Dr Engel is amazing! I was leaving for a 10 day cruise to Alaska on Sunday when Friday early evening one of my front tooth crowns fell off. Needles to say I was freaking out! How could I go on a once in a lifetime cruise with front tooth missing??? I put a call in to Dr Engel about 8 that night, left a message and my phone rings about 10 minutes later. It's Dr Engel. Having experienced a variety of dental offices over many years, we appreciate Dr. Engel, the front office, and his hygienists. Dr. Engel is kind and calming. He doesn't try to upsell you. His judgement and skilled work has been trouble-free. Additionally, the front office is friendly and welcoming. My more recent visits have been with the hygienist Judy, who is kind and non judgmental. (Is there a right answer to how many times a day one brushes and flosses??) Really great experience at Engel Family Dentistry. They were able to schedule and get me in me for an appointment very quickly. The office is clean and they have some fancy equipment I haven't seen before that made X-rays and scans of my teeth quick and easy. My hygienist Casey was amazing. I hadn't been to the dentist for a couple years after moving away from my old dentist, but Casey was very gentle while cleaning my teeth. She was also easy to talk to and made the whole visit very enjoyable. Dr. Engel was also very nice, great bedside manner. I love coming here! I looked up Engel Family Dentistry up by chance and started going here about a year or so ago, and I just love it. Dr. Engel is great - caring, kind, easy going, and knowledgeable. I can tell he's probably great with children too. I've had a lot of stuff happen with my teeth lately (root canal - tooth removal - cavities - unexplained pain - mouth guard) and they've always been so quick to see me if I have an unanticipated issue, pain question, or need something looked at. My wife and I have been seeing Dr. Engel for several years, so when my mother (who is in a board and care home) complained of severe tooth pain, we called his office. The friendly receptionist booked an appointment for the following day, we were so relieved. When we brought mom in, they were super kind, they got her in to a room with a tech quickly, and listened to both me and my mom's concern. Dr Engel, who greeted us personally in reception came in shortly thereafter, assessed the situation and provide simple practical advice and options for dealing with her issue. My mom loved him, and was still raving about how nice he was when we got her back to the home. Dr. Engel probably doesn't need anymore glowing reviews, but after today's visit I felt it wouldn't be right to leave such a great experience unappreciated. Based on these GREAT reviews and our old dentist retiring, we started seeing Dr. Engel earlier this year. Wow, we wish we had found him YEARS ago. During this year, I have seen him probably 6 times already and have been more than impressed EVERY time. Today was my first crown by him (and I have PLENTY of crowns) and this is the MOST PERFECT crown I've ever had! It fits so perfectly and is cosmetically so perfect unlike most of the crowns done by other dentists. The icing on the cake is his office staff! For me, I'm tired of dealing with rude front desk personnel.....here, Dr. Engel's staff is so pleasant, polite, courteous AND efficient! What a great dentist! A dental practice or dentist isn't typically something/someone to get excited about. Great food, yes! Awesome show, yes! Dentist, not so much. Engel Family Dentistry is the exception. Great service from the front office to the dental chair. I made an appointment last week to get a chipped tooth fix. I went in to get the work done yesterday. I was in and out of their office in 30 minutes. At my previous dentist, you would sit in the waiting room for 15-30 minutes, then they would rush you in and out of that chair. My procedure with Dr. Engel was quick, but I did not feel rushed throughout any step of the process. Dr. Engel made sure that I was comfortable, he talked to me through the process to let me know what exactly he was doing, and he made sure I was happy with the result before I left his office. I would highly recommend Engel Family Dentistry to anyone. Dr. Engel and his staff gave me a dental experience where I wasn't treated like a number at the DMV. I'm disappointed to write this review. I think Dr Engle is a great and honest dentist but the issues with the front desk drove me to write this review. My husband and I have been seeing Dr Engle for 3 years. After the first year they dropped our insurance and failed to mention to my husband and I were racking $100's if dollars of bills with them. The address the bills were sent to we no longer lived at. We had 5+ visits in this 2 year period and no one ever mentioned/called to saw we owed over $400 from our insurance being dropped (they took $140 off at the last minute). We would have changed dentists immediately if we would have known. Why pay $100 each visit when another dentist would be free. I'm disappointed this went on so long and I just spent over $300 of back bills to them for cleanings. read more

