Very nice course with a wonderful staff at affordable pricing. We used our Troon card and had no issues securing a noon tee time. With winter temps warmer in the afternoon, a midday tee time was preferred. I enjoyed the back nine over the front. I thought the back nine was more picturesque. Being new to the course and golfing with another couple who were also first-timers, we had no issues figuring out where to go. There is one blind hole but there was a button system in place so you did not hit into anyone. Fairways and greens were in great shape. One water hole on the course and a couple of desert areas to hit over. Sand was not a major factor. Very nice experience. read more

The staff is horrible! from the beginning to the end. Pro shop staff are unprofessional and extremely rude, should all be fired! My friend had issues booking our teetime because of a computer glitch on their part which we see has been mentioned in other reviews, turned out she had booked 2 reservations .The pro shop employee yelled at my friend and became rude. he told her if she did it again, she would be charged and then they accused her of stealing balls because the employee didn't charge her for them! We ended up having to call the police. Do not golf here, it's a nightmare! Security guards should be fired. the course is a dog track, in horrible shape. read more

The course: First 5 holes were meh, fairways are not in great condition and not much of a scenery. But everything gets better after hole number 6. Yes, there were some minor brown patches on the fairways but nothing major. The views from hole number 10 mens black tee box is amazing. After this, all my focus totally got shifted to the beautiful Phoenix Mountain preserve. LOL. Price: Ok, I really don't get any commission for mentioning teeoff.com but I couldn't resist as I find so many good golf deals. Cooler on cart: TWO! Enough room for bottle waters and neck cooling towels. Ice machine: starter area. Comfort station: Both front 9 and back 9 have very CLEAN bathroom, not the portable. A+ in this department. Note: The logistics between the course and the bag drop / checkin 'pro shop' area is not that great. If this is your first golf trip to Lookout Mountain, the entrance for bag drop and checking in is at the Point in Tyme restaurant. Do not go to the golf course directly. Otherwise, you will need at least another 8 minutes to turn around and head back to the top, depending on incoming traffic. Or, 10 to 15 minutes walk/trek uphill, roughly par 4 distance. Background: I am an avid golfer. I do not have the distance but I hit straight and on the fairway 99.9% of the time. And I have a solid short game. My HCP is between 30 and 35. I review basic requirements from a golf course which I believe most lady golfers can appreciate: esthetic, character, and female friendliness. read more

We played on a Thursday in early February. The course was in fine shape, except for some of the sand traps. Like a lot of Arizona courses, there wasn't much sand in many of the traps. However, the rest of the course was great. We played in just over four hours. And of course, the scenery was spectacular. From the time we signed up until the time we finished, our interactions with the people there were all very pleasant. I certainly recommend playing this course. read more

If this place was on fire and i had to piss,, i would hold it and let it burn. Shocked anyone still plays here. My buddy and i spent more time waiting on people than playing. If you charge people more than $50 to play (we payed over $250) on these conditions the very least you could do is not overbook the course. From what one of the locals said"this is normal". What a joke. Will demand a refund tomorrow when they open again. Pro shop was closed when we got done. We started at 1pm and its dark now. Disappointed Regular: Inconsistent Service at Lookout Mountain Golf Club. 2/13 12:50. As a long-time regular at Lookout Mountain Golf Club, I've always appreciated the scenic beauty and challenging layout of the course. However, my recent experience left me deeply disappointed and questioning whether I'll return. Having a Troon card has been a perk, providing not only discounted rates but also including a cart. So, upon arrival, I was taken aback when informed that carts were unavailable, and I was required to pair up with another golfer or pay an additional $35 for a cart. This contradicted the very essence of the Troon card program, which promises inclusive cart services. If they are out of carts, I get it. They have well over 30 sitting with golfers coming off 18 everything 15 mins. The confusion escalated when I noticed numerous carts sitting unused outside. When I raised this concern, the response from the pro shop lacked any semblance of customer service. The explanation provided - "we don't know who else will come" - only added to the frustration. Even the cart attendants seemed baffled by the inconsistency. This experience felt like a blatant money grab, leaving me feeling undervalued as a loyal patron. The lack of transparency and disregard for customer satisfaction tarnished my perception of a course I once held in high regard. Ultimately, it's not just about the carts; it's about the principle of fair treatment and honoring the promises made through programs like the Troon card. As a regular, I expected better, and sadly, Lookout Mountain Golf Club failed to meet those expectations. Until there's a clear commitment to consistent service and genuine customer care, I'll be taking my golfing elsewhere. If management responds with we didn't have carts and have others after your tee time, that's flat out wrong. I can book tee times every 20 mins from 2:10 through 4:40 so afternoon bookings don't seem to be a problem. read more

