Beware - Fraudulent Behavior by Paradise Events and Liting Chan…read more I paid a deposit of nearly $23,000 to Paradise Events and Liting Chan for floral décor four years ago. The wedding was canceled due to Covid (the planning service fee of $6000 was paid separately), and no flower décor were ever provided. Despite multiple attempts to contact her via calls and emails, she has refused to respond or refund my money. I have since left Canada and the deposit was lost forever. Her actions are dishonest and unprofessional--avoid doing business with them if you don't want to risk losing your money.

There is definitely at least one back room, but the main dining room is a bright, airy space that has access to a patio where may even be some live music playing. The tables are gorgeous - all live edge, which might create a bit of an issue if you have short arms and are used to stealing bites across the table, but they are absolutely beautiful and a nice nod to the area. The wine list is extensive and a bit overwhelming, but the service is happy, friendly, and very knowledgeable. In fact, I love when servers don't know, admit it, and find the answer for you - it's humble and shows they really care at getting you what you want. We got the orange wine, which is a new favorite of mine. It's like a rose for reds. Rose:White::Orange:Red. More savory, still light, and best chilled. We had the beet hummus app, which is definitely best eaten with your hands. It's light and delicious. We had the miso black cod, a personal favorite, and the lasagna for dinner and while both were good, the accoutrements with the cod were the true standout. Amazing and I could probably eat two of them. As the restaurant operates on a seasonal menu, we had a strawberry rhubarb cobbler for dessert. I know there is Sunday Brunch, and I can't wait to try it. It's not the cheapest, but it's one of the nicer restaurants in Whatcom, and is definitely worth your pennies. From planning to execution the process was flawless. Krystal and I discussed the color scheme and what I envisioned. I was given the option to customize the deserts and snacks provided as well as the games and activities (yard sign connect four, polaroid camera, cards with questions, etc). Krystal truly created a beautiful picnic and my daughter and her friends loved it. I was concerned that in the event the weather didnt improve (it was raining and hailing) that the globe would be okay. Krystal ensured me that the rain wouldnt be a problem and that she had a heater in the event it got too cold. The weather ended up shifting to sunny and warm last minute but we were able to unzip flaps on the globe for airflow to adjust. The overall set up and take down was pretty quick and very organized. Cassandra picked up and was very happy and perky when she answered - my whole background is customer service and too many places don't get how important that is and what an impression that makes. I liked her right away. While the phone rang I was thinking I wanted a clown or gorilla, something funny and ridiculous and wasn't sure what I could use from these guys. Right when we started talking I realized a random Batman appearance would be hilarious - especially when she said he was a professional actor AND singer and would do the voice. OMG...THIS GUY. Let me tell you, he is a STAR and should be friggin' famous. He NAILED IT. You know someone has a natural talent when they put their all into what they do and has a natural charm. He did a phenomenal job mortifying her with his over-the-top entrance just as I'd hoped, gave her the balloon, card and rose, sang Happy Birthday and danced/sang to what I said was her "theme song" Milkshake . She almost couldn't breathe she was laughing so much. He took pictures and when they found out we both had kids, he did baby shark and a special video for our sons. They even did videos for us, including the Batman theme song LOL! I'm telling you, their singing telegram section should be more featured. This was shockingly way above and beyond what I expected, thoughtful, professional, friendly and fun and considering the manager called a meeting so everyone would be there to enjoy the spectacle, I HIGHLY recommend hiring Out of the Rain and embarrassing your family or friends at work (with company permission of course) giving them a great, special surprise they won't forget. I can't thank your company enough, our faces still hurt from smiling.
