STAR PT is THE "1 stop shop for all your body's needs!" 1st section of this review is "my story"; Skip to the end for other details about STAR PT. K, I'm a bit biased: I, myself, was a PT at STAR for 10 years. But, I'm a patient right now: bicipital tendinitis developed as a result of shoulder impingement/rotator cuff arthropathy. I couldn't use my arm worth squat, constant pain, and intense pain with attempted use. What I had tried/done failed. Grew very discouraged/depressed: Husband asked me when I was going to DO something about it (& stop complaining, lol). Saw my doc: He offered an injection, but I said, "PT first please, and I want to go to STAR." (don't want injections to jeopardize the integrity of my tendons, and STAR PT "only"!). Yes, a PT may need another PT to lift one up, illuminate the path, and lead the way to success! Highlighting Anthony for his awesomeness! I specifically requested Anthony because he was the only one who didn't "know me." I know the other therapists, and they are all excellent. In this case personally, I wanted to be "led" unbiasedly: without any consideration/assumption that I "should know" this or that since the others "know" I'm a PT. Visits 1 & 2 proved to me why you see a PT before injections/surgery: immediate positive impact! I experienced a set-back after the visit 3 - of the exact same nature as to why I was unsuccessful when I tried to rehab myself. Anthony got me past this in ways that I'd never thought of! Week 3: still progressing, and Anthony increased focus on other components of my body to ensure long-term success (YES, core/pelvic/hip/leg exercises for my shoulder problem!). 8th visit/re-evaluation: 80+% better! Able to swim freestyle without problems over 4th of July holidays, pain is SO much less (I can handle intermittent dull aching), I no longer hesitate to use my arm (though it's still quite weak), and I'm now asking questions about working out! Anthony is so awesome: He listens, instructs, educates, set goals, and puts the plan into place. Though (as a PT) I think I could "take over" independently at this point, I'm continuing because I want to return to 100% and want him to keep leading me to ensure success. I started a version of push-ups (um, 7 visits ago, this thought was ludicrous)! Anthony reviewed other activities/gym exercises to try (or avoid), reminded me of needed rest/recovery periods and signs of when to back-off/stop. I don't know if I'll need to update this review when I am 100%, because I'm now feeling like nothing's going to stop me from reaching my goals! & Yes, should I experience any "hiccup" from this point forward, Anthony will bring me beyond it (full confidence), but this is why I'm still going to STAR PT! I am currently receiving physical therapy from Carol at this location. I highly recommend Carol and Star Therapy in general. It is a very well run facility. The front desk folks are friendly, professional and very efficient. Carol really knows her stuff! She explains what she is going to do prior to doing them and answers all my questions. She makes excellent recommendations. And, should I not have been able to do my homework, there is no shaming, which I have experienced in the past. Every time I write a review I try to make it short and sweet. Well I've failed again. It's just hard to when you have so many good things to say, so here it goes.. I'm fragile, I injure easily, and to top it off I'm "in training" for one of the biggest endurance races of my life. Putting a lot of hours into training has really made me realize how much I can't just ignore those little twangs and twinges in my body that just don't feel right. I can't just train through and expect them to go away, I was in need of serious help! "You have a weak butt." "Your right leg is longer than your left." "Your right hip is rotated forward." "Your psoas is tight. Your kind of tilted to the right." "You need to strength train more." These were the numerous opinions I got from numerous health professionals. So which one is it? I was so confused. So frustrated. It wasn't until I finally enlisted the help of Steve C. from Star Physical Therapy that I really got a comprehensive evaluation of all my issues in all it's convoluted ENTIRETY. When I first met with Steve he did all sorts of range of motion tests, moving my legs and arms every which way...explaining to me why some range of motion was restricted and pretty much mapped out the cause and effect of every little complaint I had. Turns out some of the stuff I had heard before was true, but more importantly Steve made sense out of it all. Ahh, the story of my body and why it's not happy with me. Victory! ..well getting answers was half the battle. The actual game plan is the other half. I've been seeing Steve for 2 months now and have seen great improvements. Every time I go, I get a new series of exercises to focus on, I get measured again to check progress (before my exercises and during), and sometimes I get some additional bonus massage time. Oh, and by bonus massage, I don't mean the relaxing kind. Sometimes things just get stuck and need some serious kneading and while it hurts like hell, it is much kneaded (ha, pun intended). Bottom line is that Steve and Star Physical Therapy really puts serious one-on-one time with each and every patient. They are very knowledgeable and they don't just give you some exercises and send you on your merry way. Truly the best physical therapy I have used in all my life. Oh and just so you know, the big race? I'm still in it to win it. I'm not just going through the motions anymore. I know my limits and I now know why something hurts and how to manage it and have it progressively made into less of a nuisance. So thank you Steve and Star Physical Therapy. I feel a box of homemade cookies are in order very soon. I just don't make cookies for anyone..so that definitely says something about how great this place really is! read more