Cliff notes: Great care and service. Honest approach. Not a sales job. Full book: I've gone through 4 dentists in the past decade after moving from the Bay Area. It seams that dentists in general are all discovering "10 tips on how to build add-on sales" or "How to increase revenues through fear, intimidation and confusion." Engel Family Practice is what I consider to be a great "old school" family dentist. By old, I don't mean age--they're not old. I am referring to the notion that if you provide simple, complete care, and you provide an honest assessment of a patient's situation, you'll win a customer for life. You will never find another dentist that cares as much as Mark Engel, nor will you find a staff who are just as caring and dedicated. This place is isnt just "going to the dentist," its going to visit great friends and family. Its obvious that they aren't "all about the money" and I suspect Dr. Engel has to force himself to bill for some things some times. Not that anyone should go there looking for pity or a free ride, its just to say that these are people who are about helping people. This review in itself is testamony to how fantastic he is. I have always extreme dentist anxiety. More than once I've had bad experiences, and somehow it rooted deeply in me. I avoid the dentist as much as I can, even though I know its a really bad idea to do so. After breaking a tooth and by happenstance finding Dr. Engel, I went in and while I did have major anxiety that first visit, he was so kind and caring and didn't in any way make me feel like I was weird for being so anxious. After that appointment, though, my high anxiety is reduced by well over half, if not more. What little anxiety I do have left, Dr. Engel works with me to make sure I am comfortable and never goes over what I am able to handle. That said, his manner in general is pretty chill. His humor is right on par with mine and its easy to not even realize the appointment is over until it is. You will never ever ever find a more welcoming, friendly, quality dentist. (I kind of don't even want to leave this review because I want to keep them all to myself!!). If you're looking, just go. Give them a chance. If there's a wait, just wait... its worth it. read more

BEST dentist I have been to in my life. But let's break them down. Nikki at the front will greet you with a smile and by your name after your first visit. She will give you a comprehensive breakdown of what your charges are going to be for the services provided, and always work so that YOU pay the least amount. Sam is the dental assistant that I have seen the most when having something done by Dr. Engel. She is friendly, courteous, and helpful to the doc. The hygienist who has done my cleanings, I cant remember her name! But, she is one of the only hygienists that I have ever seen that didn't give me massive amounts of grief for not flossing(i hate flossing, and as a grown ass man, refuse to). All in all, a great experience with a basic cleaning. OK, let's get to the boss-man himself, Dr. Engel. What a nice guy! I have had an extraction and 4 fillings done on separate occasions, and WOW! Is having a tooth pulled not supposed to hurt at all? I'm not kidding, after he numbed me, it came out lickety-split! Yesterday I had 4 fillings done all in the back right side, top and bottom. Once again, no lingering pain and no issues! Awesome dentist, awesome people, we'll be coming to Dr. Engel as long as his doors are open and will keep recommending him to anyone that will listen! read more

If there were 10 stars to give I would give them a 12!! I cannot even begin to describe how blessed I am to have found this amazing dental practice. Dr. Engle is unlike any dentist I have seen, he takes the time to get to know his patients and what they need. He's funny and just makes you feel comfortable. His office gals are great as well. For somone who has as terrible of teeth as I do, I should not be excited to go to the dentist, but as often as i have to go, I get excited to go in, I know I'm going to be taken care of and I know the quality of work is going to be superb. Five stars does not even begin to describe Dr. Engel and his dentist office, I'd give him ten stars if i could. These guys are rock stars of the dental world! Everyone is incredibly nice and relaxed, I love the vibe of the office. Dr. Engel couldn't be more down to earth, he truly listens to his patients, and talks to them, not at them. His staff is top notch, I had the most thorough cleaning from Karen, and Dr. Engel is brilliant - he was able to fix a residual problem left over from my previous dentist, and now i can once again chew with the left side of my mouth without experiencing pain! I also love that he recommended waiting on a couple of minor issues ... so many other dentists that I've visited would have jumped at the chance to max out their payday at the expense of my teeth! Travel to the tropics while waiting for your turn to sit on the chair for teeth services. Super friendly, prompt, and great place to take care of your oral health. I just moved into town and was desperate for a dentist to refer me to an oral surgeon before the year ended (when the insurance ends.) Dr.Engels team squeezed me in when the three other dentists we called couldn't. I was greeted with a smile and enjoyed the tropical atmosphere in the waiting area, while I waited next to a Christmas tree filled with cards sent from patients sending greetings to the dentist team there. When I was seated, the assistants chatted with me as if we've been friends for years, and when dr.Engel showed up he was equally friendly and professional. He referred me to his best oral surgeon and was even able to squeeze me in for surgery the following week! Wow! That's fast and available service if any of you are familiar with difficulties of getting an appt. Looks like this will be my family dentist from now on...btw, no cavities were found! Yay! Dr Engel is AMAZING! Just AMAZING! Our 17 month daughter fell off the couch face first and her poor front tooth and canine tooth were completely pushed back in to her gums! Our pediatric dentist was not open since it was 7pm on a Friday night. I quickly reached out to other moms who all recommended Dr. Engel. He answered on the first call, left his house almost immediately and met us at his office! He took his time explaining things to us and meanwhile keeping us calm. He took X-rays and let us know our daughter would be okay and most of all he gave us peace of mind!!! He is so personable and unbelievably nice. This is our new dentist in Folsom. I had a front tooth that had been chipped and my old dentist foxed it, but made it longer than my others front tooth. It looked horrible. Told my next door neighbor about it and she recommended Engle Family Dentistry. The good side of this story is I called and was able to get in 2 days later and they were extremely nice and understanding. Ended up fixing my tooth and making me very happy. Sorta bad thing is when I tried to get the rest of my family in as "new patients" they were booked out almost 4 month!!! So my two sons are waiting to get in, in January and February of 2020. However, my husband had an emergency with a back tooth and they got him in within a couple of days, diagnosed some SERIOUS problems he is dealing with and referred him to a specialist!! So overall I would say they are worth the wait. People are awesome and know what they are doing!!!!! read more

