitely it let a hidden gem! There are some parking spots right in front, although not many. There is a decent amount of seating, but it would be tight if you had a large party. My partner did note that the bathrooms weren't that great. You immediately get served complementary chips and salsa. They were pretty basic, but not bad. We ordered the following: + Papusas (Pork and Cheese & Loroco and Cheese) - Decent, although I prefer the Loroco (an edible flower bud). + Pollo à la Primavera (chicken dish) - Yummy, especially the sauce which mixes well with their hot/spicy sauce too! I could do without the salad dressing. + Camarones con Calabeza (shrimp dish) - Same as above! Note they leave the tails on. + Natural Juices (Mango and Maranon) - So refreshing! I loved the Maranon (cashew apple) was a wonderful burst of tropical sweetness with a subtle nutty taste. I appreciate that for the pupusas they had the foresight to provide my partner and I two plates so we could sphere the papusas. The portion sizes of the entrees were great for the price. It did take a while for the staff to swing by so that we could get boxes and the check. Note that credit cards and mobile pay are accepted. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back again to try more items on their menu.
