My wife contacted Dave for a free consultation regarding a complex employment retaliation issue. She was anxious but thoughtful in trying to provide enough background to explain the situation clearly. Rather than listening or offering any guidance, Dave was dismissive and condescending. He told her the matter was "below his pay grade" and that she should find a "less qualified" attorney, even after she expressed she was willing to pay his full rate. Instead of helping, he made her feel worse about the whole situation. We left the call feeling dismissed, unresolved, unguided, and completely unequipped to move forward. Initially I gave 5 stars, based upon the honest feedback. The advice was to me, as me being a white guy, I would have no chance to win (when age was not at play). Eventually I had a lawsuit through EDD where the judge looked at the whole story and I won that against my previous company. If I knew I had a chance to win, I would have sued my previous company from the start. And my compensation would have been proper. In clearer words: " I could have had real justice if I was advised like an equal human being.". I always thought justice is blind. At least the EDD judge followed that concept. read more

Reason being was he told me he's not a trial attorney and Pat barrera is . I agreed . I complaint to the board and the investigator Hom told me that there charges for their work were astronomical. Yet David Mallen was never around . Once I called him and he didn't even know who I was . Keep looking for better representation. There are hundreds of great lawyers in LA area. Exceptional. Period. David is a highly competent, honorable, and thoughtful employment attorney. I retained David's services when a former employer attempted to avoid their end of a separation agreement. David was able to compel the company to honor its obligations under the agreement and also fulfill additional considerations that had fallen by the wayside during initial negotiations. He accomplished everything without incurring court fees or going beyond our pre-determined hourly allocation, the cost of which was very reasonable and fair. I greatly appreciate David's use of technology for managing document sharing, review, and deliberation as it is simpler and more secure than email. I also deeply admire David's commitment to representing employees with smaller claims, the "little guy", when there are so many attorneys that are willing to do so only when there is a large settlement (and thus large fees) to be obtained.
