Last week we went to Cobbs Comedy Club in San Francisco to see headliner Jason Cheny. My daughter K bought sold out tickets months in advance. We had premium section tickets so we were seated up front. Getting seated was organized. There is a two drink minimum and the drinks run fro $15 to $25 each. They have a food menu that was surprisingly good. Ordered the nachos, garlic fries and the egg rolls. The room is huge with a tiny balcony. Jason Cheny was very funny and the opening acts were decent. Service ok very hard to get your second round of drinks. Find your own street or paid parking. I had the pleasure of attending my first comedy show at Cobb's Comedy last Friday to see Will Pepper. I've been to other comedy venues in the South Bay but never in SF. From the photos on the website I was expecting a more spacious venue but in person it's actually quite intimate especially when it's packed with patrons. And there's even a second floor with balcony! Somehow I missed seeing that on the website. We had arrived 30 minutes late but the hosts were super helpful trying to find us seats together. We ended up sharing a small table with another couple near the front. Getting seated with strangers is the norm at comedy shows so I wasn't put off by that. But I wasn't expecting the A/C to be blasting (assumed because everyone is packed in close), so I was glad I brought a hoodie! There is a 2- drink minimum per person but you can order non-alcoholic drinks or food. The menu is not bad. There were the usual items like nachos and chicken strips. I opted for a pretzel and Modelo.. I highly recommend this combo!! The pretzel came out nicely toasted and warm.. and the Modelo was HUGE! Definitely didn't need a second drink after that! All in all, it was a fun first time experience at Cobb's and I would recommend checking it out if you're looking for something to do in the city. Warning: Cobbs Comedy is located in North Beach where parking is hard to find. Free street parking is scarce everywhere in SF but it's particularly painful when you are late to a show in this part of town. So plan accordingly! read more

Parking is horrendous in the area, but we enjoyed our time at SF Sketchfest this past weekend, attending two different shows on the same day at Cobb's Comedy Club. That means standing in the long line twice, with the venue opening up just 30 minutes before showtime for both sold-out events. They're strict at the security screening, but it looks like they'll let you check in anything for free, even tagging a canned beverage I forgot I had in my bag, which I was able pick up at the end of the night. The place was modern and inviting inside with decent sound and lighting. The space is quite large and oddly shaped with the stage more toward the right side. Guests are seated quickly at arrival, either on the lower main level or upstairs. For the first show in the afternoon, we saw Comedian Clash: The Clash of the Internet Comedy Giants, from seats at the rear center of the floor. It was super cramped back there, with attendees pretty much sitting on top of each other. But that didn't stop us from having a good time filled with laughter, entertained by the family-feud style game show involving audience participants. For the second event, we saw live stand-up comedy by Janeane Garofalo from a table toward the left side which was much more spacious than our first seats, with just as good a view. The stage is raised, so we didn't have a problem with viewing at all during our time here. We had to meet the two item minimum per person for each show, and tried various food and drink options from the menu. This included the slaughter berry tea, strawberry vodka lemonade, wildberry mojito, beer, diet soda, garlic fries, knockout grilled cheese sandwich, and a salad. As expected, the drinks were delicious but weak in alcohol, and the food was just okay, though the garlic fries were made well, nice and crisp and coated with plenty of minced garlic and olive oil (or whatever kind of oil they use). Of course, everything was pricey, but I appreciated that they at least offered food at the venue, cuz we were hungry. Also worth noting, service here is pretty good with friendly staff and reasonable wait times, unlike the comedy venues in the south bay where service is so slow that you don't get your second drink till practically the end of the performance. read more

Came here to see Craig Robinson. And he was hilarious. I had such a great time. Darren Carter opened up for him and OMG was he funny. I love coming here to have a night of laughter. Service was good but thr only thing I didnt like was our server took it upon herself to make my Shaker drink a double. So instead of paying $24 I paid $30. I had to get a sprite to make it drinkable. They do give VERY healthy pours. So i can't be too mad. read more

I just want to update my one star review to a three star. While the comedian we saw on Sunday was not super funny, the experience was better than the last time we went. I get it the two drink minimum is required, but the prices are a lot and you have to flag someone down just for a napkin in the dark. Our server, Nico was helpful. Eat first and expect to pay minimum $50 for drinks for two before tip. read more

