This is a 21+ place at all times of the day. They have some tasty frozen beverages, and allow outside food. Great for adult parties. I came here with my partner on a Saturday around 5:30. They have some incredibly nostalgic games like mortal kombat and pac man. It was pretty empty and we were able to play skeeball and air hockey without waiting. Definitely a cool place. read more

Emporium is a really cool arcade bar with lots of games and drinks. It always has a pretty decent sized crowd, and a great vibe. It's definitely energetic, but just quiet enough where you can chat with your friends and enjoy hanging out. I think my favorite thing about this bar though is the mango slushie (yacht club slushie). That drink is straight fire and I have to get it every time. I hope to be back again some time soon! read more

I RARELY rate ANY arcade lower than 3 cuz I support that life and culture, but if it's filled with janky games, hipsters, and lameness than I will SLAY. And that's what this place is full of games that don't work and aren't maintained, not clean, and just trashy like it belongs in a trailer park somewhere. I visited Emporium on October 25th. There were two male bartenders and one female bartender working that night. The two men were great -- no issues at all. However, my experience with the female bartender was disappointing. She obviously does not like her job. I'm not sure of her background (possibly white or Hispanic), she was wearing two pigtail braids. She acted unfamiliar with the menu. When I pointed out an item, she responded condescendingly, saying she couldn't see because it was too dark but if you ever been to Emporium, you know it's loud and you have to yell to even say your order so why not just read it so we're not yelling at each other and saying huh 1000 times.(Which she did the whole time) She proceeded to not look at the menu at all. First, if visibility is an issue, it's surprising that someone working behind the bar wouldn't be familiar with a few key menu items. (Please note the male bartenders didn't have a problem looking at the menu)Second, there were lights around the bar, clearly intended for both customers and staff to read menus and prepare drinks. It didn't make sense that she claimed she couldn't see. When we ordered, she seemed rushed, brought us the wrong drink, and then acted as if we had made the mistake. Her attitude came off as impatient and dismissive. At that point, I stopped engaging because she was being rude and unprofessional. She even asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?" and accused me of trying to start a confrontation, which felt unnecessary and inappropriate. Overall, her behavior made the experience uncomfortable and took away from what should have been an enjoyable night. read more

I came to Emporium with my friends to celebrate a birthday on a Wednesday night. It's a fun place with a lot of retro games, pool, air hockey, etc. A lot of the games were broken, but we still had a good time. (It also helped that there weren't that many people there, presumably because it was a weeknight.) There's also water cups and water pitchers around the venue, which was nice to have. The environment was super chill, and it made for a fun hangout spot! The vending machine full of random and/or mystery items was a great addition. I'm writing this 12/30 Monday evening at around midnight when this happened. I typically hang out by my neighborhood or River North, West Loop and Gold Coast. But I happened to be in Logan Square this evening and was walking by this bar and decided to check it out. I've been to the one in Wicker Park years back because I used to work at the bar across the street but never this location. I initially was just going to look around and leave (so I could come back at an earlier time and a later date) because it was late, but the atmosphere was nice so I decided to stay and grab a drink. They had these two slushie drink options that based off description varied dramatically in what they would taste like. I waited patiently at the bar to order, when the white male bartender with a beard comes to me. I told him I wanted to buy one of the two slushies and was simply asked him if it was possible to try a small sample of them before I order. Something that would have taken a full seconds even despite their longer bar. I asked without any pretense or attitude, it wa very polite and calm. I myself have been a bartender for 15 years and in my opinion it was not an unreasonable ask with current restaurant volume and staffing at the time. It was not that busy. The man just looked at me and said "no" with a curt attitude and made a rude face. He barely even stopped moving around to address me. I don't think i'm articulating his random nastiness well enough, but I was taken aback. I didn't say anything about his attitude but I'm sure my face looked taken aback. I told him "okay, i'll take the blue one". He just looked at me with another rude face, went back to fidgeting with side work for a few more seconds and then went on to take other customers subsequently ignoring me when he clearly heard what I said. He didn't announce he wasn't going to serve me , nor gave me a reason why. So because you work here and you're a mean person that gives you the right while on the clock to be rude to customers who have done nothing wrong and then they can't even make a surprised face back? That results in "revenge" from you? Clearly he was refusing to serve me for absolutely no reason at all. The way he handled it moved me to tears, I was already having a down day and then this man embarrassed me, and was so nasty for no reason. It was just so random. I then asked security if it was possible to speak with a manager. He told me they were working, I said I didn't mind waiting if that's okay. It was like pulling teeth. He then said they're behind the bar. I asked him to describe to me what they looked like or what their name was, and he couldn't give me a solid answer. He finally admitted it was the woman behind the bar. I spoke the woman and told her what happened, and my one star is for her because she seemed apologetic and ultimately gave me the blue slushie for free which she did not have to do. But as someone who works in the hospitality industry in high volume bars and nightclubs bartending as well, that bartenders attitude was completely unacceptable and completely unnecessary, I wasn't being difficult or rude and if I could not get a sample I understand, it's no big deal. It's the nasty and condescending manner in which the bartender handled a simple hospitality request. If a moderate volume bar and hospitality is too much for him then maybe he should find another industry where he can be rude, lazy, slow and surly somewhere else but keeping him on staff at this business will only cost business to innocent paying customers. I can't help but wonder if he was so dismissive because I am a black woman who was there herself? But unfortunately the callous lack of respect and condescending attitude leads me to believe so. Be mindful when coming to the bar that certain bartenders only want to do the bare minimum. Needless to say, I will never return back to bar. read more

