We rented a cabana for $50 which is a little pricey but with a group it's not too bad. You do only get one reserved parking spot with that so any extra cars in your group will have to pay the park entrance fee ($20) and then will also have to find parking. There's plenty of parking but our friends had to park a little ways down since all the nearby parking was already taken. Our friends also forgot their life jackets so they had to go to the marina to rent some and it was $20 each. So make sure to bring yours! Definitely would like to come back!

They have some that are pretty much right on the water (and especially on a better water year). They give you one parking spot per cabana rental. They have other spots available that are pretty close too. They have day use sites as well as camp sites. It's so beautiful with the views on the mountains. Water was nice to paddle and swim! I took…read morethe drive early in the morning stopping at a few different places to take more and more pictures. It was beautiful. I passed a stop called the bloods lake hike which I remember reading about as I was planning my trip. So I stopped to take the hike. I thought it was going to be shorter than it was so I left my bag with water, back up charger, etc. Wish I brought it with me. The hike to bloods lake and back from the parking lot took 3.3 miles. It was tough for me because of the inclines and I'm no hiker. I'm from Florida and used to flat land so I don't know if my calves have ever worked so hard. The trail was very populated giving it was a Monday. Many people with dogs. The view once you arrive to the lake is worth the journey! I took a couple photos before my phone died. I then returned to this drive later in the evening to watch the sunset. I stopped at the one of the fist stops called empire pass and it was gorgeous. Same view as the morning but so much prettier with the colors in the sky!

***UPDATED REVIEW = My review is NOT for Guardsman Pass Overlook I did NOT go here. Yelp for some…read morereason attached my review for the Lake Lackawaxen Trail and Lake to Guardsman Pass Overlook. I never even went to the lookout. The trail starts down the street at the parking lot across the street from the new Bloods Lake Trail. Who ever the yelper app people are that did this it's not cool. You don't live here so you don't know the area. Trust that when people add a new "listing" they know what they are talking about! To get to Lake Lackawaxen trail you will need to first hike about 1.8 miles on the Bloods Lake Trail until you get to the lake. (which is a beautiful lake) Continue on the trail, which is clearly marked about a mile more up the trail. This part of the trail is a little more steep, and definitely more rocky but well worth the climb. There is a fork in the road where you can continue to go towards the left or make a right and climb up to Clayton Peak. If you want to go to Lackawaxen stay on the left side of the trail. It takes you past a couple rock scrambles but are easy enough to pass. This lake is very serene, and peaceful not as many people climb up to this lake as the one below. Dogs are allowed on the trail just not near the lake. Please respect the rules and keep your dog from going into the water as this is our watershed. Perfect time of the year to climb to the lake as the leaves are changing colors and the temps are much cooler.

It's well worth the $60/day fee with full hookups. The campsite also has clean fire pits, picnic tables, and a water spout. It's dog friendly and other campers are good about keeping their dogs on a leash. There's a boat ramp and a nice walkway to the "beach." There's a few picnic tables that I saw people enjoying their lunch at. It's fairly quiet and during the day since everyone seems to be on the water. Everyone respects quiet time at 10pm so it was a pleasant experience!

There are lots of pavilions and plenty of bathrooms. I've come here a few times over the years for the 4th of July, and even though it's probably one of the busiest days here, there's always plenty of room on the beach for everyone. The parking lot here is another story. They have extremely limited parking in their main lot, and then some over flow parking across the street. If you're coming on a holiday weekend or probably just a weekend in general, it's important to get here early. We had part of our group get there around 9am and they got one of the last spots in the main spot. We got there around 10:15am and were able to park in the overflow across the street, but once that's full you CANNOT park on the road, you'll get towed or ticketed, as we witnessed happen to many people on the 4th. A little ways up the road there is a pull off to park in, however you have to walk along the highway to get back to the state park. We've done it before, and it's not ideal. There's a gorgeous hike here to Chair Rock - I found a trail guide for the hike from Girl on a Hike's blog and it's a steep but VERY rewarding hike. When I did it a few years ago, no one else was there, and the views are absolutely stunning.

Pinebrook Park is one of those neighborhood parks that always feels welcoming. The large grassy…read morefield is the main attraction, and it's just as popular with dogs as it is with people. On a nice day you'll usually see pups running around together while families spread out across the park. There's plenty to do beyond the open field. The playground is great for kids, with slides, climbing ropes, and other fun features, and there are swings, a full basketball court, and a sand volleyball court nearby. The pavilion with picnic tables and charcoal grills makes it an easy spot to spend an afternoon. This is a pretty fantastic neighborhood park and a great place to relax, let the kids play, or simply enjoy watching happy dogs wear themselves out.

I…read moregrew up in Utah Vivian park is our park but too many people have just ruined the experience. We had a "Karen" who decided to yell at us for temporarily parking closer to the Pavillion to unload some heavy items. We had reserved the Pavillion. We were parked with hazards on for less the 10 minutes. but due to her yelling at us and getting mad because we were ignoring her. So my advice Stay away. Or find a time that's less busy to enjoy the Park. it Would be nice to have Pavillion Parking specifically for those who have reserved a Pavillion for a party. Some people just walked through the Pavillion which that's on them no manners. There was lots of litter. The bathrooms were nasty. Then a HUGE Yellowjacket problem. Swarming the food and around people. There was construction project and piles of dirt were not covered so a wind gust would kick up dirt and roll it through the area. the breeze was nice kept the temp low. but the dust was unpleasant. Vivian Park is a historic place. But due to so much over usage it's losing its charm. We won't be returning and I don't recommend it. Utah do better your Forest and the Charm of the Parks are lost. Not to mention with the amount of people floating down the River your World Famous Fishing.. not the best the River is just too contaminated. You can Do better.

Just beyond beautiful and a fairly easy hike. Some shaded spots for my husband and some full on sun spots for me. A fairly busy trail but not so much that it was hard to enjoy the serenity. Parking does look to be a challenge- we got lucky and someone was leaving so we were able to grab that spot. A place I'd gladly return!

Dogs are NOT permitted 100 feet near the lake due to pathogens. Inflated are prevalent in this area so keep an eye out. We didn't see any today, which I was hoping to do. Lake Lackawxen is only a mile up the trail from Bloods Lake , so we hiked up there as well. Both Lakes are Beautiful especially this time of year. Road closes for tje winter so tje best time to hike this area is from spring to fall. DOG OWNERS please pick up after your dogs and take it out with you. Too many dog bags on the trail today.

It's a shame, since it's on a beautiful patch of land with a great view of the Wasatch Mountains. What a breathtaking, expansive view of the greater Salt Lake valley and the Wasatch Mountains. It has a lot of great walking areas, a unique playground, a reservable pavilion, an a renowned water feature which becomes a kids hotspot come summertime. I highly recommend taking an ambling walk to Quarry Bend Park, lass than a mile from AP. It's a pretty flat walk, no too strenuous, and it will give you an opportunity to experience two of Sandy's fabulous parks. The one minor negative for me is location. The west end of the park skirts the Lowe's and Hobby Lobby on the east end of the Quarry Bend Shopping Center. And, being right off of the hill part of 9400 S, some areas come complete with the whooshing of cars. Overall, a great park ... another feather in Sandy's cap!
