One of our members has been recommending this place for two years as a venue for our monthly retirement luncheons. I finally put it on this year's schedule and planned to go with a group of ten. But, as the day drew nearer, folks just started cancelling for various reasons, until we finally ended up with a party of five today. When we arrived, I was surprised at just how much of a "bar and grill" this was. I started getting nervous about the food. I know we've all been to bars that had horrible food before. Fortunately, this is not one of those bars.The food here was really good. We started with an order of fried mushrooms served with gravy and deviled eggs. I'm not a fan of fried food, but the others all seemed to enjoy them. There was a huge mound of them that all but disappeared. I opted for the deviled eggs- one of my favorite foods. These were topped with a crunchy strip of bacon and served with a pile of pickled jalapeno slices. The were super delicious! On our member's recommendation, I tried the orange chicken served with fried rice for my entree, as did two others. I was overwhelmed with the gobs of food the server sat in front of me. There were at least twenty bite-sized nuggets of chicken sitting on top of a bed of fried rice. That bed was obviously a California King! They were lightly covered in the orange sauce, but still crunchy. It was a very satisfying meal. I had the other half for supper, and it was almost as delicious heated up in the microwave. One of our people had a pepperoni pizza. It was probably about 18". The crust was amazingly thin. It just looked awesome to me. My friend enjoyed it, but carried a lot home with her. The fifth person in our group had the Reuben sandwich. She said it was delicious, but was put off by the amount of fat on the meat. Encore makes their own pastrami. The chef explained to her that the fat on the pastrami was what most people thought made it such a delicious meat. I know it looked great to me. I will most likely have that next time I visit, and there will be a next time. read more

The staff is attentive. The place is small so that you cannot slip into here unnoticed. The owner and chef has created his own seasoning mix and puts it on everything. We headed to Encore Grill tonight for dinner. We made it in time for happy hour, which ends at 6pm. Wells drink were $4.25. We started with potato skins and 8-piece BBQ Wings. Hubby had the Tacos. Dad and I shared the Hong Kong Sea Bass. Loved the sauce! Great service from Allen. Highly recommend this place. They will be expanding and will soon have live music and comedians. read more

Nice neighborhood Bar & Grill. Cool rock and roll 'n roll vibe with the guitars on the wall. The Staff was nice, although the Bartender was the server as well which sometimes kept him preoccupied. The food was pretty good. We ordered the Cobb and Caesar salads which were fully loaded and I had the Dublin Club. All were pretty good, except the Texas toast on my Club was a tad over done and compressed. I typically Iike that to be a little thicker and not as grilled. Either way, it was good but the star for me was the French fries. They used some seasoning that had a hint of BBQ chips to it. Pretty good! Definitely gonna pop in, especially on a weekend night and see what they have going on. This place was really a surprise to me, it's located just off the 1604 loop in a little new plaza. Food: 5***** all the way! Idk what these guys do to this orange chicken, I think they put crack in it. So freaking good, trust me, I'm a foodie and I love it! You will too! Also had the club sandwich, yummy. And the cheeseburger, yeah perfectly cooked and the fires are also seasoned well. Service: 5***** the staff here is so attentive and nice! They will make sure your drinks are perfect, your food is good and they genuinely care about your experience. Ambiance: I won't rate this with stars because this is subjective. Personally, I like it here. Cool decorations and tv's throughout, so you can literally sit anywhere in here and see a tv. They also have TouchTunes. WARNING: Avoid this establishment. I feel obligated to warn others because my experience here was so unacceptable! Also, according to other reviews this is not the first time something like this has occurred. The bartender appeared unable to keep tabs or receipts straight, and from my perspective seemed to be drinking while working. Whether that was the cause or not, the service and handling of customer payments were completely unacceptable. My credit card was charged three separate times. When I questioned the charges, instead of looking into the issue, the bartender immediately became defensive and suggested I was too intoxicated to remember making purchases. That accusation was absurd because I had one drink. He then claimed all three receipts had different signatures and laughed about it. If anything, that should have been a red flag that something was wrong. He also insisted it would have been impossible to charge my card multiple times because I would have had to present it each time, which simply was not my experience. To make matters worse, when I asked to close my tab, he initially gave me a total of $13 and change, even though my actual bill was $47, which I corrected and paid. My purchases consisted of one drink for myself, one for my partner, and two drinks for a friend so nothing that should have resulted in the confusion or additional charges I later discovered. Rather than accepting responsibility or trying to resolve the issue, the bartender suggested that my coworker must have stolen my card and used it, then refused to issue a refund, saying a chargeback was "too much work" and that he was not going to do it. He actually suggested I go after my coworker for the money instead. To make matters even worse, my friend was also incorrectly charged after drinks were added to her tab that were not hers. Based on my experience, this establishment has serious issues with how customer tabs and credit card transactions are handled. I would strongly encourage anyone who visits to carefully review every receipt and monitor their bank statements afterward. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this shady establishment. read more

