We've been here maybe half a dozen times -- we love how cozy and small the venue is, the shows are generally good. Last night, the service was 1-star terrible. We got there early -- there were maybe 5 tables occupied. Ordered the mandatory 2 items per person, plus 2 waters. Popcorn and nachos came (no napkins), then drinks (no water). We asked for the water again, plus napkins. Never came. We saw other tables getting water, not us. After waiting about an hour and a half from the first ask, I just went up to the bar myself. Toward the end of the show, the checks are usually handed out a little early, collected early, and people can get outta there as soon as the show ends. Not last night. Came to see Sarper Guven's stand up act. He was AMAZING! 5-Stars for Sarper!! He's a genuinely nice, down to earth and funny guy. First time at Rooster T Feather's and I couldn't have chosen a better show to see. Check-in was easy. They have a guide to seat you. We spent the extra for VIP so got to sit right up front. It's actually a small venue but happy we splurged on the VIP. We ordered 4 drinks total for a party of 2. The drinks were good and not watered down. We also got the nachos but had to wait a while because they were apparently delivered to the wrong table so a new order had to be submitted. They were just basic nachos, nothing fancy. Our server was nice and approachable but very busy. It was a slightly chiller evening so I would have preferred if the meet and greet was inside. As far as I'm concerned I wasn't there for the venue but rather, to support the show. read more

TERRRRIBLE!!! I went to the FINALS of their comedy competition last night. Wow. What a joke (no pun intended). I've been to open mic nights at the local pub that had better jokes and comedians and those were total amateurs. I love comedy, and literally found almost no funny jokes out of a 12 comedian lineup. None of these so called "comedians" are ready for prime time, or anything near it. Don't quit your day jobs, guys and gals. I won't even get into the 2 drink per person minimum, coz I'm not one of these penny pinchers that bases my reviews on a few bucks. Just be aware that it is strictly enforced, OK, and a CAN (yes) of water to go will set you back 7 bucks plus tax and tip. Couldn't care less personally. My husband and I went to Rooster T. Feathers for a date night and splurged on the premium seats--totally worth it. The view was excellent, super close to the stage without feeling too in-the-spotlight. If you're debating the upgrade, do it. The comedy lineup was fantastic. Great energy, solid pacing, and nonstop laughs. Rooster's really knows how to book talent, and the intimate setting makes the experience feel personal and engaging. The food, however, was just okay. Not terrible, just a bit limited in variety and flavor--definitely more of a snack-and-a-drink type of spot than a dinner-and-show venue. Luckily, the strong comedy makes up for the weak menu. Came here with a small group to catch Austin Nasso/the Tech Roast Show guy on April 11. The openers were pretty funny! I'm not a big fan of their two food/drink order minimum, but I got popcorn and a virgin mangonada. I was informed that they didn't have mango flavor so I opted for a watermelon flavor instead (watermelonada?). I asked for no butter in the popcorn but they said that it comes in premade! It was pretty good, the popcorn was cold though. Show itself was entertaining, lots of political jabs at both sides and decent audience interaction. Venue has limited parking and I decided to park at the adjacent strip mall plaza that boasted a larger number of spots. Overall the vibe here is entertaining, I'm not sure if I'd come here for a random comedian/someone I wouldn't know but I definitely got the vibe that this is a well established comedy club that is doing well. read more

Sketchy fees make me hesitant to go back and I have been a regular for thirty years. Prices are much higher and to avoid extra charges I have always paid cash at the door. Now they are charging a higher fee to pay cash at the door than they do for online! Tickets are suppose to be $25 I was quoted $30 each cash or $40 each for credit card. A $30 charge to buy 3 tickets on credit even though everyone uses credit to pay for drinks and there is no charge there. The whole thing makes no sense and I think the extra charge I paid went in the hosts pocket. read more

