Didn't use Empire Today.... just wanted an estimate. The gentleman came to the house and seemed very knowledgeable. After reviewing everything and looking at product, he gave a price (had to call his superior to negotiate) and I was undecided, as it was more than I wanted to spend at that time. He would not give me an estimate in writing. My choices were to say yes on the spot to a verbal estimate or have him leave with nothing. I let him leave. What kind of business will ONLY give a verbal estimate and expects you to decide ON THE SPOT?? What's the point of getting an estimate? I don't know, but it seems very shady to me. Juan came from lancaster pa and told me that the hallway floor was uneven but would be fixed and was in the estimate. contractor came. said he could not fix the unevenness and so I cancelled the whole job. Very disappointed in their customer service and also in the quality of the rugs they sell. After a few months, our rug began to pull and unravel. The installers they sent to out to assess the issue were non-English speaking; we could not communicate with each other. I conveyed to them that I could not even vacuum the rug because the frays got caught up in the bristles. They reported back to Empire that our vacuum caused the damage to the rug. They refused to make it right, saying it was cause by our vacuum (we have a Dyson and none of our other rugs have any pulls or frays). We will never use Empire again and we will be sure to tell others to stay clear. read more

I am very disappointed with this company. It was very easy to schedule an appointment for an estimate but everything after that was a disaster. We were told they could install our new ceramic flooring in one day and they would move the washer and dryer for us. Then I received a phone call days before our install saying they had to come out a day before the install to do work to prepare for the install. The day of our install, we took a day off of work, they did not show up. Didn't call until we called them to find out where they were and were told they couldn't make it to our house that day. Said they would come out the next day, Saturday and finish the job on Sunday. Came out on Saturday only to say they didn't have the right crew for the job. They left and someone called us to reschedule again. Promised us they would be back out the following Saturday and Sunday and promised us the job would get done. Well today, Friday, at about 2:00 PM they called to say they couldn't stick to that schedule and we would have to reschedule yet again. Worst company to deal with ever. Cancelled the project and will never go to them again. I would suggest anyone think twice before hiring this company, you will be very disappointed and frustrated that you were taken in by their lies. read more

After preparing our house for full installation of vinyl flooring we found out that wouldn't happen. The installer came in and pulled back the carpet and said we needed subflooring installed throughout the house. He knew immediately but the salesman should have known. We were told the salesman isn't the installer, duh, but he's the point of contact. They lost an 11G sale. I would never recommend their service to anyone. read more

I think it's important to know that this is our 8th time in 11 years using Empire Today, and I have lost all faith. Not only did you increase your estimate (onsite) by 40%, they didn't remove my old floors (lazy) rather laid the new floor over top, and laid the floors incorrectly in spots, and the transition between the floors is more than 1/2 thick which is a serious tripping hazard. The fact that they laid this floor over the old one increased the floor height at least 1/2 greater than the floor adjacent and it not only looks bad, its just not safe!!! We were PROMISED by our sales rep John Schiavo that there would be no more that 1/8" difference.....this is way more than that. read more

I scheduled an appointment to get an estimate for carpet installation. I scheduled my appointment between 9 am and 11 am. I received a phone call stating a representative would arrive at 10:30 am. At 11:05 am, I called 1-855-558-3200, and a sleepy phone rep answered. She informed me that someone was at my home at 10:30 am, and they called me. Which was not so; I've taken off from work to accommodate my appointment. There was no knock at my door or a phone call. She stated the sales rep canceled my appointment because of a no-show. I was furious. I decided to call again to get a rep who was not sleeping. I called 1-844-643-0219 and got an outstanding rep. I explained my situation, and she informed me that they needed to cancel my appointment because no one was home. She contacted the sales rep and said that someone would call me. Unfortunately, I would instead not get a call because it is unprofessional not to contact a customer, especially a customer who has taken off from work, a customer who was excited about having her home carpeted and turned around to be disappointed because of laziness, inconsiderate, and irresponsible Empire salespeople. If I could put zero stars I would. Terrible customer service and lies. Spent thousands of dollars for my floor to not even last 2 years. They won't come look at it without paying $150 assessment fee. Trying to tell me it's moisture related when there is never water where the floor is coming up. I installed my own laminate in my bathroom from Home Depot and it gets wet all the time but has zero issues. I wouldnt recommend to my worst enemy. read more