We were a party of seven that frequented the Encore Bar and Grill on 11/15/25, following a dinner at Bourbon Street Seafodd Kitchen, across the street. We were greeted immediately by our server, Jacqueline who took our orders quickly and engagingly. They offer a range of specialty cocktails as well as 6 various types of Red Bull cocktails. We told her we had never been to the place before. Shortly thereafter the owner and chef came to the table to introduce himself to us. He thanked us for our patronage. He proceeded to tell us that he cooks all the food fresh from scratch. On the menu is appetizers, salads, sandwiches, " build your own burger ", steaks & seafood, house specialties and six offerings of hot dogs! Before we knew it, Jacqueline was delivering to the table, a plate of queso and chips courtesy of the chef! We were also greeted by the bar manager, Jeremiah, who came to the table to introduce himself and asked how everything was. He also told us that immediately next-door they're pushing out the wall and expanding and creating a stage and private event space. He provided his cell phone number to us and told us to contact him if we would like to book the private event space in the future. The chips and queso were delicious. You could tell that they were all homemade. We all agreed as a group that we would be returning for their happy hour and to dine. It's a cute little neighborhood bar reminiscent of Cheers with that "Hey Norm!" feeling. Give them a go if you ever have the opportunity. read more

Giving to 2 stars because the only good here is the food. Service is non existent, and it was not busy at all. Our server kept walking by our table and not checking in on us. Had to go to the bar and have our server give me the waters I asked for. 3rd time here and I'm not coming back at all. I blame management for not training their staff. The first time we came here it was the same...however they had recently opened so I knew they were working out all kinks and such. Second time we came, the service was a lot better. So we decided to come back and it was back to being ignored. Again, they were not busy and when we did try to get our server's attention she wouldn't look our direction. The location is now open. The staff were super nice and very attentive. It has a cool 80's rock n roll vibe like the bars that hosted live local music. Guitars and images on the wall. A digital jukebox with 70s and 80s music. There are TVs on the walls .. lots of sports showing. The menu had a little of everything. I went for the truffle fries appetizer, of course! Good flavor and more than enough for the table. I followed with a Dublin Club sandwich that was stacked higher than I could wrap my hands around. All in all, it was a good experience. Another round of amazing food! We missed seeing Gary and Lydia (sp?), but the food didn't disappoint. We tried the nachos, club sandwich and fish & chips! I had been wanting to try this place and glad I finally did. I was there on a late Friday afternoon. The place was quiet but the staff were very attentive and friendly. I ordered the fish and chips platter and it was delicious! The fish was crunchy and very flavorful. The fries were perfectly seasoned (with a seasoning they sell). I thought I could tackle finishing the plate because it was so good but it was too much. They have a great happy hour. This is our second go around here and the first wasn't a fluke. The rock and roll vibe is still there! It was great all around. What sets this sports bar apart from others is the FOOD! The menu reads like a much different restaurant, with selections you don't normally see at sports bar. Our last visit we had one of this pizzas, which was fantastic. This time around I had their make-your-own-burger and it came out perfect! Very nice sized patty and fresh condiments. My wife had the orange chicken, which another yelp reviewer said it was "like crack" and it was. Probably the best orange chicken we've had here in San Antonio. The owner came out to visit and suggested we try his bread pudding, which he claimed was one of the best.. It was AMAZING...I'm not a particularly fond of desserts, but this was great. We thought it had chocolate in it but he said it was just the spices etc. He also mentioned that everything is scratch. He sells on the side his seasoning, which we bought last visit. It is really good on almost everything, but I like it on grilled food. Our waitress was friendly and took good of us. 1st time- Met up with a buddy on a Saturday afternoon to have a cold one and watch the SA Brahmas. Lot's of TV's with all types of sports on. Brahmas were not on-asked the waitress/server if she could find it, she was real chill about the request, no worries. A cook hanging out in the back helped her find the channel. Service was good. $10 pizza was big, but crust was a little soggy- still worth the price if your not a picky eater looking for a little pub grub to go with your beer. Very clean. Very pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting much since this has to be the third or fourth restaurant in this spot. Had a beer and a gin martini. They have a good selection of bottled/can beers and a full bar. Bartender was friendly and engaging and made a gin martini to rival any I've had in town. Delicious! I came in for dinner on a Monday at 7. I was the only customer, so all the employees kept joking about it and that was kind of awkward, but they were very nice. I liked the music and the space, and the chairs were so comfortable! I normally hate sitting on barstools because they are small and hard, but these were wide and cushioned and it was so nice. I got the chicken fried steak and I was blown away! So delicious. The mashed potatoes had a ton of garlic, and the green beans were more lightly seasoned so they balanced it perfectly. Great food and an awfully good neighborhood bar. The food is high end restaurant quality. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp and the fish and chips. It is no exaggeration to say that both were easily in the top percentile for those dishes. The bar has a great atmosphere. There is a small patio and the live music was very good.
