Really bad customer service. Salesman David Schmieder is your classic used car saleman. Came over, everything was wonderful, need anything he's always around and will stay with me the entire process. Day of install, wrong carpet was delivered, David would not answer texts, calls or voicemails. The install manager "John" who refused to give his last name, didn't want lift a finger to help. Said, sorry thats what it is. Had to cancel everything which the corp customer service made it seem like this happens all the time. David finally sent me a text back after I said I will be leaving bad reviews, made some poor excuses and still took zero action. This is a bad place to do business. They will make you feel like you are their top priority and then after the contract is signed, they are gone. They are liars, and the cliche used car saleman. Came out to house did measurements, all good with that. The amount of product they have is lacking. Got a price from them, then went to home Depot and got a better price with a better product. I provided top dollar to this company and they charge my credit card right away. Then when they're supposed to install the flooring, they canceled that it would be a week later. I had movers and cleaning companies and everything pending on this installation. So what they did and said oh we can just refund your money 7 to 10 business days. So they're are collecting interest on money and also charge us a 4% fee for using a credit card in the first place which they are not refunding even though they canceled ridiculous company. I would rate 0 stars if I could! They did an atrocious job installing the carpet. It was so bunched up that I had to hire someone else to come stretch it. The laminate they put down just a few years ago is already peeling up in numerous places. The trim around the laminate is broken and has been for easily 2 years. There are exposed nails around the trim. For the cost of this flooring, this should not be happening! This was going fine till he started on his iPad entering information on what I thought was about my vinyl flooring he then asked me to sign(which I did)then shortly left. Come to find out it was my contract sent in my e-mail. When I opened it I found out G had indicated I was okay with the emailed contract which I was not. Under the estimated installation time he put within 30 days and finally there was no original price then the 75% price. Had problems from day 1. About a week after installation I noticed it felt like there was some tile still under my kitchen floor. you could feel the lump. I called Empire and they told me it would cost $100 for them just to come out. needless to say the floor board started to crack. Fast forward to a few years later. the crack turned into chipping and peeling. I called customer service and they told me there was nothing they could do because my flooring type was discontinued. I was told I had a lifetime warranty on the floors. I have emailed and called and no one is taking responsibility! Don't use this company unless you want to be disappointed. read more

I noticed my luxury vinyl planks are separating and chipping. A contractor neighbor came over and put a large level down. Where my floors are separating/chipping, there is an uneven "dip" in the concrete floor. In a previous review, I indicated the installers brought 3 containers of leveling cement but did not use it. Empire floors are coming out for a "moisture test". I believe the floors need to be leveled and a moisture barrier installed or this is going to continue and get worse. Installation workers failed to install it correctly. The Allure carpet doesn't wear well in heavy trafficking areas but even with a 10 year warranty I would need to pay for a new carpet myself. No one bothered to tell me about these conditions. Very Unhappy with entire project from Day 1 .. we were told to contact Lou pittsburgh boss..he acted like he wanted to help at first but later no return calls. He had installers starting our restaurant two times after 8 pm @ night , the 3r time we told told him we refuse because installers are coming tired and over worked..He lied and said we were first on schedule but installers told us different..None of the carpet squares line up ..2 damaged walls when pulled off cove base that had to be patched..and after they finished 2 or more squares are lifting already..going with Empire was such a mistake from day one .. now we see how they can beat other pricing because of how this place conducts business.. we have had other people laugh when they see this restaurant floor..and asked who did this work!!?? we have requests to talk to the higher people in charge to see what can be done .. we will see if we are ignored like we have been..we will not let this go because no one should have to go through what we did.. it is ahame they are in business.. if issues aren't addressed we will try BBB next read more