My wife and I used Empire to install Mohawk smart strand carpets throughout our house in November of 2019. It is now September of 2022 ,and all the carpets have been taken up and replaced with laminate floors and carpets by Shaw.The Mohawk carpets are HORRIBLE, REPEAT HORRIBLE!!!!!!! The dirt and stains do not come out as promised, and they looked liked crap after less than 3 years.(Even after being professionally cleaned multiple times) What a waste of money. The installation was subpar at best,that's why we went with a different company this time and everything looks great! If you're in the tri state area Bob's Affordable Carpets in New Castle, Delaware offers FANTASTIC selection, prices, and service. We had a salesman come out to give us a quote. He only brought us 4 samples of carpet even though he said he had more in his car. He kept saying they can install tomorrow which I didn't want because I had to pack things up. He took a deposit but didn't give us a receipt or a copy of the contract. He said he would email it to me but the next day I had to call the main number to get one. He never gave me a card of who to call. Then I found out there is no store, they work out of warehouses. Empire installed carpet a few years back. They didn't install it correctly. A year after it was installed it buckled in three different places. I called them today and they said that I should've had it professionally cleaned. What? It didn't need to be cleaned and no one from Empire told me to do that. I've had carpets my whole life and that never happened. They would not do anything to fix it and they did crappy work amd don't stand behind their products. The buckling is pretty bad and now I have to pay out of my pocket. Wth. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. They missed some nails on the original install. When they came back to fix it. They glued down some floorboards which led to even more problems. Refused to fix until we threatened with lawsuit and paid $900 in outside inspections to force them to fix it. They lied and misinformed us every chance they could. Empire Today came out on 8-10-23 to give us an estimate on new carpet. After salesman called his boss we all agreed at a price of $3000 total with an 8 lb pad. The salesman said he needed a deposit of $1048.80 which we provided via a check. It was agreed install would be on 8-16-23. Salesman never advised us we would lose our total deposit if cancel contract. When contract came via email, it was 12 pages and the total price listed was $4195.18 and after subtracting our provided deposit we would owe on day of install $3146.38. I called the salesman and pointed out the pad listed is wrong and the balance should be a total of $3000 not $3146.38. The salesman said a change order would be sent which we received but the same wrong pad and amount was still listed. I did not sign this change order nor did I send it back. On 8-16-23 the installer arrived with the wrong carpet and pad. We refused both, installer notified his boss and he left. We called salesman who never called us back. We spoke to a manager who advised their carpet samples don't always match what is delivered. He recalled that we wanted the 8 lb pad. 8-17-23 spoke with Empire corporate "Crystal" who we advised we were canceling our contract due to questionable practices of Empire and we wanted deposit back. Was told per page 10 of contract we will not get deposit back. She asked what she could do to make this right? We wanted our deposit. Was told if she was paying $3000 she would have read the contract and we should read contracts in the future. At first we said since you are keeping our deposit we have no choice but to go with empire and she'd send out a salesman. Then I called her back advising we refuse to be held hostage to Empire and we would see what we can do to file the appropriate complaints against Empire Today. read more

Wish I read these reviews before I hired them. They use the sales tactic of coming into your home and pressuring you to buy right then and there. I was desperate enough and on a short timeline that I fell for it. They don't want to share any specific per sq ft prices, you just get a ball park. They did carpet in one room and floors for the rest. They are expensive and work is just ok. I have carpet installed upstairs by Home Depot and it was a much better deal. Same quality of materials and work. If you do go with Empire, which I would not recommend, just offer 50% of the quoted price and work from there. read more

