I purchased wall-to-wall carpeting from Empire Today for my 6,500 sq ft home, first floor 5 years ago, and second floor 4 years ago, and I deeply regret it. For the amount of money I spent, I expected durability, proper installation, and a company that stands behind its product. Instead, the carpeting is now buckling, warping, and lifting in multiple areas throughout my home. It looks terrible, it creates tripping hazards, and it completely undermines the purpose of investing in a "professional" install. To make matters worse, the links to the e-mail they sent me on 8/1/20, "Keep Important Information for your Records - Warranty," don't even work. And Empire refuses to repair or replace the problematic areas. They happily took the money upfront, but the moment there's a real issue years later, the customer support disappears. It's extremely frustrating that companies like this love to send surveys a few weeks after installation asking for "5-star feedback" -- as if the true measure of quality is how it looks on day 30. The real test is how well the product endures after a few years of actual living, and unfortunately, Empire Today fails that test completely. A company's commitment to quality should be judged over time, not just at installation. The carpet I had before this install was 20+ years old, and if it wasn't for the pile and color, I would have been better off keeping it, as it had endured over 20 years. If you're considering Empire for carpeting, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. I had my floors installed in January 2021. This was a disaster from the beginning, The transitions were a different color, the gaps between the quarterround and the floor were awful. They stuffed crap in between the gaps to fill in spaces, then came back and caulked the ever living hell out of it, and to the floor. Then the floor boards separated. Someone came in and kicked it closed and said it's fixed. Then the floor separated again. They replaced the entire hallway flooring. They still separated, at this point it was out of warranty and I gave up. Four years later we are replacing these floors. When we pulled them up, we found that they nailed all the quarter round through the floor. It's a FLOATING floor, this is why they became unlocked. Then we found where they glued the flooring peices together and to the blue foam underlayment. There were peices shorter than 8 inches cut and put in where they did not measure correctly. This is the worst flooring job my husband has ever seen, this was done before we were married, and he is in construction. Half the stuff they did was completely wrong. I had wall to wall carpeting installed in May 2020. This year I had to remove all of it. I called them to ask them to send some workers over in order to remove the thousands of staples a lot of tacking strips, they refused. They just about destroyed my laminate flooring underseath! A salesman came out and tried to sell me new flooring. I couldn't believe it! So I have been forced to try to remove all of this shit myself. I'm 71 years old, with lung cancer. We had a floor installed in our bathroom recently. The floor itself was installed well. However, once they had left we noticed the toilet that they had removed and then put back began to leak. When we alerted customer service they claimed they were not responsible, despite being the ones to remove the toilet and cause the issue. if I could give a 0 star review I would. this has been the worst experience ever. I spent 10k with them to redo all of my floors 2 years ago. I'm moving and needed carpet replaced in one of the bedrooms. I was told they could do it as early as the next day. I agreed but made it explicitly clear to Tom Brooks that I needed a 2 hour notice from the install team since I no longer live at the location needing carpet and it's a 2 hour drive. Tom never left a note for the install team so they called me when they were 25 minutes away and I was still an hour + away, I wasted 4 hours that day driving there and back and was promised the following Monday they would be there between 11-1. Morning of (today) I didn't get any confirmation calls. I had to call 3 times into customer service to confirm and finally got a call back from the "manager". No idea what his name was but he was unbelievably rude, he didn't care how massively inconvenient this was for me not once but TWICE because the install team won't be here until 2-6pm now... I left my house at 7am to be here for an 11-1 install time. He had the worst attitude and was irritated with ME that I had the audacity to be upset!! That's 8 hours of driving and they want to now reschedule because I refuse to stay here until 6pm+, drive another 4 hours round trip, and won't even give me any type of discount for them wasting my time. The installer SWORE to me his "best guy" would be here this morning between 11-12, 1pm at the latest. Had salesman come out to measure and show samples of vinyl plank flooring. He gave a verbal quote which I asked to see a copy. He was to forward which I never received. Empire reached out to ask why I didn't place an order. I told them I never received a quote which they also said I would receive which again I did not. The salesman reached out a week later for the order. I told him I am going with someone else which he replied to send him the quote and he would beat it. I said send me your quote. Initial install was okay. 2 rooms, were done in a day for laminate panels. Had a transition that would keep bowing in the middle. Had to have them out 4+ times to try to fix and it still isn't. They just keep reglueing it. I even recommend that they shave a little off the side so it wouldn't bow and the answer from the installer was, "you're under warranty, just call again." Customer service is horrible. Multiple calls with no return call. Every single time, a new person that knows nothing. I was even given a direct line to the service department that doesn't work. The installers were