BUYER BEWARE-Dishonest and misleading pricing: Saw a truck online through Cars.com for sale listed for $36420. Called to set up an appointment for the following Monday, during this call I confirmed the price of $36420. I received 4 follow up calls over the weekend about my appointment, which I confirmed and again asked if the price was still $36420, again confirmed by the person on the phone. I drove over 2 hours to look at the truck, took it for a test drive even though the salesperson said there was another salesperson working a deal on it, but I was told not to worry about that as the salesperson we were working with was more senior and he would get us in the truck. We started to work numbers, and the salesperson came back and I saw he listed the price at $39420 and gave us a payment based on that number. $3000 over the listed price on two websites, when I informed the salesperson he said, oh maybe a presidents day sales number. He went back to the sales manager and came back with a different payment, but said the price was $39420 because when they put a car price online, they assume all buyers will put $3000 down. I said it doesn't say that under the price, and he stated I had to look at the disclosures to see that. I mentioned it didn't say it on the other site, and this was deceptive behavior and they should honor the price we were quoted over the phone and online. they said no and we left. As we left, I stopped at the sales managers desk and stated that what they were doing was unfair and deceptive behavior as well as very misleading to consumers. RUN!!! Most dishonest , unprofessional dealership. 04/2/26 to purchase advertised car, conveniently it was sold. They stated they had another one at other dealership. I went there to complete paperwork following day, they could not locate the vehicle, apparently employee had it. This turned into a 4hr process as you need to go to other location for paperwork. When we returned, I received the car fuel light on, shavings everywhere. I called Trever the GM next am as well as told him after reviewing the paperwork (I know I should of read everything , I was exhausted an needed to return to work, I just assumed the price we agreed on was correct as the dollar amount month payment was the same) they up charged me thousands (tacked on 4800 warrantee without telling me an upcharge car thankfully they were dumb enough to leave it up on line so I had proof as I was called a liar) as well as the person put in an additional 3000 miles ( this is a felony to sell a car false odometer) . Manager Conner LaPointe gave me a car detail and promised all new warranty reflecting actual milage...still waiting!! as well as waiting for the registration (suppose to be with in 10days) to be completed, I got pulled over as car is not inspected and time ran out transfer plates. If I could give give less than one star I would. I went into Empire on Superbowl Sunday, I had bought a vehicle from this dealership a few years back and had a decent experience. I got there at opening and was immediately shuffled between salesmen. I test drove a few vehicles and decided to buy my wife a vehicle, an SUV. I told my salesman I had a pre-approval, from USAA. I was eventually talked into seeking "a better rate". I was asked to come back on Monday, I was assured that a better rate could be sought on a Monday when banks are open. A better rate on Monday was a few points higher, a monthly payment of 80 dollars more than what was quoted 24hrs earlier, and 10 HARD INQUIRIES on my credit report. This has caused my vehicle search to cease. I have waited a few months to send this review with hopes that empire would make it right. Sadly they have not. Not a good business. read more

I'll start off by saying I am a veteran sales manager for a subprime auto finance company, so my entire job is talking to dealers all day and helping them sell cars. You cant get over on me. Ive seen it all. This is my business. I have epileptic dogs so I don't leave the house very often. I wfh. I called and assured this "pay off your trade in full" promo was valid, that they indeed had the car I needed, I put a deposit on the Ford Explorer and confirmed my appt. I show up today after a 2 hr drive to purchase a 2015 Ford Explorer base model with 80k miles. I went through all of this because I have an RV sitting in my driveway and I don't have an SUV that is able to tow it. They had what I needed. The price on the website is $17,994. (I have uploaded photos of everything I'm saying). When I arrived (with my little dogs), they had me do the test drive and when we came back to the office, he said the price was $20,994. I referred back to the website on my phone and showed him where it said $17,994. His response was "oh we account for $3000 cash or trade" Huh? I asked what he meant by that and he stated that the "price on the website is assuming you give $3000 down in cash or trade." I told him that was false advertising and verging on fraud. He showed me that, at the very bottom of the website, in the **fine** print, it says that they do this. Grr, but Ok. Like anybody, sigh, I've come this far and the promo makes them trying to get over almost worth it, right? WRONG. So I offered $18,500 because there's no way that this former rental car is worth 21,000. So I asked him to take my offer of 18.5 to his manager. I was met with a firm no. $21000 or bust. I then asked how much they would give me for my trade-in considering they offered to pay off the entire thing, and then some (per promo listing) some of that would go towards positive equity and a down payment. Their website confirmed a KBB value yesterday of $19,000. I only owed $16000. He went away for about 10 minutes, came back and said they were offering me $13,000. And I laughed because it was the only thing I could do that wouldn't end up with me having to speak to the police. What a collassal waste of my time and intelligence. Total scam artists. We had not finalized any terms on a technical but ran my credit card for the down payment for the vehicle and when we did not come anywhere