I reached out to my dentist and as advised, made a follow up appointment with the endodontist. It was before the New Year's and understand the challenges of scheduling appointments during the holidays but was able to secure an appointment with Dr. Howard Kang at their Aiea office within the first week of January. Located of the 1F of Westridge Shopping Center in Aiea, this is one of the four Hawaii Endodontics LLC (HE) offices. The other 3 are located in Kailua, Kapolei and in Honolulu (Hale Pawaa). I arrived just before my scheduled appointment where the female receptionist checked me in. She was friendly and made me feel at ease which was much appreciated when I've been concerned about my tooth with uncertainty. I didn't sit down more than 5 minutes before the dental assistant called my name and escorted me to an examination room. This assistant is a seasoned staff where not only professionally, she engaged conversation personally and made me feel comfortable. She commented on my Trader Joe's mini tote bag and how she was gifted one but ended up giving it away to her relative who really adored them. Shortly after, Dr. Howard Kang came into the room to assess my condition. He commented on how my lip healed nicely and proceeded to conduct several tests to determine my teeth condition. To our delight my teeth responded well by not experiencing any pain. I advised Dr. Kang that it's just a little sensitive which is natural after the trauma I experienced. I'm to allow more time for the tooth to settle and heal. My next follow up appointment is in 6 months with Dr. Kang. For the time being I'm advised to avoid using that tooth to chew and to allow more time to settle and heal. In closing, I'm very pleased with HE for such great professionals and staff who take care of me. They have been educational yet sincere and supportive in my recovery process. 2026 #5

I searched and found Hawaii Endodontics and another dental office. After reading Yelp reviews, I decided to go with Hawaii Endodontics. I was able to get an appt with Dr Chong the next working day. I arrived, filled some forms, and was called back soon after for X-rays, etc. After explaining what was going on and explaining the procedure, we agreed to move forward. He did a great job fixing my tooth! He and his assistant Emily moved together smoothly and finished in less than an hour. No pain during the procedure with some expected soreness later in the day. Now I can go back to vacation!! ------------ Two notes: 1) Parking garage was very full - I had to park on the top floor. 2) There were two things they recommended for my case that were not covered by insurance. They clearly explained this and asked if I wanted to use them before proceeding. I chose to proceed with both Thanks again Dr Chong!!

Grateful my dentist was able to have my teeth aligned again after a tooth shifted from the fall, but knew I had to be checked on the teeth's nerves and roots. My dentist referred me out to Hawaii Endodontics (HE). HE was founded in 2009 and has now expanded to 3 locations (Honolulu, Aiea and Kailua) on Oahu offering root canals utilizing modern technology. I decided to go to their Honolulu clinic on the 5th floor of Hale Pawaa as I'm familiar with this building and it's near my home. I already had an appointment at Hale Pawaa to see my PCP so I made my way to the 5F to speed up the appointment process. I wanted to avoid leaving a message and wait for the call back. It was easy scheduling the appointment and I asked to be paired with one of the four professionals recommended by my dentist. Was advised I could be seen on Monday morning but had to wait until they confirmed with my insurance on the coverage. Dr. Howard Kang was assigned to me and I also had to complete a questionnaire prior to be seen. It was basically personal information and general health questions. I'll be frank where I was nervous to see Dr. Kang as my front teeth and mouth were stiltvery sensitive and this has been keeping me from getting deep sleep at night. The tenderness, discomfort and anxiety have been on my mind but glad I was seeking the medical attention I really needed. The dental assistant was very friendly and encouraged me to relax - - I guess it was obvious by my actions and facial expressions. Soon after Dr. Kang entered and asked several questions prior to having x-rays performed and tests done. The results determined the root canal for tooth #8 as it didn't respond to the sensitivity test and confirmed by the x-ray results. Anesthesia was performed and Dr. Kang conducted the procedure. It was painless and he kept me posted with the steps involved. Prior to departure, I was provided with a prescription for a stronger dose of Ibuprofen to be taken after the anesthesia fades away. This experience wasn't what I had hoped for but that's life. I was informed of my copay portion prior to the appointment and paid my share prior to leaving the office. In closing, I'm pleased with this experience and glad my dentist referred me to HE. I found Dr. Kang and the staff very cordial and informative, especially I'm not that experienced with root canals.

