I came in as a walk-in and there was no wait, but that's where the positive ends…read more When I sat down, I told the lady that I do not want my browns thin and that they are shaped differently, but I prefer the more square shape of my right brow. She said ok and said she would clean them up first but proceeded to butcher my brows! When I sat up and looked, I expressed that they looked totally different from one another and that the left brow was way too thin. She said my hair is curly and they are shaped different (which I already told her before she started) and it's has ever caused a problem for my usual place off of Clairmont Rd. I should've just made that drive! Also, she threaded my upper lip and chin after she butchered my brows, I figured, she can't mess that up, but her energy had definitely changed. I should have left then because she continued to thread hard over the same spot on my upper lip, like she was mad. Eventually I had to stop her because it was getting really painful! She claimed she was "trying to get this one hair," but she was being excessive and aggressive. When she checked me out, it took her a while, like she didn't know how to work the device. Needless to say I didn't tip, I thought about not even paying for the brows but I went ahead and did it. After I completed the transaction on my end, the screen changed back to the main logo and I knew she was finally done but she just stood there...so I did too. I was dropped in a room and told to undress. I wasn't given a sheet or anything to cover myself with that could've been slid down once the technician started. When she came in, she asked me to turn on my back and raise my legs to wax between my cheeks. I expressed I'd never had it done that way for JUST between the cheeks. She shared that she'd never done between the buttocks only. After the first, very painful strip, I insisted to turn on my stomach bc I didn't want a knee-jerk reaction of accidentally kicking her. She allowed me to but had a very difficult time with removing the wax. She shared that there was some wax left, and it'll come off in the shower. Well, there's so much wax left that my butt cheeks are essentially glued together. I'll have to use oil to remove the large chunks of wax. I also question the sanitation aspect because the waxing table only had a very thin strip of paper that didn't cover the whole table. While the team was very nice, I doubt that I will return.

She's also very friendly and kind, she makes what could potentially be a painful and awkward experience as pleasant and painless as possible. When you're getting waxed in an area that's especially painful she'll even do a little countdown from 3 to prepare you, and if you take a sharp breath in as the wax comes off it helps ease the pain a bit. Stella actually convinced me to go from waxing to sugaring and it really does make a difference! The results last longer, the skin is smoother and less irritated, and personally it doesn't hurt quite as bad. The initial application of the sugar tugs at the hair a bit but during the removal it's less painful than wax. The ladies here also recommended exfoliating the skin you're getting waxed prior to your appointment, and then consistently 3 times a week, which helps tremendously if your suffer from ingrown hairs. Definitely make an appointment if you wanna try them out because they can get booked up pretty quickly! And if you go, ask them about their loyalty card! After so many services (worth at least $25 each) you get a free wax. Overall I've never had a bad experience here. The ladies working here are very knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions you have to help make the experience as comfortable as possible.

She shares that the next available appointment is next Friday. I explain that I'm going out of town on Monday so next Friday is not an option for me. She then proceeds to tell me that there's no other availability today and ultimately I'm just out of luck. Now with my vacation just 48 hours away and being it a holiday weekend, I am left high and dry -- thanks a lot Pure Wax. Not to mention, it's practically impossible to even book an appointment with them because of their low staffing numbers. It seems as if the estheticians are never working! And that's when you're looking weeks and months out on their calendar. Long story short, never again will I patronize or recommend Pure Wax.