I've been working with Star Physical Therapy for several weeks. My PT seems good at what she does, listens to what I tell her about pain and symptoms, and I feel like I'm making some progress on chronic pain issues that have been a problem for a long time. I was able to get seen here quickly when I couldn't get in elsewhere for weeks. I'm not a huge fan of how warm it is inside. I'm in there working out; more A/C would be nice. Can't complain too much though; it keeps the muscles warm. read more

I went to STAR to rehab a hip replacement and some nerve damage in my left leg. Anthony Ruscitto, my PT, was very knowledgeable and skilled in both areas. I went in using a walker and today have complete mobility and use of my hip. I can highly recommend Anthony and STAR, from the nice reception workers at the front desk to the physical facilities and equipment. John Hupp and his staff are committed to helping you recover from your injury. I was struggling with severe neck pain from bulging cervical discs. I was in treatment for 6 months and the staff there kept me committed to healing surgery free. They take insurance and are super helpful with educating you on how not to hurt yourself again! For the better part of 2018-19, I have benefitted from the skilled and knowledgeable work of Kyle Marchand at Star Physical Therapy. Kyle is one of many skilled therapists at Star. He helped me rehab my replaced knee and a nagging hip problem. I am now back to hiking, Barre class, Tai Chi and Yoga. I highly recommend Star Physical Therapy for rehabilitation success. read more

This place is the best. I have fibromyalgia and chronic pain, and I have been to many, many physical therapists over the years. I came to Star PT specifically due to shoulder, neck, and back pain. Jon Hupp is the best. He is incredibly talented, well educated, and really cares deeply about his patients. He has done a ton of continuing education and has extensive knowledge of techniques that most PTs know little if nothing about (for example, a variety of manual hands-on techniques, and knowledge of specialized breathing exercises). The full name of this place (Specialized Therapy and Advanced Rehabilitation) is accurate -- it is specialized and advanced. Jon is the owner and also has taught a lot of his advanced knowledge to the other PTs there. Going there has really helped me control my pain and be able to do more things. Thank you. read more

I hurt my shoulder about 3 months ago and my doctor suggested physiotherapy at Star Physical Therapy (as they accept medicare insurance). Therapist said I had a 'rotator cuff' injury and it would take awhile to recover full motion again without any pain. My therapists were Kyle Marchant and Jennifer Reese. They were both professional and after 19 sessions I am 95% recovered. 'Shout out' to both Kyle and Jennifer for their patience and persistence with me. Kyle tailored my treatment to my specific problems and modified it as I progressed. Jennifer gave me many 'awesome' massages to my shoulder and upper arm. She really has 'magic' hands. I will miss her weekly massages. The staff were always helpful and accommodating setting up my appointments etc. I would thoroughly recommend STAR for physiotherapy after a sports or other injury. read more

Jon Hupp and his staff are warm, helpful and fun. The other physical therapy I've undergone pales in comparison. Be prepared to commit to a couple of hours if you can. But they will respect your schedule too. Intensive hands on manual therapy, postural restoration, education, laser and electrical stimulation...STAR covers it all. I'm only giving them four STARS for now because, after all, the proofs in the pudding. But I'm very impressed and improved a few weeks in. read more

John Hupp is easily the most highly trained, naturally talented, and brilliant individual in any field we have ever known. His compassion and care of the individual is unparalleled, and he does not quit until results are joyfully obvious! Time and again our family was helped by this marvelous individual. I am a very shy person, and at times spending several minutes with a medical sort like this leaning over my head as he worked on my jaw, for example, would normally render me painfully embarrassed (for no actual reason, just my own bashful quirk!), but Mr. Hupp made conversation easy, and his amazingly sophisticated sense of humor had me in stitches so often, we would have to stop chatting during his work, lest I roll off the PT table! (Okay, that's an exaggeration, but the guy can be hysterical!) John Hupp spends much time each year attending various seminars and gathering to himself ever more training in areas in which he already has dazzling expertise, so the information he possesses with which to practice physical therapy is forever and always cutting edge.