I'm sure many people have used Empire Today for floors. In a word: DON'T. Just for background, we are having the LVP floors Empire installed in November 2024 completely ripped out and redone correctly today. The new company, National Floors Direct, is putting down a layer of some sort of cement/leveling material to even out the tile so we won't have the uneven and bouncy floors that we have complained about to Empire 3 times now. To have Empire reply to us with "it was installed within specifications" is unfathomnable, especially seeing how this new floor from another company is laying perfectly. They even sent out a "manager" who hinted that we were somehow at fault for using water to mop it. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement, and coupled with the fact that the company basically brushed off an unhappy/unsatisfied customer is extraordinary (not in a good way). And to think I wasted over $8000 on these floors..... well chalk it up to lesson learned because I doubt this company really cares that much about an amount so minuscule. I will be posting my reviews, of course, in hopes I can save someone else the time and money on shoddy products and installation. I'll post the new floors once they are completely in, but the small part that they've completed is already 100% better and higher quality product. Empire scheduled an appointment for March 1st, 2025 between 1 and 3 PM. I physically drove to one of our sites to meet their sales person. 3:10 I call to see where the rep was. They could not reach him and left the rep a message to call me. No call back so I called to speak to a manager and find out why this happened. I was told I would receive a call back from a manager within 24 hours. That was Saturday March 1st. On Monday March 3rd, I called again to find out what happened. They checked the system, found my request for a manager call back and told me a new appointment was scheduled for March 10th. That was news to me! I asked again for a manager call. Again told 24 hours. Today is March 5th, no call. As a business owner, this is unacceptable. If I treated my new customers like this, I would not be in business very long. I guess their marketing is generating more business than they can keep up with. Good for them but they lost me and 25 of my locations. read more

We purchased our LVP flooring from Empire in 2020. We were in love with it! We had a great experience with them and the installation crew was great. They were efficient, friendly, polite, moved furniture and appliances as they needed in order to do the job. We couldn't complain about anything until ...... In early 2025 we noticed our floors in our kitchen began to ripple and almost buckle a bit. We tried reaching out to Empire and they wanted photos. Photos were sent but we didn't get any results. After some calls and still no response, we were frustrated and the floor seemed to be getting worse. I decided to get an area rug in hopes to one, protect it and two, hide it. I wasn't sure what to do to be honest. Eventually, May of this year (2026) Empire sent a representative who inspected our floors, took pictures, talked and submitted his report to whoever. Well, the results are in. They are NOT going to replace our floor in our kitchen area! It is not an installation defect or a manufacturer's defect. It's OUR fault because we had a kitchen table in the kitchen!!!! But.....the area that is a problem, isn't even where the table sits. No moisture, no damages, no anything, that's their reason. So then, should we not have heavy stoves or refrigerators or ANYTHING on these floors? SERIOUSLY!!!! They're ridiculous and NEVER will I recommend this company to anyone. We now have to find a another company to replace our kitchen floor and hope they can match the rest of our living space. Thank you Empire, NOT! read more

Extremely Disappointed - Poor Quality and Service from Empire Flooring I purchased luxury vinyl plank (LVP) flooring from Empire Flooring for my entire first floor, along with their service plan that was supposed to cover issues like peeling, warping, and plank movement. Less than three years later, my floors are already showing serious signs of wear--peeling, warping, and shifting planks that make my home look neglected and embarrassing. When I tried to file a claim under the service plan, I was shocked to be denied--despite the fact that the issues are exactly what the plan is supposed to cover. The customer service was unhelpful and dismissive, and I've been left with damaged floors and no support. This has been a deeply disappointing experience. The level of disruption and lack of care in my home was unacceptable for a professional installation. Throughout this process, I have repeatedly attempted to work with the company to resolve the problems. I have kept detailed documentation, including emails and conversations, outlining what I was promised versus what occurred. Despite this, I have encountered repeated delays, shifting explanations, and responses that did not address the issues at hand. At times, my concerns were dismissed or contradicted in ways that were especially frustrating given the written record I have provided. After eight months, excessive stress, and extensive follow‑up on my part, my project is still not finished. Based on everything I have been through, I cannot in good conscience recommend this company. The lack of follow‑through, poor communication, and the difficulty in getting basic accountability made this one of the most exhausting home‑improvement experiences I've ever had. This is a terrible company. They installed a carpet that didn't match the sample and refuse to make it right. I purchased the protection plan for $700. My dogs vomited on my carpet, so I submitted a claim. It was approved, which means that Empire will mail me a product to clean my carpet with. That was 10 days ago, and I still haven't received any cleaner. Of course I have already cleaned the stains to the best of my ability with a cleaner that I purchased myself. Letting a stain set for over 10 days is a ridiculous practice. And what is the point of a protection plan if I have to clean it myself? I asked for the email of the CEO and was told that they are not allowed to give out that information. They are a dishonest company with terrible customer service. read more