Pretty sad this place has gone downhill. The staff were very rude, you work in a comedy club bro lighten up! I bought 8 tickets 4 VIP and 4 regular so I paid a lot of money to have a good time with my friends. They said we had to sit separated in groups of 2. And then they seated me on a chair with no table in front of me. They said I would have to put my food and drink directly behind me. This makes NO SENSE AT ALL. I finally convinced them that I need a table IN FRONT OF ME for my food and drink. The nachos were TERRIBLE zero cheese and chicken on them and I paid extra for chicken. Just attended a show here to see Matthew Broussard and we had a great time. Rahul and Aurora were also hilarious! The venue seemed newly renovated and fairly clean. It has a cozy vibe to it. They offer a few different snack options: chips and salsa, popcorn, nachos, etc. (ball park food). I had popcorn and it was pretty good, you can tell it is freshly popped because of the smell and sound. They also have a pretty good drink selection. I was DD so I went with hot tea and the waitress brought me a variety of choices. I also found a Yogi tea which was better than the others that were First Street. While the waitress was friendly, service was quite slow. My popcorn didn't arrive the first time I ordered it and when she finally came back I had to ask again. They also say you have to order 2 items online...and no phones during the show. I was scared to take it out to snap pictures of my tea and popcorn but I'm sure you get the idea. Great comedy club. Intimate enough where all of the seats are pretty close to the stage. The tables are adorned with LED tea light candles which was cute and everything else was clean and well kept. They also have a bar in the back, but I didn't need it since their service was really good. They came by just in time when I needed another drink and to order food. I had 2 IPAs and nachos with chicken. Definitely get the added chicken because the portion difference makes up for the additional charge . Seating is first come, first served with additional chairs in front of tables that other parties may be sitting in. If you're thinking improv and snagging food, just know it's limited. Popcorn, hotdog, nachos, a dessert, or two. They have wine, cocktails, beers, a redbull, and some canned drinks like high noon. We weren't feeling the cocktail menu items, so figured Makers on the rocks and a rum & pineapple juice should be a safe choice. We were there before it got super crowded, but there was one waitstaff running the floor, so just know you may wait a few moments. No big deal. The whiskey was off. Like not quite tasting like Makers, possibly had a lot of ice cubes that melted while waiting for the drink given the size of the pour in the snifter. Anyway, I decided to go canned/bottle drinks after due to that. Checks are brought toward the end of the last act, so if you need to get out, you may want to close out after you buy your 2 item minimum per person. We've gone twice and had a great time with the acts at one show, and the other made us think about whether we want to go again. Definitely need to plan your drinks and food outside of Roosters depending on the vibe for your evening. Oh and parking is street parking nearby. I don't think they have a lot. I love how unassuming this comedy club is! First of all, they share a parking lot with a tire shop -- which is GENIUS because the parking lot is empty in the evening! There is also parking along and across the street. You walk in and it's a different vibe from the Sunnyvale burb! It's a one-story venue with an open-space bar and a clean bathroom. They have a variety of drinks and snacks, although let me just be honest -- I don't go to comedy clubs for the nutrition or sustenance. I'm here to laugh in a comfortable space! So my review is primarily on the vibe and physical comfort. I'm not a huge drinker so the hot teas were fine for me. I would've been fine with water, lol. The 2 order minimum is the same as SJ Improv. If you see comedians you like on their upcoming calendar, definitely give this place a try! We saw Irene Tu this month and had a blast! This club is the perfect size. It is a somewhat intimate venue but not too small for groups. There are no bad seats here. You can see the stage from anywhere. I went during an open mic evening and there were at least ten comedians, if not more. This is the first club I've been to where 90% of the comedians were actually hilarious! The level of talent here exceeded any I've seen thus far at a local club. This was more than worth the $10 cover charge. ($10 cash, $15 if you pay with a card). The premixed drinks are not good. I ordered a margarita and it tasted like it was made from a cheap grocery store mixer. But, the bartender was happy to take it back and replace it with something not made from a mix so they get points for that one. And the entire staff was friendly. There's plenty of parking in the tire shop next door. And FYI, even if the place looks closed, it's actually open. This place gets two thumbs up from me! read more

Worst comedy club I have ever been to. We were the second table to be seated, and we were almost the last table to have our order taken. The waitress went and took everyone else's order around us and every time we asked if she could take our order, she kept saying I'll be back we're almost the last table to get to order and when we asked for a hotdog, she said they were all out and I asked how you be all out. You just opened your doors not a very good place at all. How can you open up and not have what's on your menu? I attended comedy night with Chris Porter on a Sunday evening, and had a fun time. The venue was awkwardly located right next to an auto shop (in fact I think I accidentally parked at the auto shop, cuz that's where google maps led me, lol). We were seated near the front, the place was only half full, and most seats seemed to offer a decent view of the stage. The venue looked pretty modern inside, I believe it was recently updated, but the decor and lighting were pretty simple (almost non-existent). so it's hard to tell this is a comedy club. But I liked the drink menu, lots of tantalizing options. My partner and I shared a few cocktails, so I was able to try the Rooster Juice, Raspberry Lemon Drop, and Chocolate Martini. Flavorwise, all three drinks were phenomenal, and the last two were pretty strong on the alcohol. Ironically the Rooster Juice was fruity and tropical, but didn't seem heavy on the alcohol (even though the menu says it comes with "4 alcohols"). The server was friendly, but service for drinks was slow, both before and during the show. The performance we attended was great, yes tickets are a little overpriced, as you don't get the big names here and yet it costs $30 after fees. Still, Chris Porter had us laughing our asses off, even if it wasn't his best show. I enjoyed a great night of comedy with good company and a laid back atmosphere, exactly what I needed this past weekend. It's cool to have a place like this near home. read more

