When I needed to track down the exact tile used for a repair years later, their team took the time to dig through older records and help identify the brand so I could locate it. We went to Bell flooring and not only did we get beautiful hardwood for a really reasonable price, but the service that came along with the purchase was top notch . Make sure you don't buy any extra because they don't let you return anything after 30 day. Most project take a longer than 30 days. So if you're looking to take overage back, go to the big box stores (floor and decor, Lowe's, Home Depot.. etc.) they all have the same stuff. These guys will give every excuse (you opened a box, the tape is off) to not take anything back after they said they would before purchasing. Spend 30k with them and wouldn't take back $1500 of new material. Extra $500 or so retuned damaged and I wouldn't expect a refund of those. Definitely going elsewhere on the next project. read more

There was an issue with broken tiles from the delivery company (not Bell's fault) and Bell was right on it to get the replacements in. They are not the most inexpensive option but my experience has been with other cheaper flooring options they just simply don't last. I even asked Bell flooring if this was a good floor and he said you could put mustard on the floor. I purchased the floor from them but my contractor installed the floor. Bell floor did not come out to see it they sent someone who gave no explanation as to why the floor cracked. read more

I absolutely love this place. It's by 2nd and Girard and there is a free parking lot for Bell's right next door. Anthony was my sales guy and he was awesome. I was re-doing the wood floors in my south Philly townhouse. Anthony was Very patient and let me take home samples to see them next to my cabinets. He understood that this was a big purchase and made sure I saw all of the options that were in stock. He was also very responsive to my email questions. In the end he had a brand that was made in the USA and in stock and on sale which looked very similar to a more expensive brand I was eyeing up. The floor has been installed and it's beautiful. We moved out of northern liberties but went back to our old hood to bell for the flooring and tile for our new house. Every step of the way they were helpful and receptive. I needed additional paperwork for my appraiser and they were able to email me the paperwork in a matter of minutes. We all have budgets and they were very respectful of ours. I had a time sensitive debacle on my hands where a refinisher said he could stain the red out of brazilian cherry floors (he couldn't), and I had a mad scramble to buy new floors without delaying the construction timeline. Joe came to the rescue. He brought samples home with him, met with me, gave me an education in wood floors I never knew I needed, and got them ordered in the nick of time. We bought a home in Philly that had recently been renovated. When we moved in, we noticed that there were soft spots on the floor and the boards were splintering and dipping. We contacted Bell Floor, who supplied the materials, and talked them through the problems we were experiencing. They listened well and helped us identify faulty installation by an unaffiliated contractor as the problem. (Bell Flooring doesn't do installation.) Based on their insights, we brought in a different contractor who confirmed that there was no problem with the materials but that the original installation was shoddy and cut-rate. Bell Flooring helped us get some extra boxes of the flooring materials we needed to replace the shoddy installation on a tight timeline. They were courtesy, friendly, and knowledgeable. Will definitely go back next time I need help with a flooring job! read more

Really a 4.5 review. . . . So I HATE wall to wall carpeting. Our Port-Fishington house had w2w in our living room (27x15) when we bought the house. Well we finally got around to replacing it. We first called Empire Today. Big mistake. Way inflated prices and a rude estimator They gave us a 5,800 estimate (not even real hardwood - we got an estimate for wood laminate flooring) Now we may be young-ish but we are not idiots. As soon as we told the guy we needed to think about it, he was rude - so forget about you. Went to Bell and should have just gone there in the first place. They gave us a bunch of samples to bring home. Then when the estimator came, he said he had another color that might match our flooring in the dinning room and kitchen better - so he dropped it off the following day with the written estimate - which was SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than Empire. It should also be noted that they have a huge flooring selection - bamboo, cork, stone, tile, wood etc. . . all kinds of beautiful flooring that my husband and I would have considered if we knew we would be in this house for the long term. Plus, they have a puppy that "works' as a greeter-customer service specialist, lol. On the day the flooring was installed, the guys came at 9ish - and were completely finished by 3pm. They even took away the old carpet! We are so happy with how the new flooring looks - so much better then the old carpet. My only (small) complaint is that none of the guys who actually did the installation spoke any English (I believe it was Portuguese) - not that I have a problem with that - it just made for some difficult communication with a few issues that arose during the day. One of the installers and I had to play a serious case of charades over a vent cover. . . . read more

Go here. Seriously. My husband and I are in the process of renovating our home and adding a master bedroom/bath combo to our third floor. We wanted a retro look for our bathroom so we decided on hex tiles for the floor and subway tiles for the walls, a mental image we then had to put into play by actually going to purchase the tiles. First we tried Avalon Tile but they were super expensive and beyond unhelpful (I'll so be yelping them next). One evening after bowling at North Bowl we walked back to our car and realized we were walking right by a floor/tile place. How had we never noticed that before? It's like when you learn a new word and then you hear it three times in one week. Our brains were focused on tile. Finally one Saturday morning we got ourselves into Bell expecting we'd have to order our tile and that it would be expensive since we were in Northern Liberties. Boy were we wrong. We were met with amazing, friendly and ridiculously helpful service. These guys know what they're doing! Our tile was in stock so we walked out of there with all of our subway and hex tiles and grout supplies for about $600. We had to order our pencil tile, which totaled $90. By going to Bell we were able to tile more of our wall than we thought we could afford and we saved a ton of money. They've been in business for over seventy years and with their prices and service I'd expect them to be around for another seventy. read more

I went back 4 times before I made a decision and he was very accommodating to my indecisiveness. He also let me take samples home. He even said I could call him anytime for advice on quotes I was getting from floor installers. which I did and he told me what seemed like a fair price and steered us away from someones quote that was WAY too high. They have a beautiful selection of products with a wide range of prices. Michael was super knowledgable about the products and helped me select something that I really liked and was in my budget. These guys are just great. My husband and i stopped in on Monday to pick out hardwood flooring. They sent someone out on Wednesday to take measurements / do an estimate who was friendly and knowledgeable. We ended up having our general contractor install the floors, and stopped by Thursday to purchase the wood. We were in and out with a truckload of wood in about half an hour. Everyone working there was friendly, and they didn't seem to mind at all that we decided to go with another contractor for installation. We got a great deal on some closeout flooring, and couldn't be happier with Bell. read more

I stopped into Bell because I needed some last minute tile for a backsplash. The manager was incredibly helpful and took the time to answer my idiotic questions. Selection is really impressive, prices are great and they had tons of stuff in stock so I was able to walk out of the store with everything I needed.