Sales experience was great, Installation was good, follow up has been been below expectations. Carpet was installed, areas along the edges and baseboard has gaps between them. Called Customer Support to report. They scheduled an appointment, then they called to cancel and reschedule the appoint since the installer couldn't make it. The second schedule appoint, the installer never showed up nor did anyone from Empire call saying they couldn't make it. Called for the third time and awaiting for another appointment. I will never trust Empire today with another project in my house ever again! I am a repeat customer but the second time around they totally scammed me into paying more for a cheaper quality carpet, not to mention the tack strips that cut my daughters foot because the carpet was so terribly thin. when I had originally gotten carpet from empire I paid much less for a much better carpet in three rooms, when the sales person said I would be getting "just one step down" In quality from what I had upstairs I felt comfortable with going ahead and paying a little more specially during this inflationary period. We feel for the commercial and called this business. A rep came out immediately with samples to show. We were changing adding hardwood to our upstairs hallway, primary bedroom & closet and 2 additional bedrooms. In addition to putting down new carpet as runners on the front and back staircases. Needless to say, this was a very costly job! Now I wish I would have gone elsewhere since the price wasn't that great but the timing is what we needed. The installers came and put all the flooring down in1 day. However, they only give a 1 year warranty which is RIDICULOUS! because experts say the first year is when you will see if there are any issues after things settle which is correct! The floor boards have wide gaps and discoloration throughout the flooring. When we called, we were told our warranty had expired and we would have to pay the 150.00 to have them come out and look at the flooring. If it was determined a manufacturing or install issue, we would get back the money. Honestly, does it ever work out for the customer. If it is deemed something we did, the 150 would go towards the repair price. We have hardwood flooring that was put down 17 yrs ago and they still look amazing! We wanted to get rid of the carpet upstairs. We were going to then change all the flooring downstairs to the more modern gray color we picked for upstairs. But NOT NOW!! We will NEV ER refer this company as they turn their back on you as soon as something goes wrong. This is another big job which we will give to another company and we will have them fix the mistakes of Empire Flooring. Empire Carpet and Flooring I know a lot of you have seen the Empire carpet and flooring commercials I had several things done with the Empire and they worked out however the carpet that I had installed faded it and it took the nine months months to respond to it and it still isn't resolved I ordered from them to fix this issue I'm still waiting for that to be resolved Notice it's normal to have one issue with a company but two issues takes in a bit far Empire Carpet came in to do my bathroom floors they caused the leak in my ceiling that Leaked straight from the kitchen down to the basement they came in to put it in planks flooring in the bathrooms.  They forgot to put a seal for the toilet they punctured the line in my pipes I was left without water for the whole weekend and the installer brought an assistant that assistant was the only one that helped me. He asked a friend to drive two  hours  on a Sunday to fix my issue  I got several estimates over the weekend and one of them was for $5,000 from roto rooter to fix the leak only now it's going to cost me $2,000 per bathroom  just to fix what they damaged flooring $1,500 to fix the ceiling damage and an additional $600 to get the house clean after all the leaking what's taller fell into my bed and damaged my bed post and it goes on and on it's still yet this issue has not been resolved and this occurred in March. by calling Empire I have incurred almost $11,000 of repairs and Empire told me doing the weekend when this occurs to get the work done and they have not paid reimbursed or fixed anything 2700 Plumber 4000 Fix bathroom floors 1500 Painting 600 Cleaning 200 Fix bedpost Do not call Empire Carpets read more