I went to a terrific dentist for 15 years. Then he retired and moved to Hawaii! After losing the dentist I had seen for most of my adulthood I was on the hunt for a new dental office. After a few lackluster experiences I realized that not only did the dentist need to be personable and know his/her stuff but the front office staff and the hygienists needed to also stand out and shine. Today I found my new dentist! I am not an easy dental patient, while I have healthy teeth I have jaw pain which makes it difficult/painful to hold my mouth open and I am taking medications which make my gag reflex very sensitive - both potentials for a miserable dental experience. Dr. Engel and his staff were gentle and patient with me. Karen and Jolene took their time with me, suggested ways to alleviate my jaw pain during the visit and made me feel comfortable throughout the appointment. Dr. Engel has a great "chair side" manner. He was funny and kind. On the Engel Family Dentistry website Nikki is listed as an "insurance expert", and that is no joke! I was thrilled to not have to wait for 30 minutes to find out the cost for a simple dental procedure like I have had to do at other dental offices. Nikki even gave me a call shortly after my visit to update me on possible co-pay costs for the visit. Excellent service! I am not about to say that I am looking forward to my next dental visit, really that would be weird, but I am not anxious about it. A couple weeks ago was my first trip to Engel family dentistry and was a bad experience. I originally saw the yelp reviews and thought he was a good choice, until I actually went there. The two girls at the front desk were nice and polite, that was the only good thing about the experience. I am now questioning if the 5 star reviews are genuine? One of the problems is that the dentist does not clean the teeth himself, instead it was done a hygienist, the one who did the cleaning was not careful, ended up hurting my gums, I have never had sensitive teeth until that day, and this lasted almost 2 weeks later. Her name is Karen, totally not careful and 100% unacceptable. I DO NOT recommend this business and will be looking for a different dentist. read more

I really enjoyed my first visit to Engel Family Dentistry. It was super easy to make an appointment and have them confirm my insurance eligibility. I got an appointment with in the week. The facility is clean and well-decorated. I LOVE the views of the open spaces from all the windows. Karen gave a very thorough cleaning and the entire visit lasted one full hour. The dentist tolerated my 1-year-old attending the visit with me on my lap. I was impressed at their ability to ignore his jumping and whining and keep working like it wasn't annoying (it was, trust me). One of them even held the baby during the xrays! After the visit I had some trouble with the insurance because they were requiring extra documentation and Nikki at the front desk was SUPER helpful and facilitated getting this taken care of. The entire experience was friendly and welcoming. At other dentists I feel like I'm waiting to be seen, then waiting to be cleaned, then more waiting for the dentist to review. It's a whole lot of waiting, and although the office was obviously full when I was being seen, there wasn't prolonged waiting periods. It was super-efficient. I have nothing but love for this place. I had an incredibly painful tooth, not a cavity as it turns out, but more the nerve was exposed. The staff was amazing and the Dr., even better. Got me in right away. I don't even think he got lunch because he was into making sure his patients were taken care of. I felt like he really cared. And was really funny. Genuine. And that's hard to come by. To find someone who you could tell his staff loved working for, and that he himself loved his job. And above it all, did an amazing job. I'd recommend him to anyone. FANTASTIC office! I hate going to the dentist, but had to go due to a molar that recently broke. From the initial call, to the follow-up, this office has been fantastic. Dr. Engel is friendly and outgoing and relieved my anxiety about the poor shape of my teeth.