The installation went well and the installers were professional and the floor looks great. NO! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! If I could make suggestion, to any one person, it would be to do yourself a favor and DO NOT go with Empire Today LLC. We had a carpet installed on September 12th, 2025. Upon completion we discovered the amount of corners the installer took on our carpet job. All we want is for our carpet to be fixed the right way and to move on, but this has been a complete NIGHTMARE for our family! For starters, they felt the old and rotted 23 year old tack strip would be acceptable. This is a standard practice, to reuse, but only if the material is in good standing. Ours is not. The carpet was not stretched right and comes up in every single corner of our basement, every landing and even in the middle of our floors. We also have a massive safety hazard, as we have two young kids and we can feel the tacks poking through on the steps, and other areas of our brand new rug!! The first installer told us the carpet was 'thin'. We have been advised this was a "high priority to fix" and that someone would be right out. It has been 17 days, countless conversations and absolutely nothing has been rectified. We are not able to use a whole entire floor of our house (basement) because we do not want our kids to get injured. Mike Wheat is the Sales Manager and Kevin Raudenbush is the sales rep who sold the job. Do not do business with them! I have made multiple attempts to reach out to them. Kevin lives 15 mins away from me and has not as much as even made an attempt to put his own eyes on this, nor have they assisted us with resolving this. In fact, Kevin has blocked my number and they have both disregarded contact back to us. Instead, my wife and I have been calling the 800 number nonstop, to try to resolve this. We were placed into a connection with an install manager, Charles Ogunwuyi; this is who Mike Wheat said was to fix this situation. I asked Charles about how we can rectify this; we asked for a manager to come out, validate it was done poorly and to please fix it how we want. I asked Charles if maybe replacing the 'thin' rug, possibly giving us some money back, or if there was something better they could give us considering the unsatisfactory job that was completed and safety hazard of our situation. He has done nothing but try to up-charge us for an amount of $433 and $675.. More up-charges for continued inconveniences; it makes zero sense to my wife and I, especially within a business setting. That is just poor ethics and not how you treat costumers. Charles told me there was only 2 managers in the area, there was no availability for a manager to come out and that he would send another subcontractor out to inspect the job. This is crazy to us considering there is a SAFETY HAZARD with our job. It is astounding Empire would not send a manager out for this job as a protocol. Anyway, subcontractor, Edwin came out last week and we discussed what needs to be done. We shook hands and he was to come back out to make the proper repairs. He was supposed to come out this last Saturday 9/27, but he was told by Empire to just re-stretch the rug. Nothing about fixing our stairs, the rug pad on the steps, new tack strips, nothing we had discussed so I told him not to waste his time. I called the 800 number again and another install manager, Sean, told me there was a note in my account that a manager had came out... which is completely untrue. We are not just making stuff up! Charles sent yet another sub out to inspect the job, Edwin validated what needed to be done and then Empire gave him a different directive which is just unbelievable to us. All we want is this rug to be fixed the right way. The fact they have let this safety hazard go on this long, on top of how they have treated us is so unprofessional. We also canceled our whole entire contract policy, within the legal threshold dates presented to us and it has been completely ignored. We sent the E-delivery in on 9/15 and the mail delivery date of 9/17. Both have been ignored completely. They have tried to tell us the job was completed, but there is verbiage in the contract that says you can offer the goods back to the seller. All we want is the carpet fixed, but considering this is how we are being treated we would love nothing more than to give them this carpet back and go elsewhere. I'm adding this review regarding Empire Today. This company came in and laid carpeting in our new home. The contractors scraped a drain cap and left a hole covering in our basement they did not inform us what they did and covered it up, because of that error we had serious water damage and a significant loss of furniture and personal items. We spoke to them they promise because of human error that they would replace what was done. After many phone calls and no return calls Empire Today did not keep their promise and did not abide by the warranty that we had. They disappeared, our insurance company State Farm determined that it was Empire's fault. State Farm now has a a claim against them. And we have seeked legal advice. Long story short all we want it was for them to keep their word. And we wouldn't be here now and I would not be doing a very negative review. read more

