What a cute little eclectic shop! I was at Blick Art Supplies a few doors down and stopped here too. Looks like they support lots of independent artists. Lots of cute gifts, washi tape, jewelry, record albums and many books in Japanese. I'm not sure what was in the back, a coffee shop or?

A delightful little curated handmade arts store by local artists. It is near downtown Pasadena so it's an easy walk and well located right next to Blick's Art Store. I picked up a few goodies and found new delightful local artists to follow on social media. The artist spaces were a bit tight and some of the boxes needed better lighting/angles but I love the idea behind it.

There's street and structure parking nearby to get here. It's a cute shop that passing by the window would catch your interest. I really like this concept of various vendors being able to sell their merch in one store. There's loads of artsy items that surely you'll find something. The prices varies but some items might be worth it for you. The staff are nice amd friendly. I'd definitely be back to check inside anytime I'm at Old Town.

I'm obsessed with this cute store. Originally in San Gabriel it just opened up in Old Town this month. When I originally looked it up, it was described as a "used bookstore," on Apple Maps, but used books are only one aspect of it. Its website calls it a "curation hub" where local artists and makers can curate their own shelf. From stickers to jewelry to prints, there were so many things for my eye to explore. I felt like the prices were reasonable for supporting local and there was plenty of items at a variety of price points. The owner was also super nice and we had a lovely conversation about his hometown in Kyoto where I had just visited. I believe they also hold workshops and have a dumpling bag workshop coming this weekend. Would recommend as a local alternative for gift shopping.

I stumbled upon this shop while walking around the neighborhood. They just opened recently. You can find a lot of handmade items here. A good place to check it out if you are looking for gifts and hand made items. I believe they have a perfume workshop on 11/16. Be sure to check it out if you're in the area! I bought cards and stickers and can't wait to come back next time.

Despite this shop's relatively small size, it is packed with goodies. My go-to is always the card section, where I invariably find a card for an upcoming birthday or, even better, the perfect card for a friend who could use a pick-me-up or a good laugh. My stationary drawer is packed with Retreat cards that I've got on the ready and I am very grateful. There is a great range of options in terms of price. You can find very fun patches and charms for around ten dollars. If you are looking a bit higher-end, there is a lovely collection of jewelry: but you are definitely paying for quality work that will be appreciated. Diane and the various employees are invariably friendly and eager to help you find something perfect for your friend or family.

From the moment we walked in, this staff member repeatedly told my daughter not to touch anything. I tried my best to remain very polite and exercised an immense amount of patience, pushing it to the absolute limit just to shop in peace. The breaking point was right as we were about to leave, when my daughter picked up an animal finger puppet. The employee condescendingly lectured my toddler, telling her she shouldn't touch anything, and publicly shamed her by saying she had "very sticky fingers and nails and hands" and demanding, "Look at your hands." At that point, my patience ran out. I told her directly that she was being incredibly rude and that this would be the absolute last time I would ever visit that store. To speak to a 3-year-old child that way is unprofessional and unacceptable. A business that treats families with such open disrespect does not deserve our community's support. It was my first time entering this shop, and it will safely be my last. Save your money and shop somewhere that understands basic customer service and human decency.

Wow, this is no ordinary gift store…read more There are quite a few shops selling home wares, cards, candles and other gift-y items on Mission Street in South Pasadena. This place, however immediately stands out. When I passed by the store the first time I was struck by a collection of headwear: a beaded cap from the Congo and a hat from the Miao people of China and Southeast Asia. I'm an anthropologist, so I was hooked. This store has an incredibly curated collection: folk altars and santos from Latin America, bronze Buddhist statues and jewelry from around the world. The owner is quite a world traveler and it shows in her collection. Definitely a place for the culturally curious. Along with the numerous artifacts are small gifts: some wonderfully fragrant soaps (my favorites were rose geranium and patchouli/sandalwood), beeswax candles and some interesting kitchenware. People might find some items pricy...however, having done some research, most things are very reasonably priced for the quality. Definitely recommend.

30 YEARS OF BUSINESS IN PASADENA AND NOT EXTINCT!…read more I was one of those dinosaur kids growing up and I know I would have loved this place if I visited as a kid. Heck, learning of its existence, I love it even now as an adult. Everything is very dinosaur themed and very geared towards both children and the community. They have events that support the community too such as book readings and much more. Make sure to join their email list before checking out. I love that they also have cute dinosaur themed gift wrapping paper too. I think a neat touch that they have is all the dinosaur art that they have on the walls as well as the cute dinosaur trinkets and toys that they have all around. I love the variety of little plastic dinosaur figurines that they have. Probably the most diversity of species that I have seen and in the most sizes too. Some which I have never even heard of, so much more than the stereotypical T-rex and Triceratops that you can find anywhere else. Also, fear not, there are toys and other goods for the other children in your family/party who may not be as dinosaur inclined if that is your worry. I got a really neat Dinosaur Farm t-shirt there (they come in blue and green) and a little figure for my desk. It def more of a toy store geared towards children than a super educational museum store towards geeky adults, but that's fine with me too! As a dino enjoyer, I support all ventures into the prehistoric practice!