nearer the numbers I stated from the beginning the GM became irate and when I asked for my refund as they ran my card for no reason he smacked my arm that had the receipt that I said I wanted refunded they proceeded to swear and yell while walking away. Zero Stars!!! My fiancé and I walked into the dealership ready to purchase a car and trade mine in. We met with who we thought was a good salesperson but proved wrong. The salesperson sat us down and we spent 3 hours filling out paperwork because he was helping other people as well. We got the insurance and all the ducks in a row and even took it for a test drive! All ready to take the car home the same day. As we waited for the final steps in our purchase, we were informed that the paperwork will be completed tomorrow and we will get a call first thing in the morning. Went home and did all the preparation of emptying my old car and canceling the registration. The next morning never got a call...it took 3 phone calls and 3 hours of waiting around with no answer because our salesman had the day off. Finally,after getting the runaround, our salesman called to inform us that we will not receive our car until we get a cosigner. As a result we had to cancel our insurance. I was baffled because as a woman I purchased my first car on my own, and did not need a cosigner with bad credit. I walked out of the dealership with my first car three years ago with no issues like this. It's disgusting how they use people and lie to them especially since a car is necessary these days. I am an independent contractor and I need my car for my business which is my bread-and-butter. This was complete bullshit and I'm sorry to say they make me sick and they should close down their business I even emailed the salesperson but he wasn't man enough to respond . BY FAR THE WORST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Picked up my car (a day later than promised) only to have it die on the highway the next morning on my way to work. The "highly trained" mechanic that did the SAFETY check on the fluids didn't know how to put a radiator cap on and antifreeze exploded all over my engine. Then, they let my temp plate run out. I couldn't get in touch with a single soul at the dealership the day it expired..... again, had to lose time out of work. They took almost $3000 to register my car and couldn't get it done in 20 days. Had to beg for a second set of temp plates. Parris, the salesman is impossible to get ahold of and as lazy as it gets. The WORST experience I've ever experienced in my life trying to purchase a vehicle. Drove an hour to see a vehicle posted online. Test drove. Made negotiations. Came to a deal. Signed initial paperwork. Sounds good right? WRONG! As I'm about to leave, sales manager Mark tells me they cannot process the deal as promised. Then gives me run around to ultimately come to tell me the car was sold yesterday?!? How does that happen?? I had contacted this Dealer multiple times about a 2018 Ford F-150 XLT King Ranch, multiple people I spoke to said it was available! They have about 2-3 different spots and Auctions. 2 people said it was not available and 3 people said it was. I had called on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Sunday was the day I went to go check it out. Right before I went I had called to make sure it was there and they said it was. Yesterday I bought a 2021 Hyundai from empire and I'm still reeling from what a wonderful experience I had. Mike was TERRIFIC and his boss Nelson was right there laughing with us the whole time. I was there almost 4 hours and we were having such a great time, I didn't even realize it as time flew by. What I liked best about Mike is that he was patient, friendly, informative, yet honest- if he wasn't positive about something with the car I liked, he did the research for me and got the answers I needed. I could tell that Mike really enjoyed his job. No pressure at all to buy, yet I did anyway bc I found the perfect car for me and the experience was so fantastic. Bait and switch. We called ahead and verified a specific car with a specific price was on the lot: When we arrive, the car "is at our other dealer." We grit it out and discover the advertised cost is AFTER a $3000 down payment. So the cost of the car is $3000 more than advertised. When we show them the advertisement on TrueCar.com saying that the price on the website is the price to be sold, about 4 different people get involved trying to give us a reason they cannot honor the price. "This is how all dealers work." Let me tell you, this is our 6th dealer looking for this kind of car, none of the others practice this way. When we say we will be reporting them for false advertising, they continue to search for fine print language to prove they listed the fees. Mysteriously, the TrueCar.com listing disappeared during this exchange - in other words, they took it down. They then start calling $1900 a "destination fee" while they brainstorm other fees to asses. Remarkably, they had previously said the additional cost was sticker price. Liars. My advice? Find another dealer. We'll be reporting this one EVERYWHERE. Edit:. I went to report them to the Better Business Bureau. They had their accreditation revoked due to the seriousness of complaints. Empire holds a grade F. The State Attorney General Office also lists numerous complaints against this business (Empire Auto Group). Looking at the complaints, we dodged a bullet. What a nightmare! First, I already wrote a check for a deposit, went through the loan process, etc.. then was told they needed another check for temp. plates. I was thinking, 'Are you serious?!' They were. Fine. I went back, don't remember exactly what for, but was told just keep your registration (meaning my old one) in the car and proof of insurance. I said, you have my registration. He said he didn't. I said your guy took my registration and I never saw it again! He starts digging through paperwork. He's running all around trying to find it. It's gone, he says, no big deal, just $25. Ummm... yeah, I'm not paying that, you all