These carpets are horrific quality. I can feel the tac strips pushing into my skin and my Children's!! the customer service (Liam & Larry) offered us $250 of hush money to keep reviews off line and not to tell anyone about this issue. HA! extremely over priced, feels like we are walking on straw. I would never recommend this company to anyone and highly recommend you go somewhere else. we also got lied to and told the carpet wouldn't be much different then another one we had but this carpet is like the worst of the worse ! A few months ago we used them and paid less money for a much better quality of carpet. He sat here in my home and told me the competitor I had out here was "trying to sell me stuff I don't need" (floorboards,subfloor) so their price was lower. We are a young couple and new homeowners, trying our best to do the right thing when it comes to renovating our home. Recently we contracted with Empire Today to replace a vinyl floor with hardwood floors. We have to admit we never thought we would be writing a review for a company like this. The workers were polite, thorough and worked clean. After completion of our flooring install we contacted the customer relations department of Empire Today regarding the trim at two locations of the new floor. While the representative apologized for our experience and assured that the flooring was done to industry standard, Empire Today seems to not agree with our concern that the trim could be improved. We want to highlight how the customer relations representative took their time with us and explained how Empire Today knew before starting the install that our trim would never be flush. After discussing with the representative we learned the Sales agent who we allowed into our home may not have known it wasn't possible for Empire Today to provide flush trim. We wanted our floors to look beautiful. It was a very difficult process for us to decide to post this review however we chose to be a voice for any future customers of Empire Today. We figured if we can help educate people who may find themselves in a situation similar to ours and prevent anyone else from possibly experience this occurrence it may be the right thing to do. We just felt powerless or even hopeless that our floors would ever be considered beautiful after the customer relations representative decided to not take further action in our home. Where to start with the comedy of errors. Had an appointment 2/26, told them to come at 5;45 due to work schedule, they call me at 4:30 that day and say they will be there in 10 mins. I say that is not going to work. Reschedule for today, 2/28. Aaron Jones calls 5:22, about my appointment at 6. He starts asking me qualifying questions (do i have 90 mins, am i going to buy today, what i want done) and saying he might be coming closer to 6:45. (disclaimer i was a marketing director for a home improvement company for 10 years). I ask him if that's what he is doing and he gets testy and i say i will call him back. I call him back 5 mins later (5:30) and say yeah, come on over 6:45 is good. He then says he might be later then that because he is writing a huge deal and with travel time might be later. I ask where his big deal is, he says Collegeville, i say how that's where my house is, so it shouldn't take you that long in travel time. He says yeah your right and he will let me know when he is on the way. 7:15 phone rings, it's aaron, saying he is in my development but can't find my house. I tell him the number and look outside and he says ok be there in a second. I wait 10 mins nothing. I call the main number, speak to Alfreada (spelling), who tries calling aaron to no answer. So Aaron lied about being in my developement, then just didn't answer the phone. I tried him again to no answer. Alfreada says she can have a sales manger call me in 24 business hours, maybe not till Monday. I left work early, their rep called me to say he was outside (supposedly) and no he is not answering and she can't do anything about it, let alone i can't speak to a manager till Monday maybe. I want to know where aaron was when he lied to me and said he was at my house and couldn't find it and why he did that and why he avoided the calls. What type of people do you have working for you. Avoid at all costs. As i was typing this, empire called to reschedule my appointment, saying the rep had a schedule conflict, I asked if she knew he had called and i had called them and she didn't . Carpet was installed throughout 4 bedrooms upstairs in 2016. The master bedroom has carpet that needs to restretched. At the time of sale I was told that they would restretch if needed while we were in the home. Just got off the phone with C.S. and was informed they won't stretch after 4 years. A warranty claim will require receipts that the carpet was "professionally cleaned" each year. Last time with Empire Today ever. I will make sure to tell friends and family. So now I have a bunched up carpet tjat I will need to find a local installer to try and fix. Not happy read more

Empire Today came to my daughter's condo to replace the carpet. Her husband was home and the installers informed him that he had to disconnect and move the TV because they did not touch electronics. As he was disconnecting the TV, the installer stepped in and the TV fell and was broken. My daughter opened a claim with Empire and that's were the customer service died. To date it has taken over a month for an attempt to settle the claim. Empire requested the receipt for the new tv and pictures of the damage of the old tv. and it was provided. When an claim update was requested, Empire offered $200. When asked how this amount was arrived at, my daughter was informed that they did not receive the receipt for the damaged tv nor video evidence of the installer stepping in. Neither of these items was asked for at the beginning but now it is required. It would've been physically impossible for her husband to take video and disconnect the tv at the same time. My daughter did not keep a 3 year old receipt. Bottom line is it's the customer's word vs. the employee's word. And it is cheaper for Empire to believe the employee and insinuate that the customer is not telling the truth Once again the customer loses. It appears to be a trend in the 21st century that the company is always right. Beware if you hire Empire. Have your camera and your video poised to document everything. You will need at least 2 people to be in your dwelling. Or be smart and just don't hire them in the first place! read more

