We rented a cabana for $50 which is a little pricey but with a group it's not too bad. You do only get one reserved parking spot with that so any extra cars in your group will have to pay the park entrance fee ($20) and then will also have to find parking. There's plenty of parking but our friends had to park a little ways down since all the nearby parking was already taken. Our friends also forgot their life jackets so they had to go to the marina to rent some and it was $20 each. So make sure to bring yours! Definitely would like to come back!

They have other spots available that are pretty close too. They have day use sites as well as camp sites. It's so beautiful with the views on the mountains. Water was nice to paddle and swim! There's a good sized parking lot with some restrooms (which were unfortunately poorly maintained due to staffing issues-but that's another review). There are a few nice overlook spots along the trail and even a few benches to stop and enjoy the scenery. I noticed that there were many spots in the grassy area that appeared to be burned. As I was wondering aloud what those meant, I came across a sign that explained that they were prescribed burns to prevent the existing trees from choking out. They need space to grow. The water is incredibly clear and the stream has a lovely flow to it. There are some spots that are a little more sparse than others, so it might not be the most magnificent trail you'll find in the mountains, but if it's along your path and you'd like a short walk, it's definitely worth visiting.

It's well worth the $60/day fee with full hookups. The campsite also has clean fire pits, picnic tables, and a water spout. It's dog friendly and other campers are good about keeping their dogs on a leash. There's a boat ramp and a nice walkway to the "beach." There's a few picnic tables that I saw people enjoying their lunch at. It's fairly quiet and during the day since everyone seems to be on the water. Everyone respects quiet time at 10pm so it was a pleasant experience!

There are lots of pavilions and plenty of bathrooms. I've come here a few times over the years for the 4th of July, and even though it's probably one of the busiest days here, there's always plenty of room on the beach for everyone. The parking lot here is another story. They have extremely limited parking in their main lot, and then some over flow parking across the street. If you're coming on a holiday weekend or probably just a weekend in general, it's important to get here early. We had part of our group get there around 9am and they got one of the last spots in the main spot. We got there around 10:15am and were able to park in the overflow across the street, but once that's full you CANNOT park on the road, you'll get towed or ticketed, as we witnessed happen to many people on the 4th. A little ways up the road there is a pull off to park in, however you have to walk along the highway to get back to the state park. We've done it before, and it's not ideal. There's a gorgeous hike here to Chair Rock - I found a trail guide for the hike from Girl on a Hike's blog and it's a steep but VERY rewarding hike. When I did it a few years ago, no one else was there, and the views are absolutely stunning.

There is also a giant tower with some of the biggest slides I've ever seen. The park itself is very large with plenty of grass and room to enjoy pretty much any activity you can think of. They do have what looks like a zip line, but I've never seen it actually being used and I'd actually say that for how awesome the rest of the park is, the actual playground area is a little lacking. That said, if I lived closer, I'd be happy to take my kids here every day

The Crater at Homestead was definitely a unique experience. I was a little terrified at first, but…read moreonce I got into the water, I felt much more comfortable. The life vests are mandatory, which was reassuring knowing we'd be floating the entire time. It's one of those experiences where you just have to go for it and try it at least once. I'm really glad I did--it was definitely worth stepping outside my comfort zone!

The swim/soak for 40 minutes in the natural crater is a 5/5 experience! The cost is $30 per person…read more(a little pricey), and the water temperature is usually high 90s Fahrenheit (cooler than a typical hot tub). Lockers and changing rooms (but not showers or bathrooms) are available for your items after you enter the crater. The online purchase to reserve your spot was easy. You should bring your own towel and lock for a locker. The Homestead facility is currently undergoing construction, so I realize the check in experience may improve later. The signs for parking and check in locations were confusing and/or incorrect, and multiple employees with an H polo didn't help us with finding the lot when we were clearly looping around among construction unsure where to go. I'd recommend to Homestead to remove/cover the arrow sign to the crater on Bluff Rd until that construction is complete. Additionally, I recommend better check-in signage on the beige activities building since this busy country club has many "activities" from tennis to golf that aren't necessarily linked to the crater. Temporary A-frame signs would be sufficient. I felt safe in the crater with the required life vest, and we signed waivers before entering. The view from the top of the crater is lovely if you're willing to climb a few dozen steps.