Emporium is one of the biggest barcades that you'll find in this side of town. It's a great spot to come in, grab a drink (or bring your own food), play some arcade games or billiards, or just chill. Before you can enter, you must prove that you are vaccinated by showing proof. I appreciated this as it helped reassure that folx inside were staying safe as much as possible with being out and about. You have large picnic tables near the entrance where you can lay low and enjoy some food from the outside world. The walls are lined with video games and there are table games near the back. It's a massive hall with lots of lit up graffiti on the walls to really immerse you in the experience. Drinks here can be expensive unless you stick with canned beer, and even then they're still a bit high going from $5 - $7. They do have nice options for draft though and the idea of drinking and playing classic arcade games is a tempting combination for us oldies. Definitely check this spot out as a place to congregate after dinner or even beforehand. You'll be sure to find something nostalgic or a beer that may just get you there. read more

I equate this particular Emporium to a Dave & Busters, just specifically for a different market. It's drinks first, games second. Their selection of drinks are more than acceptable. Their service is pretty good too. What's not good are the games. Unofficially down times aka you lose your tokens - far too often. Whether it's the pinball machines behaving wonky, or classic arcade cabinets gobbling your tokens but not registering credits. It's frankly a very disappointing experience. I go here for convenience, but I can easily make the trip elsewhere. Your mileage will vary. And that's not a good thing. read more

You can't go wrong with Emporium, especially this location. We came on a Saturday night around 8 and it wasn't too busy. The shuffleboard table was open, but was in major need of sand. Came here for my partners b day! It was so awesome that we could reserve seats for 20 people without needing to put down a deposit. No food but lots of spots near by you can order takeout from. We got pizza from around the corner. Huge drink menu lots of beer to pick from. The place was packed on a Friday night so we didn't get to play pool. But loved all the pinball and skeeball. What do you do after you watch It? You go to the House of the Dead! All seems only fitting on Friday the 13th. Yep, I had a whole lot of spook going on last night. It was the opening night of House of the Dead on the most fitting night of the year! This is Emporium's third iteration of their Haunted Emporium and the 7th pop up to grace this space (most recently & notably the Stranger Things pop up) since the beginning of the year. They couldn't have picked a better theme than Halloween! It was a total haunted house inside this bar. It was fun walking through the place and checking everything out. It was kind of cool that people could sit inside the haunted house and have their drinks. That being said, there isn't enough seating! Unlike past pop ups, there are not any actual tables to sit down at so you have to go in knowing you'll stand or hope to find a seat in the haunted house. They brought in a lot of new items to decorate the bar but I could also see a lot from the last pop-up. I'm all about recycling & reusing but just found it funny there was a huge section of house plants that didn't quitttttte fit in with the theme. And a Christmas tree. Service was friendly and fast. I was happy to encounter no line on a Friday/opening night. It got busy inside but was never unmanageable. They have some special Halloween themed cocktails but also beers, featuring mostly Revolution and mostly eerie names. I ended up having a Rev Red Skull & Pipeworks Dead Inside...for those with no soul like myself MUHAHAHA ebil laugh. Keep in mind, this is on the main drag of places in Logan Square which can turn into a $-show on weekend nights. We saw a bro climb through a tiny window of the haunted house knocking & breaking several glasses as he did this, stumbling to the ground then run screaming out of the bar. Ugh. Had the best time celebrating New Year's Eve 2019!! The emporium was huge, loud and so much fun. Every type of arcade game and pinball game you could imagine was in play. I even got into some myself. I mean, I didn't know what I was doing but it was fun seeing the lights going crazy with noise and colors. Getting to the bar was a chore though. It's probably not as bad after the holidays but everyone and their mama was crowded around the one bar area. I was impressed with the bartenders though, they were on it. I got a few drinks and shots, all good. Course it loosened me up enough to hit the dance floor. Yes, they have one all the way in the back! Right under a disco ball! And back there are more games, a few pool tables (try not to get poked in the stomach by a cue when you pass by!!), and some skeeball lanes. Also there was a photo booth. I mean there was so many things to do and see, it's impossible not to love this place. Was definitely a great spot to celebrate going into 2020! read more

