I've worked a dozen or more events through Encore. I liked the availability of jobs and likelihood of getting booked. Rates were standard (usu. $16 and up to $20/hr for a BA). I was usually given good info about the job and locations. Website/applying for events: Their website is pretty dysfunctional. It usually doesn't work on my iPhone and I once suggested they improve it's usability to increase talent response time (so they don't have to go to a computer to confirm a job) they basically said they weren't interested in changing it. O...K... Even though they have a poll on the main page that says 80-90% of their talent pool has a smartphone. And even when I'm using the site on my Mac, I've almost never been able to update my photos and resume without contacting their tech desk. Though reviewing available jobs and confirming them is straight-forward and simple. Problems on the job: Most assignments went off without too much of a hitch (sometimes meeting locations were poorly organized and explained), although I did a dry liquor demo that was actually two separate assignements, and had about two locations each I had to demo at, and each location had no clue I was going to be there, even when speaking with their managers, they didn't know that was the day I would be there and said I came at a bad time (I came at the time I was instructed to)... I was thoroughly confused and had to talk them into letting me demo! Pay schedule: However, the worst part is that it routinely took over 30 days to pay, often times up to 3 months, and for one job about four months had passed before I was paid! And if they, as they say, aren't paying BAs until the client pays, how are they running their operation with numerous clients paying months late and seeming to just sit on their hands until the money shows up? I know as an independent contractor, they can pay whenever they feel like it, but it's an insult as well as disrespectful to the talent they hire not to pay in a generally accepted time frame (30 days or less) and I have since availed myself to other employers who value someone's need to pay rent every month. read more

I have to give them credit that I called twice and Tammy did answer the phone so that is a plus. I worked a Facebook event and got paid in 10 days so I liked that. I picked up a couple of fun shifts working for Castello Cheese in Fremont and San Jose in early August. Why is it Sept 11 and I still haven't seen a cent of that money? And I haven't been offered any events in the last three weeks. Tammy just seemed overwhelmed on the phone. I'm disappointed and won't take any more events with them unless it's guarenteed to be paid out in a short time like Facebook's event. read more

I was recommended to jobpail by a friend and thought that I would get paid on time for my work with them--I didn't! I was told after 2 weeks of waiting it would be another 3-5 weeks before I get my check. I wish I read the comments here before, because I could have saved myself time. If you want to work for FREE this is a good place, but if you have bills to pay, don't do it. It's tempting, and that's how they get you. I always wonder how these agencies find it so easy to stay in touch with talent once they're booked for an event but become ghost once the event has passed. 11/7 will make exactly two months since I worked an event I secured through this agency ... And you guessed it ... I'm still waiting for payment. I'm pretty sure their IC says payment is processed 4-7 weeks post event . Well, this is week 8 and I'm without payment and I've gotten some pissy explanation about it could take up to 8-10 weeks when I sent an email inquiry . I fronted some of my own money to accommodate the unprepared client and at this point, all I want is my compensation. Being made to wait because they are unable to collect from their client in a timely manner is unprofessional. If cash flow is the issue, the agency needs to revisit their business plan. I think talents are taken advantage of too often in this industry. I do BA work because it is fun and is a means for some extra cash... But this wait is enough to make me throw in the towel. My Husband and I were both Brand Ambassadors for a Coffee Promotion. We made a very good amount of money. The Staffing coordinator Erikah was great. The company has a FAQ that states it takes 7 weeks to get your pay. It does take 7 weeks and at 7 weeks they did mail our checks. We cashed our checks today, so they definitely pay on time. The only reason they don't get a full 5 stars is because 7 weeks is a very long time to wait to get paid for an event. I think 30 days would be far more reasonable. Overall, this company gets a good review from me because they paid well and the work was what they said it was. read more

The only good things about this company are the pay and availability of jobs. They took FOREVER to pay, and I mean, forever! I realize that delays can happen but I waited around 4 months to get my check which in turn almost got me evicted from my apartment! The property manager was not very happy but they did work with me. If you would need to solely rely on the income from this type of work to make ends meet, please reconsider working for this company as they take way too long to pay. The owner shouldn't treat us like that. He needs to hire more people in Accounting to get these checks processed more quickly and to get them out to people ASAP. Be fair to your workers! read more