Empire Does Not Offer A Full Refund. After a very short period of time it is not refundable. There answering service is just to ready to state that. We were remodeling a home we just purchased. Getting prices from contractors for upgrades. Kitchen countertops, redo the whole bathroom and install a new 1/2 bath. The kitchen countertops contractors didn't do flooring. The bathroom contractor was very expensive for the flooring. We had a couple local flooring contractors out for quotes. They suggested new flooring Through out the house hallway and the kitchen foe esthetic reasons. They each took a couple days to send us quotes. Two we liked but they didn't want a deposit until we were ready to have the floor installed. We also called Empire. Their sales pitch was to fast. Sign today give us a deposit and get all these discounts. Deposit is fully refundable. ( a very short window ) It was a good price. The problem arose with quick scheduling. They scheduled the install for the next week. We had told the salesman about the whole remodel and wanted the flooring done last. We were told rescheduling wasn't a problem. We could keep rescheduling until the other remodeling was ready for flooring. We rescheduled a couple times. Then the time came for the floor instal. They were short product and wanted to do a partial install. We rescheduled until they would have the full order. Then we decided to go with another type of flooring. Empire didn't offer it without an increase in cost. The deposit was not refundable because of their contract's short window for refunds. I used Empire on 2 separate occasions. The first time I had carpets installed in a few bedrooms , the second time I had them come back and install a rug in my family room, just after the installation I noticed something that looked like 2 long seams down the center of my rug. I did not want to make a huge deal of it and decided I could live with it although I was not entirely happy. About 2 mos after the rug was installed I noticed some fraying of the carpet in the center of the room ( in the vicinity of the seams) When i brushed the fraying carpet away there was a perfectly round hole in the rug about an inch in size. I called them right away and made a claim. The gentleman that came out took a look and said he thought it was a defect in the carpet and he would take pictures and let Empire know. I received a call a few days later saying they would not fix it because the damage was caused by a pet. This is ridiculous, I have an older dog that barely moves and would not dig a perfectly round hole in the center of my rug. I asked them if they had a camera in my house to witness this happening!?!? I assume they think my dog made the 2 perfectly lined seams also! After much arguing I got absolutely nowhere and realized that there was never ever an intention of fixing anything. I would rather walk on cement than have another rug installed by them. Mike was the person in charge of the Philadelphia installations and he is rude and does not want to be bothered with doing his job. Never ever use them! read more

It took them three separate times before they actually finally showed up and even install the floor I strongly suggest you never allow this company into your home. It's one of my biggest regrets first time homebuyer and I do now know that my floors will have to be redone already. Thresholds are lifting up and falling apart. Worst Flooring Company ever. I had Empire Today install floors and rugs in my living room and dining room. I had to contact them in a few months regarding the rug in my dining room as the rug was shredding. When Vacuuming my rug initially, I noticed this. The rug ended up needing to be repaired. This was within three months. They came to the house to repair the rug. They noticed I had a dog and tried to blame this on them. Although I paid top price for the rug the rug is so cheap. They did repair it but same problem occurred later in different spots of the rug. Again, the quality of this rug is so cheap, I understand why they were giving it away however, it was not a cheap price. The biggest problem I have is with the hardwood floor (and not happy with the rug either) I paid $4,000.00 to have this floor leveled and then put the hardwood floor down. Shortly, I noticed the boards were pulling apart causing a gap in the boards. I contacted them numerous times. They did send me a email site to send photos which I did and nothing happened. I literally contacted them in early 2023 about the problem with the hardwood floor. I finally got a call from Liam Davis at Empire today. She called with a Bad Attitude. It is clear they don't like handling disputes. I will tell you when you hire someone for floors, Do not hire this company. They are horrible and the quality of work is horrible. Best to contact a Better Flooring Company and get Quality Work