lost my registration, not me!! He says, oh no, I'll pay it. I just need to take your car to get a VIN check. Fine. Next he's suppose to call me on Sat. when he has a runner to take my car. I wait and wait and wait, finally text him. No runner yet. Fine. I wait and wait and wait, he never did call, or text. Finally, Monday I get a call, he wants the runner to take the car early in the day so as not to inconvenience me. Fine. I'm at work, I get out at 5:00, 4:00 I finally get a message, his runner is on the way. Okay.. umm.. but, I tell the runner, you will never get to Little Compton from Middletown and back by 5:00!? Oh no, he says he's taking it to the Middletown Police Department. Okay. Well, I get a call, they aren't doing VIN checks today, (they didn't bother to find out beforehand) I have to take it somewhere else. I said, where? He says, somewhere local... (I bet you guessed...). Yep, finely at 6:20 he pulls up in front of my job, he took the car to Little Compton!!! I was livid. Then I'm looking at my car one day and realize, the loose piece of trim I noticed that they were going to 'take care of' on my passenger door, was completely gone!!! Like, pulled off!!! Not re-glued or cemented, or whatever they do to trim to keep it on the car, but MIA! Kind of like how they were going to clean the inside of the car, the stains on the seat and such, they're all still there! (They did the absolute minimal cleaning in the car. I found between the seat something that looks like sawdust on vomit.) So after a few weeks, I text them and say, umm.. do you have a registration for me yet? I get two urgent messages out telling me I have to get there as soon as I possibly can!!! I go after work. So the guy brings my plate. I realize as he's pulling it out of the envelope it's not my old plate number! The number that I've had since I started driving!! I lost it!!! I was not kind, or lady like in any way, I was done and flipped my sh*t on this guy! Oh if you really want your old registration all you have to do... NO! Why should I have to do anything! You lost my registration.. which he kept saying, I didn't loose it.. Well you asked the guy to help and he lost it. But it would cost $70. ... AND, SO.. Well if you really want it just go to the registry.. Why should I have to now use more of my time standing at the registry trying to fix a problem you all created!!!! Even thinking about this makes my blood boil!!!! He kept saying but I paid for this out of my pocket, and every time he said it I got angrier! That's not my problem! I finally said, FINE, just put it on the car! And he kind of threw my registration on a chair, (which kind of can't blame him) and went out and put the plates on my car. When he came back, I apologized for some of my language. I mentioned the trim that he said would be fixed. He said he would talk to someone about it and get back to me... I've heard nothing more from him. I, thankfully, read my registration paperwork, because apparently if I didn't get an emissions test within a month my registration would have been revoked! (He didn't bother to tell me that.. ). Another $55. out of my pocket! I've written to their site twice and have heard nothing, except their auto email response. do not buy a car from these folks. talk about bait and switch. i e-mailed kendra at empire and asked about vehicle. she told me the price 26,XXX, i asked what the out the door price, she said that she couldn't give that to me unless i came in. i asked if i came in today, pay the listed price, what else would i have to pay other than tax and registration. she said a 3 or 500 dollar dealer processing fee. i said great, so that is my out the door price, no other fees. she said correct. i was set to make the TWO hour drive there. i was satisfied with the listed price. i decided to do a list minute reddit/yelp review and i noticed a person below complaining about the 3k deposit fee. i copied this link to kendra, and asked her if there are any other hidden fees. she responded "It's not hidden fees. I advise anyone who is looking to come here to just turn around and head over to the dealer down the road. My husband and I spent FOUR hours here on a Friday evening we dealt with 3 different people, we were already pre-approved by our own bank yet they were trying to persuade us to go with their banks because we'd get a lower rate (which was bogus!) the salesman we had new nothing about the make of car we wanted to purchase, pretty sure your sales people should be knowledgeable on what you're trying to sell. It was nothing but a hassle from the moment we walked in on 1/4 until the day I received my registration via mail which was 1/15!!! It took 11 days to get it in my hands when your vehicle is supposed to be registered within 7 days of purchase, why you may ask? They kept faxing the incorrect information over to my insurance company, yet they would call me and say it was done but the insurance hasn't sent anything back to them. So I had to get on the phone with my insurance and handle it myself. I was told there's three lovely women who handle registration yet every time I called to speak to someone (which was about 8 times) I NEVER EVER even spoke to a woman! When you call and ask a question your put on hold for 13 minutes because they can't seem to grasp what I'm talking about as if the questions I'm asking are unrelated to their job! The ONLY person who was kind to me during this whole DAMN process was Sadie. I will never return to purchase a second vehicle nor will I EVER recommend this place or it's entities to any of my family or friends, I would never want anyone to go through what I went through. read more