Favorite comedy club in the area. I am a comedian. I come here to do the regular open in mics. This is by far my favorite comedy club to work with. And this is why. Management and ownership cares, and it shows. All the communication is super clear upfront there so available there so open it is really unlike some of the other places that I've been exposed to. Service is really great. Everybody's really kind. Ambience is super chill. It is what a comedy club should be. Exactly like what I always ever seen on TV. I love being here, I love watching comedy here, I love doing comedy here. They offer classes as well. I heard that the instructors are really knowledgeable and know what they're talking about. Great venue. Great people. They have a great menu. Highly recommend for patrons and comedians alike. read more

Been going to a few comedy clubs, but this was my first time here. I came with 2 friends and we were seated close to the stage. Tip: get there early for closer seats. I like how they have it seat up inside. Not super close to people but comfortable. There's a 2 item minimum. They have a decent amount of items but I wish they had mocktail options. I don't drink anymore and didn't really want a soda or hot chocolate. I tried the spiced cider; it was more like warm apple juice with a bunch of sugar at the bottom. The comedian were hilarious. I haven't been to Rooster T Feathers in ages! It was better than I remember. I came New Year's Eve and saw Helen Hong. She is hilarious and kept the crowd going for over an hour. About the venue, it's quite small but I think that's the charm of it. Easy to see the stage and well lit. There is a two drink minimum but I was able to buy a bottle of water. I also had a hot chocolate LOL and it was one of the best ones I've had oddly enough. My friend sucked down two cocktails and said it was ok. We also had nachos and a hot dog. Nachos were ok but the hot dog was actually decent. Price point is very low for both, so overall great. I grew up in Sunnyvale and not sure how this comedy venue is still around. It's one of the least known venues and no big names really come here. It's in Sunnyvale so not a happening spot either. The venue has a weird smell to it, which I don't like. I can't recall if I liked the food or drinks. The venue itself isn't nice and the comedians are sub par. I don't particularly remember leaving a show thinking it was an amazing night out. Since they have a smaller venue, every seat in the house is about as close as all the VIP seating at the Improv. Plus, the performers normally do a meet and greet at the exit for everyone. Bottom line, a much more intimate experience. Where to go: Personally, if you can get the performer you want at Rooster T Feathers, that would be my first choice for the more intimate experience. Performing stand up comedy has been a part of my bucket list for quite some time. If I didn't go with a group, then I probably wouldn't have gone up at all... this is a great venue for performing stand up comedy because it's intimate enough and there is no heckling or booing allowed so it's a friendlier setting. There is a spotlight that shines bright on your face and there's a clock that you can see on while on stage to see how much time you have left. The food is not very good, but I don't come here for the food. just a really chill place to watch comedy and I'm writing this review because I sincerely hope that this venue stays in business with the pandemic. If you perform, you do get a free drink ticket and there's no cost to perform for comedians on open mic night but you have to email Heather in advance to get on the list and to see which week you'll perform. read more

This is a more intimate club, however there are so many opportunities for improvement. 1. Signage for the entrance for lining up - there is no signage over the door that goes into the club. This became an issue because even though we were second in line, people thought at the end of the line, so we had to repeatedly redirect towards the other door for the end of the line. Also, when the tickets say doors open at 6:15, people expect that to be true, especially if it's drizzling. 2. Seating - hire a new person to seat people. As mentioned above, we were second in line. At most comedy clubs being at the front of the line indicates that you are a fan of the feature act, and are rewarded with good seating. The show was all general admission, there was not a two tier price system for sitting closer. I was in a group of 3, and the guy sat us on the side in the last table before the elevated tables. I ask can we sit closer, and I am told no, this is our only 3 person table. Seemed odd that for us being second in line that was the only "option." And who does this guy sit front and center as more people come in, a senior citizen meet up group called salt and pepper, who were not even fans of the featured act, as the comedian called them out for not laughing, nor being his typical audience. 3. Speaker system in restroom - the speaker in the restroom is not on, so you can't hear the show if you need to visit the facilities during the show 4. Food - eat before you come. The hummus platter was a joke - stack of pita, baby carrots and cucumber circles. If you are serving cucumbers, they should be cut lengthwise because you are dipping, as no utensils were provided - impossible to eat with the hummus. How about adding some celery, or olives or cheese? For $11 it seemed rather ridiculous. The nachos looked equally sad with the round chips and liquid cheese on top with some salsa and sour cream. 5. Hecklers - make an announcement that heckling is not allowed, because the amount of people who interrupted the show was ridiculous. And then enforce the no heckling rule. One of the seniors was an asshole and should have been bounced for throwing a piece of popcorn at the comedian and sticking out her tongue for not liking his joke about the seniors not laughing or being the typical audience (your at a comedy show and when you sit in the front be prepared to be made fun of). read more

I used to only hit the San Jose Improv but now that I've caught some shows here lately, this is now my new favorite place in the South Bay. The worse seat in the house is still really close to the stage. At such a small venue, you're more likely to have the comedians stay after to greet you after the show, which I really value because I love to get my picture taken with the performers.
