I've had a very similar cut treated at another urgent care before, where Dermabond was applied successfully to close the wound. I also work in healthcare and have seen Dermabond administered properly many times. Unfortunately, my experience with Carmelia Petch, PA, was completely different. During the application, her hands were noticeably shaky, and the Dermabond was applied messily, leaving purple adhesive across my thumb and hand while parts of the actual incision appeared inadequately covered. Very little of the adhesive was used, and I left feeling as though the wound itself had not been properly secured--the entire reason I came in. Given the location in Westlake and the appearance of such a beautiful, modern facility, I expected a much higher standard of care. The front desk staff was very nice, but I was incredibly disappointed with the treatment I received from this particular PA. It felt like a complete waste of my time and money, and I would not feel comfortable having her treat a similar injury again.

The cryogenic treatment is the best. This is where they shoot a cold gun at your injured part and zap it with what feels like -100 degrees of ice cold nitrogen. My injury feels better instantly, although it takes a bit of time to defrost afterward. Dr. Miller, (although I get to call him Dr. Correy) knows all about every spinal disk one could rupture and listens very intently to the patient. He uses this machine on your neck and spine that goes, TATACHCHCHTATATACHCHCHCHTATATCGA and sounds like a fleet of Apache choppers swooping low over a prospective target in a third-world nation. WHATER that machine is called, it is worth it. Also, If you want to talk about anything to the nice girl at the front, feel free. She is talkative to any interesting subject there is and it will make you want to go back home and bring in some good neighborhood gossip too. The whole practice has truly helped both me and my wife. A spine-tingling experience that will also crack you up upon leaving! I highly recommend it.

STAR PT is THE "1 stop shop for all your body's needs!" 1st…read moresection of this review is "my story"; Skip to the end for other details about STAR PT. K, I'm a bit biased: I, myself, was a PT at STAR for 10 years. But, I'm a patient right now: bicipital tendinitis developed as a result of shoulder impingement/rotator cuff arthropathy. I couldn't use my arm worth squat, constant pain, and intense pain with attempted use. What I had tried/done failed. Grew very discouraged/depressed: Husband asked me when I was going to DO something about it (& stop complaining, lol). Saw my doc: He offered an injection, but I said, "PT first please, and I want to go to STAR." (don't want injections to jeopardize the integrity of my tendons, and STAR PT "only"!). Yes, a PT may need another PT to lift one up, illuminate the path, and lead the way to success! Highlighting Anthony for his awesomeness! I specifically requested Anthony because he was the only one who didn't "know me." I know the other therapists, and they are all excellent. In this case personally, I wanted to be "led" unbiasedly: without any consideration/assumption that I "should know" this or that since the others "know" I'm a PT. Visits 1 & 2 proved to me why you see a PT before injections/surgery: immediate positive impact! I experienced a set-back after the visit 3 - of the exact same nature as to why I was unsuccessful when I tried to rehab myself. Anthony got me past this in ways that I'd never thought of! Week 3: still progressing, and Anthony increased focus on other components of my body to ensure long-term success (YES, core/pelvic/hip/leg exercises for my shoulder problem!). 8th visit/re-evaluation: 80+% better! Able to swim freestyle without problems over 4th of July holidays, pain is SO much less (I can handle intermittent dull aching), I no longer hesitate to use my arm (though it's still quite weak), and I'm now asking questions about working out! Anthony is so awesome: He listens, instructs, educates, set goals, and puts the plan into place. Though (as a PT) I think I could "take over" independently at this point, I'm continuing because I want to return to 100% and want him to keep leading me to ensure success. I started a version of push-ups (um, 7 visits ago, this thought was ludicrous)! Anthony reviewed other activities/gym exercises to try (or avoid), reminded me of needed rest/recovery periods and signs of when to back-off/stop. I don't know if I'll need to update this review when I am 100%, because I'm now feeling like nothing's going to stop me from reaching my goals! & Yes, should I experience any "hiccup" from this point forward, Anthony will bring me beyond it (full confidence), but this is why I'm still going to STAR PT!