My son just purchased a car from Empire. The biggest complaint is the $3000 difference in price. On the very last line of a disclaimer is the information that the price of the car is $3000 down or a trade. I brought it to the attention of the salesperson who replied that they knew people didn't read the huge paragraph and that people were surprised all the time. This is very deceptive and Empire should put the actual price of the car on their website. They also charged for a temporary plate, most dealerships include that as a delivery expense for their customers. We also had to go from one dealership in Swansea to one in Fall River - at rush hour - this wasn't disclosed until we arrived to sign our paperwork at the facility we purchased the car from. If we had known that we had to go to Fall River we could have driven there directly and saved ourselves a wasted hour. There was just so much inconvenience involved with this purchase, now we are just waiting for the new plates and registration!! We have our fingers crossed it won't take forever!! read more

This is such a horrible dealership! ! We went to get a gift we had "won" and we went into it knowing we didn't have a lot of money to put down or monthly and we were VERY transparent about that! We wat we "won" was supposed to be at least a 100 dollar gift card, a tv, a Apple Watch! And other things! It ending up being "gift cards" to places that don't have anything necessary/ very expensive older things.. I call them coupons cuz all of them u had to spend like 50 dollars more than the gift card so that was shitty! ! not only that but we spent I think at least 7-8 hours at this dealership with them "trying to get us financed" it took forever! ! And when they finally came and told us we got u the financed we were excited because we had to have a particular car because size issues and they knew we couldn't spend more than so much monthly! Hours later we get into the finance office and are told that our monthly payment was 150 dollars more a month than we could do! We had spent so much time it was too late to say no because we needed a car and we were told we could refinance after 6 months after on time payments which wouldn't be for another couple months! So we'll see if that actually works out! ! But now we are dealing with the car not being able to be driven! It's running on the battery right now apparently but it isn't covered under the warranty we were forced to buy! They aren't doing anything to help even though we bought this car 4 months ago! ! Honestly if I can give this dealership 0 stars I would. The sellers are absolutely unreliable. They will constantly tell you a certain price and add additional fees, very untrustworthy! If you do attend this dealership pay attention to exactly what they say, have it in writing if you could because they will continuously trick you. read more

I would not recommend this dealership to anyone less you absolutely love having your time wasted. I was accompanying a friend there this past weekend while she shopped for a car she had seen advertised online. The rookie salesman should have been our first red flag but we overlooked it as he was very accommodating and had the answers to most of our questions. The test drive was great, the car a little beat up, but my friend didn't mind as long as they took some money off. They were pushy to run her credit, pushy to have her close on the car immediately, and wouldn't go through the cost breakdown with us which is when I realized this place was a mess. The monthly payments for the car she had seen were WELL above what I pay monthly for a brand new 2019 Hyundai ..it didn't make sense until they revealed the actually sticker price was $3,000 more than advertised. I understand that as a business you need to get people coming in the door but they're playing games and it's not worth the time wasted. There are a number of other GREAT dealerships in the area. I gave this dealer one star only because there is not an option for zero stars. I regretfully bought a car there over 30 days ago and I have yet to receive the car registration, second set of keys and a check for a car detail they promised since the car wasn't detailed before pick up. The car I traded in has also not been paid off yet!! I have been calling this dealership for weeks trying to get answers and not only does no one get back to me, the few people that I have spoken to are extremely unprofessional and not helpful. I was told I don't have the right to be given the information stating MY loan was paid off yet I legally do according to my bank and now the payment is late because they have taken over 30 days to pay it off as agreed upon at closing. I have numberous texts from both my salesman and the general manager showing their complete lack of professionalism and respect for their customer. Not only will I never do business with this company again but if I could return the car I bought from them and never deal with them again, I would have done that weeks ago. read more

I would never recommend this place to anyone. This place is a joke!! My boyfriend and I bought a car there over 2 months ago, and we have not received the registration from them yet. Every time we call them to see what is going on, they tell us yes we will take care of it tomorrow. This has been going on for over 2 months. A couple of weeks ago they told us that the registration was in the mail and we will receive it soon. ALL LIES!!! I have a friend who works as a registration clerk at a different dealership ( a good one) and she ran our plates to see if the car had been indeed registered. It has not been registered, the plates still show the info for the old car that we traded in. Because of the fact that we have not received our registration we have not been able to get an inspection sticker. We can get pulled over at any given time for this reason and because we don't have our registration yet, they will tow our car. And who do you think will get screwed over in paying for that. They also agreed to pay off the car we traded in to which they also haven't done. Its been 2 months and this is bringing down our credit score. This place has complete lack of consideration for their customers. They also have people working there who tried to scam us into sending them a check for an extra $600 after our deal had already been closed...FOR WHAT?!?! Not only would i never again do business with these people, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy in the world!! read more