Done. Finally, I had a hardwood floor put down in my kitchen around the same time. I offered Liam Davis at Empire Today, if I could send her photos of my kitchen hardwood floor and she Freaked Out, MAD! I only paid $1700.00 for that floor and I paid $4,000.00 to Empire today FOR NOTHING! The Kitchen floor which I paid only $1700.00 is Beautiful! Don't let what happened to me happen to you. I had to learn how to install vinyl flooring to make sure they installed it correctly because they fought me every step of the way. Told me they couldn't do my stairs and didn't want to continue the floors into other rooms without a transition strip. They ended up doing what I wanted but only after we demanded we do what we paid them for. Sales guy never called us back after initial quote. The floors are nice after all said and done but it wasn't worth all the hassle and there are imperfections but I don't want these people in my house anymore so I'm not calling to come fix it. Very happy with their service and pricing. My friend's dog tore hole in my basement carpeting (home in Lake Ariel, PA) so I decided, after 10+ years, to replace the flooring with a combo of carpet and LVP in the more highly trafficked areas. I got three local estimates and Empire was the lowest (although their selection is more limited). The salesmen are very polite and easy to work with, although they have that slight 'used-car salesman' vibe and claim to offer discounts that might 'expire' if you don't book right away (which is of course not true). I weighed all my options for about a week before committing. The installers were professional, courteous and extremely clean. They said I had to level the flooring for proper installation, so there was an additional $250 charge at the last minute, and it added about 2 hours to the install (which was totally fine). I noticed a small problem with some trim after the installers left, but I contacted Empire and they promptly came back and made the repair without any real issues. Overall very happy with the work. My basement looks fantastic, I feel I got good value and I would definitely recommend Empire. read more

As people would say, if I could leave zero stars, I would. Salesman came and quoted a job for carpet replacement in living room and kitchen floor replacement. Nice enough guy, but ghosted me when things got complicated, never returning multiple calls. First appointment was for the carpet. Day of install came and prepared the room (not an easy task) and installer mentioned there might be asbestos in the vinyl flooring base, wanted us to get a sample evaluate. Fair enough, at my own expense had the sample evaluated and had .02% asbestos on tile. Contacted the installer and he said, that's fine we can just go over the existing padding and rescheduled. 2nd attempt, 3rd party contractor rolls up in a van straight out of Fast Times At Ridgemount High, speaks very little english and his helper....zero. Immediately points out the same thing the original installer did. We have covered this topic and all they need to do is use the existing padding or go over it as approved by the original installer. He calls "the office" and they instruct him he can't continue. At this point in time, I am done with this and tell the rep to cancel the order, I probably wasn't very nice, but I'm blown away at how poor this company is at....well everything. The comedy ensues when I ask my wife to call and cancel the kitchen floor appointment because the rep attempts to explain to her how we can resolve the existing issue. Nah, I'm good. Empire installed flooring and carpet throughout my house did a very good job at installing, but the problem is the carpet in the one bedroom has a very strong odor. I call the company and they sent out an installer who spoke very little English.After running his hand over the carpet and smelling his hand he said he didn't smell anything , but he did find a dog hair and left and told me someone will get back to me. A couple of days later a manager call my wife and told her that it was the dog. after my wife explained to him the dog doesn't sleep in the room, he agreed to send out a manager. A couple of days later a manager came out and did ph reading and took samples, but when asked if he could smell anything he wouldn't answer and said someone would call us . A couple of days latter we got a phone call and was told there nothing wrong and no smell. He recommended we go to web site and read how to clean carpet or have it professionally clean, remember this is a 2 month old carpet . I call customer service told them I was disappointed with the way they where handling the problem. Told them I'll get the carpet cleaned but seeing how carpet was so new and the total job was 10,000 dollar I thought s little good will should be given and the should pay for the cleaning, which was 200.00 dollar. The customer service person said she would email a manager and get back to me . There been no response it been over a week . I hired empire to install all of my carpets and it was the worst experience I ever had . They show up with the wrong color carpet and wanted to be paid 100% before the job was started . They destroyed the shelving and clothing racks in all the closets . The installers were rude and didn't speak english .Andrew the salesman is a total fraud and should not be trusted .