Even though we have a regular dentist, he wanted to get a 2nd opinion from an oral surgeon. Dr Emily is not an oral surgeon but he needed to see her first to get the referral. This dental office is located in the Aiea Medical building on Aiea Heights Drive right across the street from McDonald's/Aiea Shopping Center. For those of you who live in the area, you know what a bear it is to get into the parking lot & leave off busy Aiea Heights Drive. The parking lot is not very big & if that is full, there are more spaces in the building, but not a lot more. I've heard that parking is expensive here & sure enough, the sign by the parking ticket dispenser shows it's free for the first 1/2 hr & $2 for each 1/2 hr after that. Luckily since our appointment was early, when we pulled in, we found parking right away. Parking spaces are a little tight. When you leave, there's a cashier/lot attendant just around the corner from the elevator where you pay then head to your parked car. You will need the paid ticket to exit to insert in the machine. Once it's confirmed, the arm raises, & then you can exit but you have to pay first before you leave your parking spot. The dental office is on the 2nd floor. Small, but a neat waiting area with a TV. We completed some paperwork & waited just a few minutes before we were called in. Personnel were nice & efficient, not overly friendly, but pleasant. Shortly after we were seated, Dr Emily came in. She grew up here locally. My hubby discussed with her why he was there. Dr Emily was friendly, easy to talk to & listened carefully to my hubby's concerns. She was down to earth & seemed to genuinely care, even though he was not a regular patient. She asked some pointed questions & offered solutions & to make some calls on my hubby's behalf. I found that so reassuring that she would go above & beyond for us. From the time we got there until the time we left, 1 1/2 hrs had passed, most of the time talking with the dr. What I appreciated was, she didn't rush us & even answered some questions I had. We don't know if she had other appts after us, I'm sure she did for when we left, the waiting area was full. But the fact that she didn't rush us just to get to the next patient, impressed me. This was probably the only time we'll see her, but if I needed to go to another dentist in the future, she'd be at the top of the list. We appreciated her time, kudos to you Dr Emily Iyomasa & your staff. Two things that would prevent me from going back are - they do not validate for parking & that they charge a $56 cancellation fee if it is outside of 48 hrs - wow! The first time you cancel, they give you a pass because they understand unexpected stuff happens but then that's it. They make you sign a form so that you are aware of this. Parking cost us $4 for 1 1/2 hrs, not as bad as I thought.

Dr. Shaikh is incredibly skilled (Board-Certified Endodontist, Penn Dental valedictorian... no big deal! The credentials are real and you can feel it), but what stood out even more was how kind and present he was throughout the whole procedure. He talked me through everything as it was happening, which kept me calm and grounded. I felt zero pain. Not during, not after. The office itself is modern and welcoming, and the staff matched Dr. Shaikh's energy entirely, warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. This is the kind of experience that makes you actually feel good about going to the dentist. Highest possible recommendation.

No one really wants to come to a dentist, let alone a dental specialist?…read more You hate to admit you need one when your tooth acts up and it pains you. Enter Honolulu Endodontics. Specifically, Dr. Ishikawa. Bottom line, quality care here. Yes, you will pay a lot on the day of your procedure. I guess the old adage is correct here, you get what you pay for. Especially, if you need something called the "Cone Beam CT Limited & 1". I was informed that dental insurance does not cover it, but you need to obtain the X-ray in order to proceed with the dental care I needed here. X-ray cost out of pocket is $260! Add the Consultation fee $116.90! Yowzaa! It does add up quickly. Then there is still the deductible, State taxes, and my copayment I'll need to cover. The office will go over your estimated payment prior to the procedure so be ready with $$$$. My dentist recommended that I see Dr. Ishikawa. He has a great chair side manner and Chastity, his dental assistant today, was equally as nice. Dr. Ishikawa does a great job of showing you and informing you of what dental work needs to be done. Dr. Ishikawa is also skilled at numbing your area that needs to be worked on. That's a definite plus in my "less pain is always better" philosophy. There's a follow up appointment in a few weeks. Hopefully, all will be good. I'll also need to follow up with my dentist. I see more $$$$ flying out in the near future. I keep telling myself it's self care! To have healthy teeth is to be healthy... right? There is paid parking in the Hale Pawaa building. I didn't ask if the office validated, as I was dropped off for my appointment. Bathrooms are available outside of the office. You need to request a code or key for access. What an experience.