I used Empire before in my old house. They were excellent. This time not so much. When they first got to my home, they had to run right back out because the sales rep gave them the wrong measurements for the plywood. On top of that, I had to pay a difference if $400 because of the rep's mistake. Then, when they were almost finished, they realized that whoever packed the truck, put the wrong flooring in there so we had to go another day before they could finish. And we weren't even priority in their route the next day. We had to wait until after 3pm for them to show up which was an inconvenience since they should have been done the day before. So we couldn't move furniture back in place or clean up. Then we were scheduled to have carpet done on the second floor. I asked for a Friday and Monday install since we needed time in between to move furniture around. My sales rep scheduled it for a Friday and Saturday bc she stated that the workers wouldn't get paid for the job until next pay if we didn't do it back to back. I was getting ready to cancel....even called corporate, bc I was originally told that Friday and Monday was okay. The sales rep was very unprofessional and I probably won't use Empire again. We had a floor put in March 16, then the next day everything shut down due to the virus. After two weeks we moved a chair and seeing a buckle I waited because I knew nobody would be in there I did call April 21, and left a message they did come out in May after I called a second time, and informed me that it was water damage and will not cover it. It was under a chair there was no water anywhere around there there was no water on the floor they do not honor the warranty the installation was sloppy and they broke two of her items. THEY DID RESOLVE THIS FOR ME- AND DID AGREE TO REFUND MY DEPOSIT. THE LOCAL DISTRICT MANAGER AND HIS ASSISTANT WERE VERY KIND, SO MY STARTS WENT FROM ONE TO FOUR. I AM BEHIND A COMPANY WHO LISTEN TO AND RESPECT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I met with Paul- who was absolutely wonderful! He took his time, and was very kind and helpful. Thus the one star. He would get five stars. Other than that- I'm livid. I have used Empire Today previously. I am SO angry. I specifically booked this installation date for tomorrow, Tuesday. Someone called me several times last week to confirm. I confirmed. They never even give you an installation time frame- so you have to literally block out your entire day. I get a call at 7:45 pm LAST night- saying they're not coming. Then, I get an email for me to confirm my installation for Friday. Who said anything about FRIDAY???? I'm NOT taking off work to get a carpet installation- when I specifically booked a certain day that I already have off. I called to cancel the installation entirely. If I rescheduled this for another Tuesday- who is to say EMPIRE TODAY will even show up. The whole point of the name TODAY is to imply that it can be installed the next day! The woman told me that I would get all of my deposit MINUS the 25% of the cost of the carpet if I cancelled. YOU are the ones who wronged me!!!!!! Why are YOU allowed to cancel at any time with NO ramifications YET, if I want to cancel because of YOUR issues, because of your errors, I lose out almost $300 (my deposit). You are bullies, and monsters. I am DISGUSTED by this. I understand I signed away my life in about 10 different spaces to get this carpet installed. I understand that one of those spaces allows EMPIRE to reschedule at any time and I lose my money. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean you have to be horrible monsters and stick to that. You have wronged me. If you can't do my install in the time we agreed upon, you should refund my money like an ethical company. What a disgrace. read more

Extremely disappointment in the customer service, carpet quality and warranty department at Empire Today. We installed carpet in our master bedroom and upstairs hallway in December 2016. The carpet looks extremely matted and warn down for just being a little over a year old. It is just my husband and I in the house and that area gets very little traffic, so there is no reason the carpet should be in this type on condition. In January 2018 (13 months after carpet install), I called Empire to process a claim. Since it was over the 12 month warranty with Empire I had to process a claim through the manufacturer. The sales representative and inspector both agreed the carpet needed to be replaced because of extreme matting and wear. However, the manufacturer denied the claim because that type of damage is not covered by our warranty. Basically nothing is covered under the '10 years guaranteed' warranty. Empire did nothing. Now we are stuck with the poor quality carpet and a company that does not stand behind their product. They lost a long-time customer. read more