BUSTED STUFF A 2002 Dave Matthews album, or Logan Emporium's current sad state of affairs? 'Tis both, in this case. As a fan of alcohol, the combination of watered-down drinks and beer exclusively in cans is far from ideal, but tolerable. Comes with the territory sometimes, I get it. But as a lover of arcade games, this place makes me weep. We're talking full-on, grown up tears here people. Following dinner at DMen Tap, I stopped here with Maddie B mistaking this Emporium for its other, superior location in nearby Wicker Park. "Whatever", I said to myself, they've still got pool tables, foosball, air hockey, some stand up cabinet games and most importantly, pinball. I went for a Daisy Cutter ($6) as usual and Maddie B had some disgusting $7 passion fruit asswater (although neither of us has sampled the buttjuice, we can only surmise what it might taste like). So that was a hard beer fail, yet we soldiered on. We made our way to the token machines and noticed that 1 of the 2 was displaying a blinky red light....not a good sign. The working one accepted only bills, despite the presence of a (non-functioning) coin slot to convert quarters into tokens. The broken machine had its coin slot taped over, so what's the point of even having one? A placebo effect?? Sheesh. 'Defender' was out-of-service, which is fine, but the "temporarily out of order" sign taped to the coindoor was ripped to shreds. It looked super sloppy and unprofessional, like some toddler/drunk idiot got angry and tried to tear it off. That brings us to the abysmal pinball shtick. I've never in my life seen so many tables switched off or otherwise unplayable. 'Fish Tales', 'Baywatch', 'Firepower', 'Tales From the Crypt', 'Hurricane', 'Playboy', and 'Breakshot' were all dark. That was effectively half of their entire collection. HALF. Now, I did see what appeared to be a techie going around and making notes of all the broken-ass pinballs. Based on prior visits however, "taking notes" is all that ever happens. I was promised an improved pinball situation a year ago, and they straight up failed to deliver the goods. *TL;DR* Fool me once....shame on you. Fool me twice.....still your fault. Fool me three times......you get roasted on Yelp and lose my business indefinitely. I hate to give ANY barcade less then the full five stars, but Logan's Emporium pushed their luck to the breaking point. Half of their sh*t is totally f*cked up and seemingly has been for months/years. As a rule I never, ever give a business 1* after a single visit. Only if the situation doesn't improve (or in this case, worsens) do they plunge down to the lowest tier of approval. They've had AMPLE chances to win me back and have repeatedly let me down. It kills me to say it, but I refuse to feed any more tokens into this place. I'm 100% donezo with these clowns. Bye-bye! read more

If you're looking to go out without getting all done up and just want that "chill" atmosphere, you should check this barcade out. This location is ginormous! It gets pretty busy during the weekends but since its large enough, you can always walk to another part of the bar if one spot gets too crowded. The beer selections is pretty good. They carry a large selection of the Revolution Brewing brand from down the street if you're into that. The "table" games here are my favorite. I love the air hockey tables, the Foosball tables, the team hockey tables. I just wish that there were more of them as those are the games that everyone flocks to and there is almost always a line to play them. They also have a large selection of pinball machines and lots of pool tables. This place even serves food. There is a built in food truck near the entrance to the right when you first come in. The food they serve varies. One night its tacos, the next night it's sliders. You can also bring in outside food to eat such as pizzas, and tamales from the tamale man that makes a cameo at all the bars around this area! *TIP* if you wanna play, there are machines that convert your money into tokens. read more
