Buying tickets! Not sure how this will go!

Located in the Mission, Endgames Improv has shows in the evening. If you pay for one early on and there isn't a ton of folks for the next shows, you can see the rest of the shows for free. I don't recall the price I paid but it was less than $20. It was my first time attending an improv show and I liked the audience interaction. I was here on a Saturday and stayed for two shows. Depending on the theme of the show, you can write down your name/improv situation on a slip of paper. During the show they will read it out loud. Not for the faint hearted if you get called out but now that I know what I would be in for, I may volunteer to share with the crowd my "F'ed Up Relationship" for the improv show. The improv groups change with the shows so each show will be unique - heck it's unique in its own right because you never know what is going to happen! I think taking improv classes would help with *gulp* public speaking, telling jokes, or just exercising your creative funny bone.

Luckily, they were able to hold it in their kitchen during the performance. The venue is clean and easy to get to via public transit. My only complaints are the prices of the nonalcoholic drinks. I hate that all the major comedy clubs have a two-drink minimum. I'd rather just tack on $20 to the ticket price. That being said, Cobb's does have better options for non-drinkers like me.

However, we were seated too close to the front wall that sometimes we just ended up seeing the comedian from behind. I'm sure we would've had a better experience if we didn't have a somewhat obstructed view. There's also a two drink minimum per person, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. This rule was a bit strange to me because all the other comedy spots I've been to allowed me to select a food item to meet the two item minimum. However, Punch Line is very strict on the fact that your two items have to be beverages. The cocktail I got was unmemorable. I should've just gone with something premade and canned. I'd come back here for a comedian that I'd want to see live. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

But you still get a good view of the entertainers if you're at least in closest 2/3rds of the theater. The $25 show lasted about 1 hour 40 minutes, and had 4 female comedians, or about $7.50 per a comedian...that's pretty good deal! All the comedians were great in their on own styles. The 2 drink minimum is normal, but seemed a bit more strictly enforced. $16 for 24oz hard seltzer seemed heinous, but pretty standard for an entertainment venue in San Francisco...my 2nd drink was a $6 club soda. After tax and tip it all showed up as $28.48 on my credit card somehow. $22 Total X 1.08625 sales tax = $23.90. $28.48 - $23.90 = $4.58 Tip or roughly 21% that was chosen for me, which seemed excessive for canned drinks. Couldn't find the wait staff after the show and I didn't have the energy, oh well.

My partner and I had a great time during each set. Lots of jokes about tech, dating, AI, and homeless folks. You know, the SF standard. With that said, the bar is intimate. Instead, we were placed off stage left of the stage in the back, while the entire front-center section and Stage Right were still empty. I honestly thought it was a mistake, so I asked about it, but I was told those were the only seats available. The frustrating part? Three people who met us later paid just $20 at the door and were seated Stage Right in much more comfortable seats with a better view. To make matters worse, guests who arrived after us were served their food before our table. Our seating was extremely uncomfortable. I had to sit with my legs stretched straight out, turned to the right for the entire show just to see the stage, while constantly trying to avoid servers and guests walking by. And my water was lukewarm, not even iced. If you're thinking about paying for VIP, I honestly wouldn't recommend it based on my experience. My advice: Save your money. Skip the VIP tickets, show up later, and you may end up with better seats than those who paid extra. It certainly happened to us.

I didn't care for the fact that no where online could I find any comedian names beforehand - therefore, I wasn't expecting much. Bought tickets online ($53 for 2 with svc fee) a few weeks in advance. For entry, a woman checked our names off a list then we walked down the flight of stairs that had prohibition era decor. The venue is intimate. Seating is extremely tight (definitely seats less than 100 people). I would suggest that if you go, do NOT sit up front for obvious reasons (like being the subject matter and/or ridiculed), but also because those in front rows were literally spit on (unintentionally of course) by the headliner that raised his voice/yelled as part of his skit - from the side view where we sat and because of the spotlights, we seriously saw the spit travel through the air, land on people who then retracted a bit in shock - we were disgusted, especially in this post-COVID pandemic climate. One of the other comedians stopped his skit and reprimanded those in the audience that were talking - he was so annoyed and wasn't shy about it. We parked in the parking garage across the street, $20 for less than 2 hours wasn't exactly worth it. I wouldn't be against returning as long as there are funny, well known comedians scheduled and marketed - but we won't sit up front :)
