If you are going to have a lab, it should be staffed or have published hours when it is going to be staffed. The office response was to go to another location, which was out to Oswego, and very inconvenient for a working person. Today's visit was an insult; an at home lab test was ordered for me, which I picked up the supplies last week. When I returned my test today (urine to analyze for kidney stones), I was told the lab gave me the incorrect supplies and I had to do it over again, but they did not have the supplies, and I would have to go up to a lab in Downers Grove to pick up what I needed. Not only is this inconvenient, but now it is more expensive as I have already met my yearly deductible. Here it is December 30, and there is no way I can get it done before the end of the day tomorrow. There definitely needs to be some changes for the lab for services and communications at this location.

This place is being looked into for Medicare fraud. I am a NP in town and we are doing it. Go to Aunt Martha's who actually take walk ins and the first question is not, "What insurance do you have?" I arrived 15 minutes early and was told by the front check in person at Oak Street Health in between eating bites of her lunch that my mom would have to be rescheduled, but only after she took both insurance cards and ID's and made greasy copies. When I questioned why was told since it was her first time there the provider needed more time. I said I am an NP in town and appointments get mixed up, and we work around it. My mom is early and 7 days post op and needs her medication and you are denying her care because your provider needs more time. This sounds like a company problem and not a patient one. Aunt Martha's would never do this to a senior elderly patient, especially one needing medication and had given all of her charts to the facility a week prior. She said you can come back another day. At this juncture the Joliet Primary Care staff up front looked like they felt sorry for my mom. The still eating check in person then stated my mom could get medication at the ER! Aunt Martha's has great compassionate care and actually spend time teaching you how to stay out of the Emergency Room Avoid this place at all costs and if you see something say something...., report them to the community like Senior Services. I called to ask what happened and was told that the doctor is no longer accepting new patients. This raises a reasonable question: why are appointment slots being publicly listed online if new patients cannot actually book them? I asked the administrator this exact question, but she simply kept repeating the same phrase like a recording: "The doctor is not accepting new patients." I explained that this explanation is not acceptable. If a doctor truly is not accepting new patients, then available dates and times should not be published at all. Instead of addressing the issue, the receptionist began pushing other random doctors on me. If I wanted to see just any doctor, I would have booked one myself. It was important for me specifically to see this doctor, and that was completely ignored. Overall, this felt like a waste of time and very poor communication. Listing appointment availability that patients cannot actually use is misleading and frustrating.