horrible. Poor communication skills. Didn't understand English very well. Floors look great but damaged and broke quite a few things. Didn't handle furniture well. Didn't put furniture back in right places including a very heavy 2 piece china closet. Scratched my dining room table and leaves for the table by piling smaller furniture on top of it. Broke hanging light fixture which matched 2 other fixtures in my kitchen. Broke toilet when removing. Leaked water into drop ceiling in basement when removing toilet. Destroyed paint in bathroom. Didn't cover piles of furniture they moved room to room resulting in dust, sawdust, wood and ceramic tile chips stuck on my couch, in my gas top and stove and stuck to felt side of table leafs. Left windows open that were blocked by heavy piles of furniture making it difficult for me to reach to close when they left for the day. Broke doorbell. Left razor blades on outdoor step. Nails sticking out of moldings. Door jam has big gap in kitchen leading to garage. Changed my 2 part installation dates without consulting with me. For the amount of money I spent to upgrade my floors I shouldn't have to be laying out more money to fix and replace what they destroyed!! read more

Would not recommend Empire for flooring. The empire rep was very nice up until the point he gave us his ridiculous quote. Once we indicated we thought the price was high he became rude, snarky, and even told us he felt like he was wasting his time. He tried telling us we actually qualified for a promotional discount lol. The price was still way too high. We bought our vinyl floors elsewhere and had a trusted local handyman install. We paid close to half of what empire quoted us for everything and more. Experience was not good. We are extremely happy with the decision we made to go elsewhere. I guess the option of having Empire come in and do everything (move furniture, rip up old flooring, install, and dispose of old flooring) is a nice convenience? Worst Flooring Company ever. I had Empire Today install a floor and rug in my living room and dining room. I had to contact them in a few months regarding the rug in my dining room as the rug was shredding. When Vacuuming my rug initially, I noticed this. The rug ended up needing to be repaired. This was within three months. They came to the house to repair the rug. They noticed I had a dog and tried to blame this on him. Although I paid top price for the rug the rug is so cheap. They did repair it but same problem occurred later in different spots of the rug. Again, the quality of this rug is so cheap, I understand why they were giving it away however, it was not a cheap price. The biggest problem I have is with the hardwood floor (and not happy with the rug either). I paid over $4,200.82, to have this floor leveled and put the hardwood floor down and a rug. Shortly, I noticed the boards were pulling apart causing a gap in the boards. I contacted them numerous times. They did send me a email site to send photos which I did and nothing happened. I literally contacted them in early 2023 about the problem with the hardwood floor and 2022 for rug. I finally got a call from Liam Davis at Empire today. She called with a Bad Attitude. It is clear they don't like handling disputes. I will tell you when you hire someone for floors, Do not hire this company. They are horrible and the quality of work is horrible. Best to contact a Better Flooring Company and get Quality Work Done. Finally, I had a hardwood floor put down in my kitchen around the same time. I offered Liam Davis at Empire Today, if I could send her photos of my kitchen hardwood floor and she Freaked Out, MAD! One minute with their "salesman" and I wouldn't let these schlockmeisters install a new welcome mat on my front porch much less carpet in my home. An hour late, confused, disheveled and carrying a sample bag of ridiculously expensive, unbranded carpet. Willie Loman was a sight. "I can have a crew out here tomorrow" he said optimistically. Fantastic, now all you have to do is measure the room, provide an estimate and guarantee your eager beavers will move the furniture (in writing.) When it finally appeared, the estimate looked like it was scribbled on the back of a cocktail napkin and Mr. Polyester dolefully added that while he couldn't guarantee the furniture moving in writing, today was my lucky day since he could extend an extra 15% off promotion... "just for me"... if I put 50% down on my credit card. The only thing left to do was burn this tick off with a match and frog-march him out of my home. These guys are the worst and apparently operate against a business model that relies on accumulating new customers faster than they can piss off the old ones. A complete waste of time and definitely not worth the cost of the invasive delousing of my living room required once he left. Coffee is definitely not for closers. No stars. read more

Let's start off with: if I could give zero stars, I would. 3 years ago I purchased their "luxury vinyl flooring" for a premium price. The installation was a nightmare. It was a two day job. The first day they took all of my furniture and put it on the back deck. They were in their van ready to leave that night and they thought it would be ok to leave all of my furniture outside uncovered until the job was complete. Luckily I saw them leaving and literally ran after them to come back and bring my furniture back in. On the 2nd day they were still installing at 9pm. I asked why they were not just coming back the next day, and the reason they were not was because they had some sort of warehouse training they needed to complete. They needed to trim an interior door that they decided to trim with a jigsaw. and there were holes in the sheetrock near the stairs that were never repaired. Fast forward to today: This "luxury vinyl flooring" was sold to us as "pretty much waterproof" and it's a high quality product. Well I have some lifting in the kitchen area and called to have it repaired. Evidently the flooring is only under warranty if there was an accident that caused the damage, which seems to be the complete opposite of what they should do. So now it's costing me upwards of $1500 to repair the vinyl boards. And there is no guarantee that I won't have this problem again because the installer isn't sure why the boards are lifting. When I called customer service, I was sent to VM where they said they would get back to me "within 3 business days". Needless to say, it was a game of phone tag for upwards of a week. And back to the installer - I received a call at 8am that the installer would be here in an hour or two. 3 hours later I called to see where they are, and they were at another job and would not get to my place until 4-5pm, and then he asked if he could just come the next day. As unprofessional as it gets. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT consider Empire Today for your flooring needs. They do not stand by the quality of their work nor the quality of their installations. UPDATE: I sent an email to Empire Today as they requested - and of course they have not responded. Do not be fooled that just because they comment on a negative review, that they actually care about rectifying anything. UPDATE #2: Empire Today did call to find out if I was going to move forward with the repair job, which costs $1550. I asked for a quote, to understand the cost of materials and labor. They refused to do so. I asked if that included tax or not. They said the tax was included. Pretty shady in my opinion. I am not moving forward with the repair. I am positive that I will be spending more money in the future because of the poor quality products they sell. read more

He finally started an hour late. While the floor was acceptable the molding was atrocious. I have never seen such amateur work. I refused to sign off and was told the only way to fix the problem was to sign a doc of completion. If I could give them zero stars I would. Their customer service out of the Philadelphia office is the absolute worst I have ever dealt with. I ordered carpet for a bedroom and LVP for another room. Carpet went in great, install was professional & fast. Great! The LVP is another story. They emailed me the contract and I noticed that the Install Diagonally box was checked "no", this was wrong. I did want it installed diagonally. I called the number on the contract to fix it. They verified that they fixed it on the contract & the floor would be installed diagonally. Day of installation, the installers have no idea it's supposed to be installed diagonally. They call their coordinator who, in turn, calls me to say it's "impossible" to install that floor in a diagonal pattern - that's the first lie. Then he says it's ruins the integrity of the floor - second lie. When I asked how it ruins the integrity of the floor, he said something about the way it doesn't lock into the wall, which makes no sense at all - third lie. I admit I raised my voice because I do not like being lied to or spoken to in a condescending manner. However, because I called him out on telling bold face lies, my house is labeled as "hostile", as I was "yelling and screaming" - fourth lie. The coordinator told the installers to leave. I call to get my money back, because like an idiot, I paid in full, thinking it would make the process smoother & easier. Never again. They would NOT refund my money. They kept asking if I wanted to cancel. I told them I'm not canceling, they walked off the job. Not only that, but I never accepted the contract because they didn't have the install right (diagonal). I should've looked at the reviews before I ever met with them, as I would never have used them. They charged me $387 for a "cancelation fee". I am still pretty angry about this whole thing, because now, all the projects that were supposed to follow this one, are all up in the air and have to be rescheduled. They put me behind at least three weeks. The negative reviews certainly outweigh the positive ones. It looks like $387 is a good price to pay to not have the problems a lot of other people have had after installation. I want to officially complain by how I was treated by a Sales Representative of Empire Carpet who visited our home in Glen Rock, NJ on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 4 p.m. He would not provide a business card and had no samples ready to show and to go back to his car with a bulky book of hardwood floor samples. Once a selection was made, he informed us it was not available for 3 weeks. Then, he stated I had to provide him with a 25% Deposit for the cost of $2,000.00 he quoted but refused to provide a Contract. I did not need financing and when I asked for a Contract, he got very aggressive and said "never mind," Empire is a billion dollar company and we do not need your small order and stormed out. Stay away from Empire! There is a major disconnect between what the salesperson knows about a product and what the installers tell you when they arrive. I had asked that my luxury vinyl flooring be laid vertically on my first floor - the salesperson said fine, just tell the installers. When they arrived, the installers (who were very nice) said they could not lay the floor vertically or it would buckle because it was a thin product - they could either lay it horizontally or put in additional transition strips between rooms. Neither was acceptable, so I cancelled the project. The product I choose was not cheap, so I was surprised about its limitations. After complaining to Customer Service (which also poor), they quoted "manufacturing standards" to me, which were never communicated to me during the sales process. And since I would not accept the options to lay the floor another way, it was my fault the job was cancelled. My refund was ridiculous, which I am fighting. Just know that the salespeople are contractors chasing the money, and after you place the deposit, they disappear. Find another flooring company! read more