Several picturesque golf holes for an overall enjoyable round with great customer service from all staff. Had a hard time thinking of what kind of review I wanted to write. First, The course is in great condition, greens are very fast, and the marshalls, starter, cart girl, pro shop, and the whole crew were all very helpful. Parking here sucks! You have to share the parking lot with the hotel. Depending on the time of day, parking lot is full. Was told there was some kind of construction, which caused the issues. Time of play, speaking of today. Very slow! We teed off at 12:40, after the front nine we were doing ok. Played the front nine at 2hrs and 20 minutes. However the back nine was backed up. Had to wait about ten minutes on each hole. By the time we got to the 15th hole, it was 4:30. And it was backed up with two groups in front of us waiting. We decided to pack it in, and call it a day. I'll come back in the summer when it's less crowded and cheaper. I still had a great time, can't wait to hit this course again. read more

As for the golf course I love it what a layout with many tees to play from. The greens were excellent and fast. There was plenty of water on the course and a beverage cart. Kinda of a weird layout when you get your cart you have to drive it about a 1/4 mile to the range and course. The greens were playing super quick so keep that in mind. Horrible experience for a $210 green fee. Course was in moderate condition, horrible sands and beat up cart paths. Played a 4 hour and 45 min round because some clowns playing a scramble tourney. Marshall was called on hole 8 from the group ahead of us. Marshall claimed he was going to do something and nothing was handled. Got to 18 3 groups backed up with seeing 6 carts with 12 clowns sitting the fairway messing around. Horrible experience for a $210 green fee. read more

The course is in excellent condition, and provided for a very challenging, but fair, round. We were greeted at the bag drop by very friendly and accommodating attendants. They got our clubs onto a cart, provided towels for on course use, and directed us to the pro shop. it was a bit of a drive to the starter shack, but we were again greeted in a very welcoming manner, and pointed towards the driving range for provided range balls. I wish that we had come a little earlier for our tee time so that i could have warmed up a bit more. My wife and I were paired with two other singles, and they provided great company. Pace of play was very appropriate. We needed a little time to figure out some of the targets, but the provided yardage card gave appropriate information. Yardages were well marked both on the tees, as well as sprinkler heads. read more

We golfed twice here this week and love this course. It has some really nice advantages from the forward tees and the ball goes a mile on the dry surfaces. Staff is nice and there are great views. Tee off before 8 am for a cooler round in the summer. Plenty of drinking water on the course. Great pricing through GolfNow. Sometimes the pro shop can natch it other times they won't. I FINALLY got a chance to play Lookout Mountain Golf course at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Resort in north Phoenix! I've always wanted to play this course because it looks so challenging with all its multiple elevation changes. My chance came when I was invited as a guest this past weekend. I was so excited I cleaned my golf clubs twice just waiting for my tee time!! Let me just say that one of the first challenges you will face is where to check in. Most online maps will take you to the driving range/first hole and starter building. The actual registration office is in the Resort complex. There are street signs so be on the lookout for where to turn in off 7th street. Once you get to the bag drop/pro shop, everything is first class! Your car will have your name on it so you know exactly where to go. Check in is flawless and the course attendants really are fantastic with their customer service. The course itself is a par 72 championship course that winds its way around the north range of lookout mountains in Phoenix. Based among open desert and million dollar homes, its a challenging, target golf course. The course plays 6500 yards from the championship tees and just under 6000 from the middle. Some of the tee shots have a long carry, so judge accordingly which tees will best suit your game. Since the course plays continuously without returning to the start location, there is a well supplied snack bar at the turn. The cafe has hot and cold sandwiches, drinks and snacks and you will be warned about the food stealing squirrels! So keep your food safely packed on hole number 10. All in all, Lookout Mountain is a fabulous course. I hope i get to play it again and enjoy this wonderful experience. read more

Teed off with golf now at 2pm for a 5:36pm sunset, knowing that our mediocre foursome wouldn't finish the round. We just wanted to be sure to make it to the signature 10th hole (the highest-elevation tee box in Phoenix). The course was in excellent condition. The middle holes are the most fun, as they make spectacular use of the mountain; the opening and closing holes are fine but unremarkable. I found the course to be very generous off the tee. As other reviewers have noted, it can be very confusing to know where to enter the property and where to park. Many good things have been said about the snack shop before the 10th hole, but the "food ordering phone" on the 8th tee box wasn't working. The 7th hole is a really cool par 5 with multiple elevation changes. read more

