I have had wonderful experiences with the evening team and cannot say enough good things about them! Everyone is welcoming, professional, hardworking, and genuinely passionate about what they do. The atmosphere is warm, positive, and collaborative, and the evening educator is exceptionally hospitable, caring, kind, encouraging, and supportive. She creates an environment where the students can thrive and where clients feel valued and comfortable. Ms. Cat/Kat did my hair in month of May, and although I only asked for two cornrows, she went above and beyond and delivered a beautiful and creative style in less than an hour. Her skill, attention to detail, and artistic touch truly impressed me. She is talented, efficient, and has such a pleasant personality. Today, Moni did my wash and set, and she did an outstanding job. My hair was very tangled, but she handled it with so much patience, gentleness, and professionalism. She took her time and transformed my hair into gorgeous curls...I honestly looked like a different person by the end! Moni is incredibly sweet, dedicated, and hardworking. Even while expecting a baby, she continues to serve clients with grace, kindness, and excellence, which I deeply admire. All of the students are beautiful inside and out, respectful, eager to learn, and committed to providing excellent service. I've been here twice and they always get me looking right. They are still students though so don't come with anything too complicated, I came a style that took four of them to figure out and maybe an hour too long but by the end of it I did really love the style. The teacher is always on the floor watching and helping which makes me feel better. Pro tip of your a natural girly come with your hair already washed and ready to style. read more

I regularly get my hair cut here and most recently saw Onnesti. She was only in her second week working the floor with customers and did a great job with my bob and undercut (which is kind of like 2 haircuts in 1, so it's not necessarily the simplest 'do to tackle). She diligently checked in with her teacher about how to taper with the clippers and picked it up right away. She was also pleasant to chat with and made sure I was comfortable throughout my visit. read more

made a appointment for a two strand wait. arrived and checked in but was never called back for service. waited 30 minutes and none came. finally went to the desk to ask if anyone would be servicing me and was told that the stylist was not coming in. noone came over to inform me. I was told that the instructor could show someone how to do it and she would do it. excuse me NOT also teacher was a bit loud. this place is so unprofessional and the instructor tried her best to apologize but she was struggling to find an answer as she stumble on her words. she really was lying as I could tell. stay away from this place read more

Empire is a school that you can learn and grow. In the cosmetology industry this is an important stepping stone into becoming a professional. The instructors from Mrs.D, to Mrs.Jo, they educators make you feel welcomed and are trained to prepare you for the future as a stylist the best way they know how! The educators make you feel confident in what you do. They don't let you fail. There are ups and downs of course along the way but overall the school is a 9/10. With more students joining it's only going to get bigger and better. I tried to make an appointment to get my nieces hair cut but when I called they informed me that I didn't need to make a appointment they do walk ins and the earlier you come in the better the start taking walk in at 9:30am. So fast forward 4 days we go & get there at 9am & sit in the parking lot til 9:30, go inside to ask for a hair cut & the girl tells us to go have a seat while she finds someone available to cut her hair. Some lady comes over to tell us they are fully booked with appointments that no one can cut her hair. I told her that I tried to make an appointment but was told I didn't need one. She said all she could do was make an appointment for another day or give me $5 or call other school for us to drive to & maybe they can take her. If they are only gonna do appointments then they shouldn't tell people they do walk ins. Super pissed read more

The staff here is so rude and unprofessional. I feel absolutely horrible for the students who have to learn here. The minute I walked in , I saw teachers vaping behind desks , and students left to fend for themselves.. no teachers ever came to check on them during their hair styling, which I think is very important for LEARNING students. As I was getting my hair done, the staff was cussing, and giving even more attitude to OTHER clients as well! I felt horrible for the students who have to learn here, for they are not being treated fairly by their peers. I sense favoritism amongst this place, and it breaks my heart for the people who are also trying to learn.. just go somewhere else. read more

Tomorrow I'll go to Pittsburgh's beauty school. I miss the beauty school in New Haven, CT, but it's too far to drive right now. This school does not do box braids with added hair? I was fortunate to get a professional beautician. They do not have "No Lye" relaxers here, they have "Low Lye" They use Design Essentials. They use a nozzle liquid to base the scalp. I WILL NOT go here again. The teacher burned my hair. After going here weekly for deep conditioners (2) instructors commented on how bad a condition my hair WAS in. Ok UNCLE! I talked to a lady who does nice braids and I now go to her house and get my hair braided! She put an over abundance of extra hair in my head, but that can be fixed. read more

I attended this school a few years ago for nail tech. After I took out a sally mae loan to pay for it, I came to find out there was no curriculum for this!!! They put me in w general cosmetology and I had two weeks of a basic nail class and was thrown on the floor. They did not even teach me the basics to pass my state board test. Imagine paying back a Sally Mae loan and not even be in the profession for the class you took!! Save your money and time; there are schools around that teach you what they promise. I chose this school because other area schools had added on 100 hours so they would have the time to teach more. To think....I actually may have learned something...smh. read more

I went in for a haircut. Told the girl I wanted about an inch off the bottom and then to layer my hair. Well, the girl couldn't get my sides even in the front so she kept cutting. The teacher came and looked and did nothing to help. Finally, I said never mind leave it and don't bother even trying to layer it. I had to pay for the uneven hair and pay to go somewhere else to have it fixed. I will never go back there again for anything. read more

So the supervisor intrudes and decides to give the girl a break and have a girl who was skilled on ethnic hair, who is ethnic herself, to do my hair. Why didn't you just do that in the first place. So this salon tries to be like regular salons. They will set you an appointment however if the person scheduled before you wants to add on a color treatment day of (so much for your appointment). Real salons will advise that you will need to schedule an additional appointment for that service as there is not enough time. However, Empire will go ahead and screw the next person over in a heartbeat. I waited over 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. It was overal such a disappointment. I got a quick dry haircut. It wasnt relaxing at all. read more