I went to Cobb's last night for the first time to see Kevin Smith. My date and I got into line at 9pm expecting to be inside by 9:15 which is when the show was supposed to start. What we did not know until the show started and Kevin Smith told us that the earlier show went over time. Which is understandable as he is a fantastic storyteller. With that being said, the security crew that was scanning our tickets as we waited in line could have told us that the first show had gone over. But they never said anything. One star down. Inside, we were shown our seats, and I went to the bathroom. Which was absolutely gross. There was water all over the stall floor and the trash can was overflowing. I have been to many dive bars in my 100 years on this planet & know dive bars can have gross bathrooms. But when there is a break between shows at a comedy club, I expect at the very least, the bathroom floors to be mopped & the trashcans to be emptied. Another star down. When the show was winding up, our server assumed my date (a man) was paying for the drinks where I was the one who had handed MY credit card to the server when we ordered our first round (they swipe your card and then the tab stays open until you close it). I know I should have said something then but I didn't want to interrupt the show. So that's why I am posting this on Yelp. Cobbs, you need to teach your servers and security people to communicate and do better. If they're leaning, they have time to clean. This is why my first experience at Cobb's gets 3 stars. First off , great show from Rex Navarrette and his opener Artie Valenzuela. Now for venue itself. Nice intimate setting, perfect for a comedy show. Lighting was spot on to the stage and performer. We were in the second tier of seating and felt right in the mix of things. Looks like all seats would be good. Staff checking in, hosting, and serving were all great. Food was eh. Drinks were a little above eh (and you have to buy at least 2 for the club minimum. A few in our party just opted to buy the overpriced non-alcoholic drinks like soda and bottled water. The only major drawbacks is parking in the area is tough. And let's not forget that there were flies on stage (kinda nasty). But Rex made sure to address his guest performers at the end of his show, which actually made the show more authentic. But for real though, please get some fly zappers or something, because it's not cute watch flies dancing around the stage for the whole show. read more

Took my two nieces (19 and 22) to Cobb's Comedy Club for a night out, and we had such a great time! The atmosphere was upbeat and fun from the moment we walked in--smooth check-in, friendly staff, and a layout where every seat has a great view of the stage. The lineup was hilarious--a perfect mix of rising stars and seasoned comics who had us laughing from start to finish. My nieces were quoting jokes all the way home. Cobb's really knows how to deliver a quality comedy experience. We ordered the pretzel to share--it was soft, warm, and hit the spot. Went to Cobb's for the first time last night to see Andrew Santino and I had a great time! The space was smaller than I expected, but the experience felt more personal and intimidate. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and was laughing throughout the whole night. The place requires a 2 drink minimum per person and we also ordered garlic fries. Great place, the staff is super cool, one of the guys told me my fly was down, fly meaning my zipper and i was so thankful because I have no idea how long is was down until he finally told me so that means so many others passed before he told me and didn't tell me. A few things to consider before going there: 1) Hidden costs: you purchase the ticket online and you learn at the place that you have to pay for 2 mandatory drinks. Surprise! I guess it's their birthday :) 2) The acoustic of the place is not good and you will miss some of the jokes because of this. 3) Drinks are bad. Seriously bad. 4) Food is worse than drinks. 5) You will eat in the dark. 6) You get your own table... but then you share with random people since they pack the space behind and in front of you with additional chairs, so their orders go to your table. Advices if you can't avoid or if you purchased tickets for your favorite comedian before reading this page: 1) Ask to be seated in the middle section to avoid the issues with the bad acoustics. 2) Have dinner in a different place before the show. Seriously, there is a sandwich shop next door, and I bet it has more/better options. McDonal has better options. 3) Have drinks in a different place and simply order 2 sodas to pay their birthday tax. 4) If you decide to eat here, have a flashlight. A smartwatch flashlight would do the job. read more

Love coming to Cobb's, was there last night to see Janeane Garafalo! She was so amazing. The venue is great, we had preferred general admission and sat in the second row of tables. We ordered the chicken tenders and nachos, both of which are our regular items we order, but the pretzel is also good if memory serves correctly. There's a self serve water station at the rear near the bar and the stairs up to the balcony seating and men's bathroom. There's also a second smaller bar up there! Tip your staff, they are great and provide excellent service without being intrusive. Highly recommend. read more

Came here for the very first time to see Irene Tu on Oct 5, 2024. We came early because we wanted good seats. While in line, the staff checks IDs if you're drinking and you'll get a wristband. They check bags and they confiscated my snacks (nuts & trail mix) They left them at coat check for me to grab after the show. I explained to them that I'm on a strict diet and I need to have my snacks. They told me to look at the menu and if there wasn't anything I can eat, they'd give it back to me. Fortunately, I could eat the Cobb salad and I highly recommend it by the way. The chicken was very tasty. The dressing was just ok. There's a 2 drink minimum (non-alcoholic ok) and they have drinks not on the menu like hot tea and iced tea. Ask your server about it. The tip is 20% but as far as I know, it's not added onto the total/receipt. You'd have to add it in yourself. Come very early to look for street parking. I recommend getting an Uber/Lyft though. I'm looking forward to watching another show here someday. read more

