Best 9 hole course in Phoenix imo. Pros: - least expensive course in Phoenix that has actually decent grass. - easy and fast tee times or walk on - they have some par 4 holes that require wood and there are two holes you can break out the driver. - beautiful Phoenix weather and vibe with mountains in the background - the coldest water fountain on earth is at the 4th/7th hole. If you're playing in the summer, you're going to want a water refill right about here. Ice cold filtered water, better than my fridge! I always walk but if you want a cart be aware they don't have that many and can run out. They have a practice green but if you want a driving range you'll need to go a block up the street to encanto 18. Greens are decently maintained. Most holes are fairly straight; not a ton of obstacles or turns. If you are terrible at golf like I am, this offers plenty of challenge. Longest hole is about 360 if I recall correctly. No water. Only one or two bunkers on the whole course that I remember. No cart service that I recall. So you'll want to bring drinks/snacks along with you. But look, if you want a good, quick, cheap round of 9 at a good course with decent grass, there are few better options on the entire planet. I love Encanto 9 and highly recommend it for the casual golfer. Prices are very low. During summer they can be crazy low. (Like $9 sometimes). You can play another round for $5 if I recall, any time of year. You can go before work in the morning and get 9 in. During the week there aren't too many people there. I mean it's full but not packed. You can often just walk on with no tee time. Service is friendly. Clubhouse is adequate. They have a great water fountain with sonic style ice that I love. No restaurant or bar. They have a fridge with drinks but nothing fancy at all. Kirov coffee and microwaveable snacks. But you're not coming for the food, you're coming for the sub-$20 round of 9 in an hour on good grass. read more

This is a great executive 9-hole course. Very good for beginners as most holes are par 3 with a few par 4s. They don't have too many carts (although within the last year they added some) so make a reservation if you don't want to walk. The fairways and the greens are in fairly good condition. The third hole is next to a fairly busy street and the fence is not that high -- I accidentally shot a ball right into the street (I am not that good) and luckily it did not hit any cars -- that would have been very bad luck! Other than that my son and I very much enjoyed playing the 9-hole course. Make sure when you call for reservations you call the 9 hole, they also have an 18-hole course that is a different number. They close around 7pm (although we were still playing a little past that). If you use a cart they want it returned by 6:15pm. We did see a very beautiful sun set from the course. Definitely will be back! read more

I played the Encanto 9 for the first time with my 3 grandsons all under 10 years - we had a great time! The guy at check-in was super friendly. The tees, greens and fairways were in great shape!! The course was very busy and it was a bit slow on a few holes but not bad at all. We are definitely going back!! 5:52 tee time and still in the office by 8:30. Quick, fun course. Some standing water in a few places for no reason. Fun to hit some par 3s and 4s. Short enough par 4s to give you a chance at birdie. I will be back for sure. read more

Couldn't ask for better! This is a wonderful 9 hole course! I visited Phoenix and am a beginner golfer traveling with a dog. They are pet friendly as well as just very friendly! I went 3 times & it was a delight every time. Reggie in the pro shop is so friendly! We visited on weekday mornings in November so there were many tee time spots open. The driving range is over at the 18 hole course but I had time for a breakfast ball. The rental was a brand new set. There were people walking dogs, jogging, golfing, you name it. This place was right up my alley. Groundskeepers were friendly and they even have an adorable dog! Phoenix will become my new vacation spot, and Encanto 9 is my favorite read more

This was a new one for me, and I had a great time. Played the round with a nice lady from the neighborhood, and she was a great help. There are carts available, but just borrow (rent) a push cart. Better to appreciate the beauty of this gem. read more

Great quick executive course. Straight fairways made challenging. Mud from recent rains and poor drainages added an unwelcome hurdle to walking this very cozy 9 hole course. Overall, will play again soon!! read more

This is probably the best beginners course in PHX, it is extremely reasonable price wise, and the staff is super friendly.

This course is great, but honestly the only reason I'm writing this is because the attendant, Reggie is a phenomenal employee. He has a spectacular attitude, and was tremendously helpful. My bad had huge hole in the bottom and i needed duct tape and cardboard to fix it. I will comeback here time and time again just to see Reggie, and because fo the amazing service he provided. Hiring people like that is how you win at business. read more

Short course. Three par 4's, 6 par 3's. Lots of beginners and people who obviously have never golfed in their life. It can take over 2 hours to complete 9 short holes if you play at peak hours. If you're a decent golfer, you will find the pace extremely slow. If you complain, you're the odd person out! Fair warning! If you're deadly serious about the game, go elsewhere. Otherwise, the course is in good shape. Greens are well-kept. Easy walk. The staff is great! Get a tee time and just enjoy getting out! read more

Great Muni course, I like it because it is close and convenient. The city of Phoenix is doing a better job of maintaining the courses overall. However, it is a affordable public golf course and it comes with ok fairways and greens with numerous divots, dings and general abuse from wear and tear of weekend ball hackers. There's quite a bit of trash and cigarette butts on the place but this comes with the territory I guess. The customer service is average the people working the pro shop are nice and cool once you get to know them. The course break down is six par three's and three par four's. The par four's being holes one, five and nine. Bottom Line: We pay for what we get and $12.00 for a walking 9 round of golf is a good deal for a el cheapo like myself. read more

Very well maintained short 9 hole course. City and mountain views. The greens and fairways are maintained very well and there are trees everywhere. Paid $12 to walk and I thought that was a good deal for the middle of march. They had $1.50 pbr beers if you are into drinking and playing. Very friendly gentleman in the pro shop as well. The Encanto 9 Executive Golf Course is part of the City of Phoenix Parks & Recreation Dept. We have played here several times in the past and always enjoy the course. It features a full-service pro shop with helpful staff. For business people in town for meetings, conventions, etc., it offers a chance for a quick game being located so conveniently close to downtown. read more