Will not golf here again. The course was fine and the course marshalls were fine. However, the fellow in the pro shop was awful. We had computer problems when we booked the tee times on line and could not get a confirmation. Due to the computer error, we exited the web site and then went right back in and tried again. The second time it worked. We got a confirmation email so all was good. When we arrived in Phoenix from Vancouver and got to the golf course, we found out we had in fact 6 tee times instead of 3. The fellow in the pro shop was NOT very helpful and made us pay for the extra 3 tee times even though we explained what must have happened. It cost us an extra $486 USD for what we felt was their web site's error. They did not care. REALLY BAD PR! Given all the choices of places to golf in Phoenix, we would never go back there given the way they treated us. read more

This might've been the worst golfing experience I've ever had. Played this course a year ago and had a blast. Went back this weekend with a couple buddies who were in town visiting and was severely disappointed. We tee'd off at 2:20 and because the marshals on the course allowed it to get incredibly backed up, we only finished 12 holes. The beverage cart girl managed to standout ... as the rudest, least personable person at a course filled with them. Many groups tapped out at the 9th hole knowing they weren't getting more than a 12 in. Not sure if they got any money back, but we did not. Overall it was a joke and I would never recommend playing the course, unless you want to pay $100 to have a horrible experience. Which is unfortunate because this is a 5-star course but the 1-star staff ruins it. read more

Lookout Mountain is worth your time if your in the area or on a golf trip. First couple holes give you a sense that the course is really easy and can score low...but then you begin to experience some very challenging tee shots heading to the back 9.....you'll feel almost like you transitioned courses on the back 9....in a good way lol conditions were great, staff was great, great pace of play, only thing I'd recommend is moving the golf shop to the practice/1st tee box area...plenary of land to build a nice sized golf shop there. Having to park at the resort/hotel wasn't easy if your there for only golf... also, check out the restraint, really nice setting and great food and drink selection. I will play here again. read more

Last time I was here I was paired with the head instructor that was giving a playing lesson for six holes. Super nice guy and made the round that much more enjoyable. I actually really enjoy this course. It is challenging but not overly hard. A bonus of getting free range balls with your round is always nice. Many shots from the fairways that you take are not on a flat lie. However this time of year, if your course isn't in decent shape, you get a lower mark. Their greens are in pretty good shape but I found myself hitting on dead fairway or hitting from spotty grass around the greens. When you are not rewarded for hitting the ball in the fairway, it is a little hard to have fun. I can tell that they are trying to help by overwatering but this leads to the other problem of soggy grass. This is also a problem on the course and I often found myself hitting in a wet lie when I shouldn't have been. I have played here many times and probably will again. read more

Let me start by saying, this is not a course one should walk. The elevation changes would really punish you. Tee to greens were in great shape. Well maintained fairways, some narrow but are aesthetically pleasing. Not a lot of water but plenty of bunkers which are well placed. The greens keeper must have been mad because the pin placements were challenging. Made it fun though. The greens were very smooth, fast and true. Lots of elevation changes which made for awesome scenery. Loved the view from tee box 10. I would play this again for sure. read more

This is a fun track with tight landing zones, elevation changes, and smooth rolling fast greens. The course wasn't in great shape due to overseeding coming up in a couple of weeks and after the first hole, I wondered what I had got myself into as it looks like a muni goat track for the first few holes. Give it time and the course becomes beautiful the deeper into it you get. Hopefully with in season, the course won't look so dumpy in the first few holes. I didn't get a chance to check out the practice facility but you'll want to make sure you park at the hotel parking lot as you check in there & get your cart then drive down to the range and first tee. I made the mistake of pulling in to the range then had to turn around and go up the street! Overall, course was fun to play but definitely target golf for the back 9. read more

Had a great round here a few weeks back! This was my first golf experience on the west coast and it was awesome. The hills, the views, the lack of trees.... A+. The sheer amount of space for me to still lose the ball... F, but that's more of a reflection of my own poor golfing than of the course, of course. Although we arrived a bit late, carts and bags were ready for us to head towards the range immediately and we were on the first tee within 15 minutes. Once we teed off (poorly), the course brought us all kinds of happiness and sadness; there were hills, dog-legs, beer breaks, cigar breaks, club breaks, balls in yards, long short games, backs thrown, cactus pics... and so much more. Overall, a wonderful day on a beautiful course. I only wish I was better at golf to really challenge the course, instead of the course constantly calling me challenged (not PC, course!). Would love to come back! Protip: you better play all 18. Turning around at 9 is a 3 mile trip back to the clubhouse. Bonus: Cool little clubhouse bar to laugh about your game or kill some time before your tee time read more