My twin sister, friends and I came in to see Gaspare Randazzo and while we were incredibly happy with the show, we were placed in the farthest seats to the right of the stage, and next to a bouncer who was actively harassing my sister the entire show for LAUGHING. It was incredibly creepy. For those that don't know Gaspare, he's an educator and a comedian. Most of the people in the audience were also teachers. My sister is a former PRINCIPAL and current teacher. She was not doing anything wrong except laughing and having fun. There were maybe 60 people total at the show as it was a 3PM matinee. Management- please fire this guy. We will never come back again. We felt unsafe and will forever remember your club that way because of him. We drove 2 1/2 hours to SF from Monterey to come to this show. Gaspare was awesome and we were such fans we went out to dinner with him after. YOUR BOUNCER IS A JERK. read more

Cobbs always hosts some amazing performers and is an SF staple. Tickets are general admission, so first come first serve for seating. You get a little cozy with your neighbor, which is expected with tables and servers that come throughout the show. 2 drink minimum and basic food to munch on. This place is a blast if you're looking for laughs with a side of bar bites. We came for the Sunday free show with local comedians. Two hours of pretty funny acts. The food won't blow your mind--it's your classic pub grub like sliders, fries, and nachos--but it totally does the job if hungry. The vibe inside is super fun and laid-back, with a cozy setup that makes you feel close to the stage, perhaps except the seats on the side near the wall. Drinks are tasty but watch out for the two-drink minimum. At the end, this is how they make their money though if the show is free. Nonalcoholic drinks are included in the minimum. Overall, it's a great spot for a fun night out with friends, good vibes, and a lot of laughs. read more

Ambiance is great, shows are good, service is good too. But the two drinks minimum should be illegal, I think it should be illegal to force people to buy things. Did not want more than one drink, with two I had to use 3 times the bathrooms, that must cost near to 2 bucks each time. Btw, I run a car business, and you can only buy two cars, not one. Would not be surprised if they get sued, if someone gets a DUI make sure to go after them to over selling , over charging, force selling. I think a lawyer should take care of that. read more

Really nice place and great comedy. Dear lord the drinks are strong (in a good way) Surprisingly big inside and yet seating was cramped. I get it, trying to sell as many tickets as possible but would have been nice to have our own table and also would be nice to not be bumping into people sitting next to you. Wish the seats were a little more comfortable as your butt starts to go numb and hour in. If those could be fixed this place would be perfect. Overall very nice place would go again. I've been to Cobbs many times over the years and I've always had a great time. It's a medium sized comedy club in North Beach with floor and balcony seating. There are even bar stools against a small bar top against the wall on the floor level, I assume for some singles that attend a show. We arrived about 30 minutes before the show and I'm so glad we did. There is some reserved seating on the floor, but it's primarily first come first serve. And most tables are four tops, so if you're a pair you are going to share a table. And they are small tables. But because we arrived early, and our usher was amazing enough to offer it, we got a two top on the balcony. BIG shout out to Front Office (that was our usher). Along with hooking us up with a table all our own, and with a great view, he also passed by several times and chatted a bit and dropped a couple jokes for us. Just a good energy. It's a two drink minimum (food doesn't count). We did order food, chicken strip basket and a hamburger. They were edible. Not bad, but nothing amazing. The ranch was actually my favorite part. My lemon drop was really good though, and I ordered two. My boyfriend got a beer and a soda. Our waitress was also a sweetheart. She even complimented my purple eyeshadow. The theatre has good sound, good lighting, and is big enough to fit a lot of people, but small enough to still feel intimate. On a couple of occasions in the past the comedian stayed after and did a meet and greet. For this show I went to box office in person and bought the tickets ahead of time. Saved me around $24. The box office is open a short window of time (like 1 - 3 PM few times a week or something like that) so I had to go at my lunch. I just enjoy having a physical ticket in my hand, and if Jordan Klepper had stayed after for autographs I would have had something for him to sign. We attended the first of two shows that night so no meet and greet. I highly recommend seeing a show at Cobbs. read more

They check your bags at the door, and no large purses or backpacks are allowed. They also have a two-drink minimum (does not have to be alcoholic). The night we went there were several comedians. Cane here for a show on Friday after a long time - we got in pretty late but were still able to get a good table. Generally the service is fast and the servers do their best given the crammed space + live performers on stage. You'd ideally want to get the back portion of the table and not the front as to not be in the position where you have to hold your food in your lap while eating. Prices are fair considering the location and the fact that this is a well oiled machine. We had the burger and nachos with chicken - fries were crispy and overall the food was quite good. Again, it's a comedy club not a Michelin star restaurant :) Parking can be difficult and expensive if you need to use a nearby parking lot - honestly if you live in the city I'd recommend ride share since you'll end up paying the same $$$ if you need to park + less stress. Also you can enjoy actual real drinks for your minimum :) This area is BUSY. Staff is friendly and everyone knows what they're doing - I've always had a welcoming experience. Give yourself enough time to arrive to the show, ideally don't drive and enjoy all that this SF institution has to offer! read more