This is the worst promo company I've ever worked for. I have had to wait three months before getting paid and I'm still waiting. There are several complaints about them on the better business bureau site and they always defend themselves by saying they pay talent when the client pays them. I got a number of bookings through them, but that's probably because no one wants to work for them. They said payment would come in 4-8 weeks. I waited on average 3 months or even longer( after I had to email them.) Why isn't zero stars an option?! I wish I had read these reviews before working for Encore. I still have not been paid for an event I worked in November 2014. The client is a well-known, extremely cash-rich technology company that is a global household name, so I seriously doubt Encore hasn't been paid by the client in almost five months. When I try to inquire by telephone, my calls are not returned. When I e-mail the company through its Web site, it takes days to get a response, and then it's from someone who doesn't or won't give his/her name so I can follow up by telephone and quickly get to the bottom of things. If I worked for a company as shady as this one, I suppose I wouldn't want to link my name with it either, but still. About a month ago, I was told by Anonymous E-Mail Responder my payment would be forthcoming on a very specific date. Well, that date has come and gone, and my payment hasn't arrived. So I inquired again through the Web site and days later got another response from Anonymous E-Mail Responder asking me to confirm my address. Of course, it's the same one I provided in my initial contract with Encore, but I repeated it for the company. A few days after that, Anonymous E-Mail Responder confirmed that is where the payment supposedly was sent on the promised date. I was asked to wait until the end of this week for it to arrive. Well, now I know from reading all these reviews that this is just the modus operandi of Encore. Avoid payment. When contacted about it, pretend like it's been sent. When it's not received and another contact has been made, pretend like there might be a mixup in the mailing address. When contacted again, request another waiting period. I think this company has serious cash flow and liquidity problems. If I knew then what I know now, I would not have worked as an independent contractor for Encore. Five months is too long to wait for payment. This much time and energy is too much to expend chasing money from this deadbeat, unscrupulous company. I hope there's a special place in hell for the owner(s) for putting honest, hard-working people through this. As Usoro U. wrote in his "not currently recommended" review, I guess there's always the court system. Or maybe each of us should contact the clients we've worked for through Encore and let them know we've not been paid, so they can help us exert pressure and withhold future business. I really hope clients and prospective clients of Encore are reading these reviews and choose to work with a different agency with more integrity. Super shady, just like several other people have said they take a LONG time to pay then blame it on the client not paying them. I believe this is called "bad business practices" and I believe that if the client was contacted they would say that they were paid. I worked on May 11th now its August and has been over 3 months. Don't work for companies that don't respect their workers. How can you get quality workers when you take an average of 3 months to pay? How can you keep getting quality companies to sign for you, when you're creating a bad name for yourself? I have had a really good experience working as a Brand Ambassador with Encore. They are very professional, always pay on time, and any time I have an issue they work with me to find a solution and get back to me in a timely manner. How in 2019 can you justify paying someone over a month after they've already worked for you. Especially during the holiday season. I worked for Encore numerous times a few years ago. I had a regular weekend event at Costco for about a year. There was never a time I did not receive my paycheck. And it was always on time. Recently I worked an event for Encore at Target. I accidentally omitted some information when I sent in my report. I received a courteous email from Encore, alerting me to my mistake. Booked to work a 8' o clock coffee event in upstate NY. Since I'm a NJ resident it was negotiated with Yovanny Naranjo (ext 1150) that I would be paid travel time along with my BA pay. Which was pleasing to me being that I would be outside in 18 degree wether serving coffee. 30 days pass and my check is nowhere to be found. Sine the promotion was executed 11/21 and 11/22 2016 I knew the 30 day payout would hit close to Christmas so there would be a huge chance I would not get my payment in a timely manor. However it is now January 9th 2017 and still no payment. When I reached out to Encore payment relations they provided me a random check number but failed to provide me the bank it would be coming from. When I asked, major deflection was provided to me. I then decided to CC' the staffing coordinator with my recent responses to the payment department to see if we could get this all resolved so that I could get my payment and never work for this company. Well I am still waiting for the deflection to stop and receive my payment. I will now be left to contact legal support to get my payment. I would be careful working with this company. There are plenty of companies that will not have you waiting 30 days to get your funds. As a BA you are out there working hard and hopefully doing what you love, but I highly doubt you are out there so that a company can fall back on what they have promised you before you began. read more

I was a customer who needed a few people for an event. Getting someone to answer the phone when staffers didn't show up was an ordeal in itself. They sent us all of the paperwork the day the event started even though we had been in conversations for weeks. I used them because I had seen their advertising at other shows. While I've taken the time to read others' reviews, my personal experience with them is nothing new. I wrapped up work on 11/21/13 & didn't get payment in the mail until 2/26/14, after several follow-up emails & even a phone call inquiring payment status. Envelope was postmarked 2/10/14 but didn't show up on my doorstep until 2/26/14. Support staff "Cindy" stated it could be the inclement weather slowing down the postal services; my guess is that the envelope sat in the office until whenever for them to actually drop-off at the post office. I've received snail mail from the West Coast within this time frame already within 2-3 business days! In summary, I would NOT recommend anyone to subject themselves to this kind of neglectful payment behavior. DO NOT accept any job invites from Encore Nationwide! Their website FAQ section clearly states that brand ambassadors can expect to get paid anywhere between 4-7 weeks. This is not the case at all! I worked an event on 2/8 and 2/20, and as of today, (4/25/14), I have not received payment. After several emails asking for an update, their only claim is that they haven't gotten paid by the client and until that happens, I will not receive payment. It has been over 8 weeks for each event. Also, each event was for different clients. Clearly this company has serious financial issues if they cannot clear payment from companies. What they should do is pay brand ambassadors when they say they will and then go after the client for the money that is owed to them, not make brand ambassadors wait. If there are any other brand ambassadors facing the same issue, please file a complaint with the BBB (better business bureau). They are listed under Encore Nationwide Inc. in California. Sometimes payment takes even longer than that. I'm still waiting for a paycheck from a job before Christmas and it's going to be May soon. I've asked about it many times and either get ignored or ran around and told to talk to a list of people who all say different things.
